  1. The pics I have do show chrome forks, My guess it basically took the place of the Midnight venture. from what I can tell the paint is a very dark grey and black and according to specs it's a flat paint no metal flake.
  2. I'm looking at a 2008 Yamaha Royal Star Venture S and for the life of me I can not find any difference between it and a 2001,02,03 etc.... But in KBB the 2008 VENTURE S is $2000 more Than the VENTURE . Any one know the EXACT difference???? If any
  3. I DID VERY SAME WORKED GREAT:thumbsup2:
  4. I live 20 miles from you and have owned 6 2nd gen Ventures and 2 2nd gen Tour deluxe and only one I didn't have to choke. That one never had ethanol in it and had bub exhaust and was rejetted. That being said I think it's normal.
  5. I've owned several of both, The older are Lighter, I believe it's 50-70lbs and the ride is VERY different Much better suspension on later version air shocks vs non air shocks better seat wider handlebars. You will definitely will notice the difference in HP. There really is no difference in MPG either on all of them I've gotten 38-42 on average. Personally I LOVE THEM ALL and wish I could have one of each.
  6. How about this when I listed a Bike on Craigs list today I've gotten these every time I list something. List a leather motorcycle Jacket and you'll get a few dozen. Is your goods still available for sale? Umm...this may just be weird but you come across as fascinating in your list. Wanna hang out every so often? I'm not a weirdo, just feeling lonesome. 7. Using Talcum powder is an old trick to take Swirl marks out of paint, particularly black paint. Not sure if it will work on windshield though
  8. I have not seen it here in Florida but I've been told it's here and E20 on the way. I'm not sure about how that's gonna effect us but I just can't see it being good. Here's a couple links to some pretty interesting articles about E-15 and E-20 which is now REQUIRED in some areas of Minnesota. http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2013/05/29/bad-gasoline-low-octane-too-much-ethanol/2369579/ http://blog.gasbuddy.com/posts/E20-law-on-the-books-for-one-unlucky-state/1715-426469-440.aspx
  9. I"ve got an Idea here this is how I clean carbs. But for over the winter it makes sense. 1: Close petcock and run bike until empty 2: Remove fuel line from petcock and insert a small funnel 3: Fill funnel with Techron, Sea Foam or whatever your preference is 4: Turn bike on and off BUT DO NOT START!! You might have to do this 2-3 times until it will not suck any more in. 5 : Reconnect fuel line. Now your carbs are full of sea-foam or techron and cannot get gummed up from ethanol or whatever it is in gas that causes the varnish. I've done this on several bikes to clean the carbs and it just might work for over the winter months. I'm in Florida and ride year round so not an issue here. I do know that all the Marinas here carry non ethanol gas. But not so much for the varnish reason as for the fact that ethanol attracts moisture and for older outboard motors it just plain messes them up:confused24:
  10. THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!:cool10: Having the part # (Which 2 dealers DID NOT HAVE) I googled it and there were about 20 part sites that have it but I found one that has a very faint diagram picture of it and I'm 99% sure that's NOT it (the drain plug). The one on the RIGHT is a DRAIN PLUG and the one on the left is an overflow plug all I have to do now is attempt to tighten it and if it's not loose replace it. After I called another dealer the service tech said it was the overflow I described it and he said "yeah that's it its an overflow or drain plug whatever ya wanta call it" so I ask what's the one on the right? He had no clue. LOLOLOLOL!!!!!! I'd go there and look at the part(drain plug) but no one has it in stock. Well there's only one that even looks like it can be tightened or removed so. that looks like my best shot THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE HELP
  11. The tapered one which is on the left and has a pin hole in it IS where it's leaking from, it's not coming from the outer sides it REALLY looks as though it's coming out the pin hole. I'm gonna start it up later and make an attemtp at taking a picture of it actually leaking.
  12. 2003 Venture 4000 miles starts and runs perfect. . I found the fuel leak (See PIC) it's the nipple looking thing on the left and it's coming out the tiny pin hole WHEN THE BIKE IS RUNNING. I've banged on the carb (in case float stuck) and There's nothing in service manual that shows what that part is so I'm not sure if it can be replaced??? or if it's loose??? Is it overflow screw???. And if it is overflow screw and it's bad how do you buy one when Dealer diagram shows nothing there. (I called them Saturday) And if it is just loose how do you tighten it??? Sorry to bother you guys again but I've checked past forums on this site and others and not a single diagram or picture that shows the back side of the carb float bowl and tells you what those to brass fittings are.
  13. Is there a hose that should be coming from the drain screw??
  14. Okay finally changed pic size on camera to show what I'm asking about all four carbs have just the fittings with no hose or pipe on them also they are not shown on diagram in Service manual on line or the hard copy that I have. although PARTSHARKS diagram shows 1 fitting and a "pipe" coming from it #12 and # 63 http://www.partshark.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=281980&category=motorcycles&make=YAMAHA&year=2003&fveh=6836
  15. Look up "A STITCH ON TIME" They're in St. Pete I talked with them they can do a seat mod that will make you sit lower. Or you can send it to the guy here (Butler mod) who's in Texas I believe. I've had 2 bikes with the lowering kit and it was harder to balance when coming to a stop than without the lowering kit I'm only 5'7" and 29" inseam and I'm on my toes. When they do a seat mod they gain leg length by not so much the height of the seat but if your fat (like me) the width of the seat gets decreased so that gives you more length. At least that's how it explained to me, which makes sense look up his ad in FULL THROTTLE FLORIDA MAGAZINE. here's his web site http://www.asweetseat.com/ Oh yeah he did a seat for Evil Kinevals VROD. Heck he might even have a tent at Oldsmar Freedom Bike Fest today
