I can try, Jeff.

Joe, Do you recall having any issues with the colors not matching the instructions? Can you lend any additional help or instructions for me to pass along to try and help. Photos maybe? Flying fool, I have recommended to him to come over and check out the forum at least twice, but I do n ot think he has done so. I enclose a wiring schematic with all the harnesses I send out so he will have that if you happen to lend him a hand. I will find out if he wants me to pass his phone number on to you, then maybe you two can get together and chat a bit. thanks for the help.

I am hoping that the fellow that has the converter is or will be doing just as you suggest in calling Hopkins. I will confirm that with him next we speak. You are correct the Hopkins converter should have 6 wires , the sixth being the large red wire that goes to the positive terminal on the battery to power the isolator, I was purposely avoiding talking about that to try and focus on the 5 wires that are related to the signal systems. Unforunuatly the fellow with the converter is in Wisconsin and I am in Florida, so I have not actually seen his set up yet. Anybody near North Praraie , WI that coould maybe help this fellow out? thanks for the feed back, good points.

They do, the problem is the wire colors he reported to me that he has on his adapter do not match what Hopkins has listed in their instruction sheet. He tells me his Hopkins has: black, blue, yellow, brown, and turquoise wires The colors that Hopkins lists on their sheet I found on line are white, brown, yellow, red and green. Some match (yellow and brown, maybe turquoise could be green). Maybe his black = white = ground Maybe his red = Yellow = brake That would be my guess , I was hoping some one here had actually used this specific adapter and could tell us what they used. If his harness matched the instruction sheet, I found , it would hook up as shown below, but I have no way to know what the functions are for his colors, I would guess the colors he has that match the instructions are for the same functions that are on the Hopkins instructions, but hat would be a guess. Hoppy Bike Function White Black Ground Brown Blue Tail light Yellow Brown Left turn Red Yellow Brake Green Green Right turn

Playboy, Thanks. But the pictures I have seen on this model the functions are not marked on the out side of the other convertors. ?? I have found a couple folks over om the Delphi trailer forum that used this model on a Venture , but the posts are 4 to 6 years old, so I did not bother to try and contact anyone yet.

One of my harness customers found a video on YOU TUBE that recommended using the Hopkins-46255-Power-Taillight-Converter for connecting a 4 pin trailer harness to the 5 wire 2nd Gen Venture system, I reviewed the video and what info I could find on that converter and recommended that he purchase that unit as it should work. He has the Hoppy now but the color codes on his Hoppy do not match what the instruction sheet I found on line. I am sending him a harness in the morning, but I not able to help him determine which wires on the Hoppy connect to which wires on the harness. If the colors matched the instructions it would be easy, but his colors are different. Has any one else used the Hoppy 46255 on a 2nd Gen? Any help is appreciated.

A fellow over on the STAR forums is moving and clearing out items he does not want to move, he posted the note below. "I have a stock seat for a 1999 RSV. Excellent shape, came off bike shortly after buying the bike and stored since then. Also have stock seat to 2004 Road Star Silverado. It was removed almost immediately after buying the bike. Both are free to anyone needing them. PLese let me know if you have a home for them, hate to put them in the land fill. " Paul Kinas Here is a ink to his post on STAR's web site if your are interested and not a member of STAR, I would be happy to pass it along to him. http://www.startouring.org/forum/default.aspx?f=12&m=140454

Joe Your bike came out of the factory with 28mm carbs. That does not mean that some previous owner could not have swapped the carbs out to 32mm from a Venture, but it would require some sort of adapter plate to make them mount up. By comparing the parts diagrams avaialabe on line to what you have, you should be able to tell pretty quickly if someone has added an adapter plate the convert to 32 mm carbs. If you are certian that the carbs have not been swapped out then you have 28mm carbs. I hope this helps to clear up your confusion.

Warranty Question?
M61A1MECH replied to 2007royalmidnight's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
They (Yamaha) replaced both the driver and passenger seats for me about 2 months before my warrenty ran out on my 07. Dealer initially expected Yamaha to to take the position of "Normal wear and tear" but they submitted any ways and it went right thru, in my opinion the seats should be covered as long as there is no evidence that they were cut by a tool or something. Speakers, that could be tough, but if it just one you could argue that if they say it is due to cranking the volume so high that the speaker blew, I would ask why the other 3 are not blown, the volume is not specific to individual speakers or channels (left / right). Good luck, keep us informed on how you make out. -

Help? Front Fork Air Pressure
M61A1MECH replied to V4ME's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
The assembly manual says there should be no weight on the bike, the owner's manual on my 98 Royal Star TC said to lift the front tire off the ground. I normally set my pressure to 7 psi when the front tire is on the ground. -
Take a look at this guy doing stunts. http://www.wimp.com/stuntrider/

Looks to me like the fender is item 15 and the tank is item 1. see attachments.

If you have not spent much time in Florida and you are thinking of living here year round I would suggest you visit for a few weeks in the summer so you you can get a taste of the heat and humidity, you may not like it, I don't. In the summer the Atlantic coast is some what cooler that the Gulf coast and a lot cooler that the interior of the state. The interior (Gainesville south to Brooksville) will offer the best riding. If I were going to live in a manufactured home in Florida I would not do it with in 40 miles of either coast because of the hurricanes. There is a nice retirement area north of Leesburg called the Villages, but I think those are conventional structures.

Avon Venoms current status
M61A1MECH replied to bmxndad's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Have you thought about the Dunlop E3s, I am running those on my 07, have about 13,500 miles on them now and still have plenty of tread left. They handle well and have no issues with cracks or chunking, wet roads , like we ever have those in Florida, are no problem, traction is always good with the E3s. -
Gary, This is not apples to apples as far as your question, because they used a standard Royal Star not a Venture to start with and they used a V-max engine, but essenntially that is what you will have when you are done. http://www.best-motorcycle.com/yamaha/neutron-star.shtm Good luck.

Try NADA, http://www.nadaguides.com/Motorcycles/Motorcycles, they tend to be a bit higher than KBB, I generally tend to split the difference between the two.
