  1. Rain-X is not recommended for plastics, will cause yellowing and possibly crazing.
  2. If Alexander Graham Bell had his way this post probably would have started with "AHOY".
  3. I am not sure about one on line , but Microsoft Streets and Trips has three functions that will do someting like you want. 1. You can select your starting point and then go in and ask it to find near by places, in that query box you an set the radius for Streest and Trips to lok at and the result is a circular grid overlaid on the map. 2. You can ask Streets and Trip create a drive time zone that wil show where you can get to within a certian period of time. 3. In the tools bar options of Streets and Trips there is an option to draw a circle on the map, pick a start point and drag the circle out as you go it tells you the length of the radius of the circle. This is a program you have to purchase, but I think it was pretty cheap and is very useful, I use it all the time for trip planning.

  5. Count on me, I will be there.
  6. Very unique wind driven mobile. http://www.wimp.com/windmachine/
  7. Check those round guards that are mounted on the top of the left and right rear valve covers. They have been known to fracture right at one of the mounting screws. The two ends rub on each other and make the most annoying sound. It tends to be reflected off the inner front fairing making it sound like the noise is coming from some place forward. Had it happen a couple of times on my 98 TC. You need to actually push on each end where they a fastened to the valve cover to see if they move, the fracture is so clean it is almost invisible and you will not see it until you force it to move.
  8. Mike, I think the extra wire is for the back up lights, you will need those when you put the GW in reverse to back the trailer into a spot. You did get the back lights as an option on your trailer , right?
  9. The clutch is hydraulic, there is no adjustment. Could be the fluid is old and has moisture in it or the system has air in it, either or both will cause the system to try to compress the air or dirty fluid. Compressing the the fluid uses up travel in the master piston, so when you get the lever to the bottom of the stroke it has not moved enough fluid to disengage the clutch fully. If the fluid in the master cylinder is dark brown, change it and then pump fresh fluid through the system by pumping the lever while opening the bleeder valve until clear fresh fluid is coming out. That should take care of it.
  10. Here it is , here is the next Venture , soon to be on the streets, well sort of on the street. rare_footage_of_new_Venture
  11. Specific to the 07, some head bolts were not torqued properly, dealer can tell you by the VIN if that unit is affected and if it had been previously taken care of on that campaign. All years could suffer from clicking noise in the rear end, when backed up, there are 2 tech bulletins out to address proper alignment of drive shaft to rear hub and also greasing of the spiders in the rear end.
  12. Nice work Jeff, looking forward to seeing in person at the next Meet and Eat.
  13. Barry, as always good seeing you my friend, that was an interesting place. We need to take Mike up on his challenge to organize a cental FL Meet and Eat one day. Mike, always a pleasure when we run into one another, have been doing so for several years now. The STAR group enjoyed meeting you both and look forward to running into one another again in sunny FL.
  14. Here is the 2014 lineup posted on the Yamaha website http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/products/modeloverview/ls/2014/model_overview.aspx no Venture this year. We all knew it was coming, I am surprised it took this long, I expected it about 3 years ago. I still have my 07, so I will just ride on.
  15. Mike How long are the wires that come with the adapter? How did you secure the adapter to the bike? Have any photos of that?
  16. I am just speechless, I will pray for you and for a healing. I agree that apositive attitude can make a difference, have seen several times where the doctors prognosis is incorrect, hang in there Steve and we will be right there with you.
  17. Frank Thanks for the input. MiCarl I had a similar thought, also suggested to the owner to stop by a good local Automotive type electrical shop for input on the noise and possible filters. Thanks I will pass both comments on to the owner.
  18. This is not on a Venture but on a Stratoliner. I made up a harness complete with a powered Isolated and harness from seat area to rear fender tip for a fellow that is riding a Strat. He has just installed an audio system on he bike and claims that after he had he trailer harness installed he stated to hear engine ignition type noises in his headset. I am not sure how one would affect the other and was hoping that some electronic guru here could ofer suggestions about what may be going on or how to troubleshoot and fix the issue. I would like to help him, but I am lost as to what to tell him. Thanks for any ideas.
  19. Probably just some oil from the airbox, it happens if you fill the crankcase so the level is above the line or if you are running particulary hard, the air box sucks oil vapors up as part of the emmision control system Sometimes those vapors collect in the airbox and condense back into oil. There are drain tubes under the bike about mid way on the left side, that will drip a bit on occaison. If those tubes are wet, just wipe them off and then kep an eye on them. If it contiues you may want to pen the air boxes under the tank and wipe out any oil residue that has collected. If it is not those tubes, then by all means check the rear shock, sometimes the rubber boot will hold the oil in if the shock fails, give it a pinch and unseat it to see if it full of oil. That would be bad. Good luck.
  20. For temporary you can use one of the screws that is in the side cover just below the seat. There are two screws in each cover, one is used to secure the cover to the bike the other is just there for show, take the show one out and it will fit right in to hold the shifter, also you can use that when you go to the hardware store and need to match up that silly metric thread that none of us understand that well.
  21. I have not been to a maintenance day, but I did read that last year's motto was "Ride them in Push them out". I am sure someone will be able to help if you go, I would go if I could get the time off.
  22. Here is one from Freebird http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=504 Here is one from the other guys http://www.venturers.org/Tech_Library/index.php?action=article&cat_id=002007&id=336
  23. Jeff Do not forget about my offer, it is still sitting here waiting to go.
  24. Shameless plug for my harnesses, I really do hate to hear it when folks say they cut into their harness when there is no reason to do so, at least for the bikes I can out fit fit with an aux harness.
