Well, they are not EXACTLY the same but are interchangeable. There is an ever so slight difference in the response curve from the 1200 engine and the 1300 engine but you will be hard pressed to notice any difference, maybe about a .01% difference in fuel economy and throttle response...

The push to talk is STRICTLY for the CB. The "voice actuated" is actually a mute for the radio, etc while you are talking. It mutes the audio except for the intercom. Don is right, the intercom is always on. You need to turn up the intercom volume as stated for it to work. I recommend a setting of 12 to 15, anything more and the wind noise is unbearable even with a sock on the mike...

Air Box hose?
bongobobny replied to talonsx2's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yah! short hose on bottom, larger crooked hose on top. Long nose needle nose pliers to get to the clamp. You are better served to hook up the hose to the air box first then place the airbox into position then clamp the upper hose to the airbox... -

brake fluid warning indicator (87VR)
bongobobny replied to Max's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
OK It isn't really a relay but a reed switch. You pretty much have to remove the resovoir to get the switch out. There is another c clip on the bottom holding the switch in place, and an o ring to keep it from leaking. The switch is non serviceable so you will have to replace it... -
I uhhh. ummmm, errrr, well gee...

Anybody Upgraded Their Front Brakes?
bongobobny replied to bongobobny's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
OK I am presently watching/bid on a 14mm from a '04 Road Star. I'll have to buff it out to make it look chrome to match my clutch but that's no biggie, well a couple of hours of work and a lot of black dust! I just have to be real careful with the site glass... -
Brake Pad Replacement
bongobobny replied to utadventure's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I don't pull the calipers, just use a pry bar to spread the calipers before I take the old shoes out. I have used Mike's method but as stated you have to replace what comes out... -

OK, finally have the rear brakes installed! Finally got the new rear brake lines and put it all together, and bled the calipers. Tried the pedal and it went to the floor!! Tried pumping them up but nothing! Then I noticed the puddles!! Seems the speed bleeders I bought weren't long enough! So, put the stock bleeders in and it's good to go! Tried them ojut after work today and still not able to lock them up although there is definately an improvement. Sooo, I'm thinking that the 1 1/8 master cylinder is overkill as the pedal is way up at the top! It's simple physice, with the same pound force on the pedal, the smaller the area the greater the PSI (pounds per square inch). For example 100 poundsd on an area of 1 square inch equals 100 PSI whereas 100 pounds on 1/2 square inch equals 200 PSI! Once the pistons push the pads against the rotor you don't need/get any more volume of fluid, the rest is all pressure against the rotor. Fluid is uncompressable so no more oil flows but instead yopu build up pressure!! So, bottom line, spend another $80 on a smaller bore master. Carbon One tried a 5/8 bore on his and found out it does not deliver enough volume of fluid to move the pistons. I'm going to try a 3/4 inch bore and hope there is enough pedal travel but I'm thinking there should be. Carbon One is using a 13/16 and he was trying to improve his, so I'm thinking 3/4 should be the charm! Oh, well, at least I can ride and not have to deal with squeeling rear brakes! Pictures to follow... BTW does anybody want a set used of stock rotors and calipers??? I'll send you the set for $50 shipped...
