  1. Not me, but I want in on the new bike deal.
  2. Mike I had the same think happen to the petcock on my 98 Royal, I just tapped mine back in, I do not remember it leaking, but it would pull out when ever I needed to take the hose off, back in the day, you could buy the petcock for about $35.00 as I recall, but I see they are over $60.00 at Yamaha Sports Plaza. You could try to expand the end of it a bit with a smooth round madrel and then pesss it in maybe with some fuel resistant adhesive applied to the sides of the tube. One thing to remember when ever you are taking any rubber hose off of a fitting, twist it back and forth before tying to pull it off, that will normally break it loose so it can be removed easy. Your descripton of the oil soaked foam gasket is a bit skecthy, but I think what you are describing is the foam gasket that goes on the cross over plenum on the air boxes, see item 22 in this link http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/oemparts/a/yam/50045f8af8700209bc794e6c/intake They do not show the little Mickey Mouse foam gaskets in the parts break down so they may come installed on the plenum. The left side being the low side of the bike when parked on the side stand always gets the major portion of oil that collects in the sir boxes. The emmision system sucks oil fumes from the crank case into the intake system so the fumes will be burned with the fuel air mixture in the cyclinders to reduce the emmissons from the bike, some of those fume condense back into oil before they are sucked thru the engine and then cling to the inside of the air box. If the bike has ever been operated with the crankcase overfilled, that is oil above the line on the sight glass, there will be a good bit of oil in the left air box region, both thses could be why the gasket got oil soaked. I found the same condition on my 07 this past week when I had the fuel tank off to replace the fuel sensor. The foam gasket just crumbled when I touched it. I am not sure this is a good idea, but it was the only one I could come up with at the time. Not having any sitable foam to cut up and make a gasket, I took some graphite plumber's rope, about 1/8" diameter and put two wraps around where the foam was and fixed the air box and plenum back in place. The grapite rope is soft and pliable enough that you can "mold" it into shape and stuff up the gap. I am just not sure how robust it is, it may not take to the heat and oil fumes, I will check it in a few weeks after I have some time to do some serious riding, then I should know if it is suitable. Hope this helps
  3. Here is a link to the tech section on the Jason Mod. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=501
  4. All non Venture Royal Star motors from 96 to 01 are direct swap for your set up, The Venture motors can be installed into a Royal frame but as stated it takes a fair amount of work. All of the models that Pofarm listed will have motors that are direct replacement for your 96.
  5. I am needing to do a complete harness build for a fellow, and I came across this isolator harness all built into one, at a good price. Trying to find out how long the wires are between the connector and the isolator block, waiting for a return email. So I wanted to see if anyone has tried using this set up on a bike before. http://ecustomhitch.com/i-8202113-tow-ready-119177-modulite-protector.html Thanks
  6. Joe Thanks,I just heard back from the fellow, he had crossed some wires in his aux harness, it is all fixed now, he is good to go.
  7. I have talking via the Delphi V-star forum with a guy form Duck Ditch , SC, that has a 1300 V-star, he has made an aux harness like the ones I make, for the lights on a tour pack he just installed. He is having trouble getting it all to work and I was wondering if there is anyone near him that could try to help him sort it out? I do not know the guy , I just know he rides a motorcycle and is struggling with what should be a simple install, and I am hoping that someone in this generous family we have here could maybe take a few minutes out of their schedule to help out a fellow rider. If you can, PM me and I will see about getting everyone in touch. Thanks
  8. cs dexter, thanks for that I forgot the word not, I have corrected that . so much for typing when I should be sleeping.
  9. I was getting coffee the other day and I hear one guy say to another guy. " You know at one time we had Bob Hope, Johhny Cash and Steve Jobs, but now in today's economy we have no jobs, no cash and no hope" Second guy says, "You are right, I hope nothing ever happens to Kevin Bacon!"
  10. LEDs are typically not omni directional , in that they are brightest when viewed looking directly at the end and do not put out much light when viewing them from the side. With the way that Yamaha mounts they turn signals if you do not use LEDs that that are made so the ends of the LEDs are pointing direcetly front wards or rearwards then they will appear dim, because you are looking at the side of the LEDs. If you did not use a load equalizer on the turn signals they will blink fast with LEDs because the flasher speed is related to the current draw, less current (LEDs) blinks faster than more current (regular bulbs).
  11. Try these I use them and really like them.
  12. I have also resodered mine on occasion, I have also bought replacement parts here, http://www.wiringproducts.com/contents/en-us/d406.html
  13. It has to hit a certain temp before it cuts in, even here in Florida I seldom have in come on unless I am in traffic and the temps are over 80. Often times I never notice it is on. You can check it by letting it sit and idle for an extended perod of time on a warm day, after 15 or so minutes of running with no air flow across the radiator the fan should come on. Mine almost always comes on before I am done with a carb synch, because I old and slow.
  14. Pay pal and prayers sent. Thanks for posting Don
  15. Need to tell us what bike yoou are riding, the Royal Star line including the Venture and the Tour DeLuxe do not have clutch cables, so there is no adjustment. The clurch is hydraulic, you may have air in the system, old or dirty fluid that compresses when pressure is applied or you could have a bad or leaking slave piston.
  16. I had the same issue, just took a bit of extra fussing around with the cables toget the slack needed.
  17. There is no trick, it is supposed to latch automatically when you push it closed. Either there is something keeping it from fully closing and latching or the latch mechanism is broken.

  21. I am planning on going on Saturday, I have your cell # I will call you when I get parked, and we can set up a meeting place.
  22. Thanks Gary
  23. Squidley, From the diagrams I got from from Gary the brake/tail and turns go thru the 13 pin connector on the models with the on board compressor along with a lot of other circuits. I am certianly no GEN I expert, if someone knows better than I am all ears. I want to get this right if it works out. Thanks for any help, photos are good also.
  24. That place is so busy, no one goes there anymore. Yogi Bera
