  1. Yup, as Dingy says, just swap the switches! Take a small screwdriver and push it into the hole to push the tab down and pull it off! I'm betting there is a nasty score on the bore of the cylinder. That's the only way that you wouldn't pass fluid. Either that or the cup has a nasty tear on it... The 4 wire has a set of normally open contacts for the brake lights and a set of normally closed contacts for the cruise control so that when you hit the brakes it disconnects the cruise.
  2. OK so I finaslly got Sexi running after charging up the battery and took it for a spin with the new master cylinder and the old brakes. I was ghoping for a little better performance from the new master but I am disappointed!! I sure have a lot tighter pedal but I still can't lock up the rear brakes much at all. When I stopped and held the pedal tight and tried moving in first it would not hold the rear brakes locked up. It sure bogged the engine down but I could not stall it out with higher RPM's. Sooo, I'm patiently waiting for my rotors to come in, they just got shipped today. God knows if I'll ever see my EBC's as tnhey are back ordered but the ones that got shipped are american made slotted and cross drilled. I have 2 complete sets of calipers loaded with pads ready to go, andf plenty of brake fluid left to bleed the calipers once I mount them...
  3. There's a really good deal on a supposed 2013 Venture with training wheels and a trailer!! So I hitched a ride with an 18 wheeler who was heading towards that dealer. Along the way I saw out of the corner of my eye...
  4. Thank God he was geared up!! Sorry to hear about this Randy but glad to hear he is still alive and had his cell phone, and had his wits about himself to call!

  6. Yup!! Just prayed and will continue to do so!
  7. Auto Zone! It's just a simple single contact relay that is capable of handling a large current such as driving lights. There is a primary "coil" that you switch electricity to that does not draw much current that is in reality an electromagnet that closes a set of contacts that feeds the 12 volts to the driving lights. If you try to switch the voltage directly to the driving lights via the on/off switch the heavy currwent draw will destroy the contacts in the switch and it won't work any more... As far as mounting, there is a single hole on the tab of the body and you can use a self tapping scrrew and mount it to the inner fairing or wherever it is convenient!
  8. I'll bet it's either a caliper hanging up, or a shock low on oil...
  9. With poise and grace I thanked them for their advice when all of a sudden there was this huge noise! I looked and exclaimed...
  10. Yes you could try to reverse pressure bleed your master cylinder. Put the regular bleeder back in as you need to force brake fluid into the caliper. You need to buy a hand vacuum pump which should run you around $30 at auto zone, advanced auto, etc. Do NOT go to a NAPA dealer and spend twice as much for the same pump!! You then want to remove all the fluid from your resovoir and then use the hand pump and proceed to pump fluid from the bottle via a vinyl plastic tube into the hand pump and into the caliper. Eventually you should see the resovoir start to fill up. Word of warning, there will be some spitting going on so have rags around your master cylinder and cover the resovoir with a rag. Do not screw the cover on as you need a place for the air to go freely...
  11. Vacuum pump and speed bleeders! Works for me...
  12. Oh, it's coming! I have functio9nal brakes again but am waiting for my slotted and cross drilled rotors to come in before the job is completed...
  13. Thanks Jay! It is on my "to do" list but unfortunately it's a few items down on the list, about number 4 or 5 but it may very well move up to number 3...
  14. OK Gary the thoery behind tying the brake handle is that is the highest point and trapped air bubbles everntually rise to the top. By appling pressure to the calipers it forces the trapped air to the top as the force is sending pressure to the calipers...
  15. Dave is in our thoughts and prayers!!

  17. PS sell your bike outright and get more money for it...
  18. Ride it first Phil and see how you feel as opposed to the Harley! The really important thing to remember is whatever you buy you will be paying for it for a long long time so you BETTER be happy with it regardless of the cost...
  19. At long last I have functional rear brakes again!!! They are still the stock Hannigan setup but as soon as my slotted and cross drilled rotors are in I will finish the job. Besides I want to see what kind of difference, if any, the master cylinder makes on the setup! This project has fought me every step of the way!! I had one heck of a time getting the new master cylinder bled! My vacuum pump wasn't cutting it! It would draw fluid from the resovoir but then the plastic line would colapse from the vacuum, and as soon as I pulled the line from the bleeder the fluid would surge back into the resovoir. Finally pressure bled the system by reversing my vacuum pump to a pressure pump . Dropped my new ss line into the can of brake fluid and used the vacuum pump on the rear bleeder to fill the line and then screwed the line on to the master cylinder and viola, the rear brakes work again!!! I'm sure there is more air still trapped in the system so I plan on bleeding the entire system again later on tonight. I only bled the one rear wheel caliper, but the bike is jacked up with that wheel up in the air so it was the high point. Maybe sometime during the week I'll take it out for a test spin to see how effective they are before converting the rear calipers and rotors...
  20. Hey Tom, raffle tickets for the trailer we are giving away at the International are a lot cheaper than that!!!
  21. Mine is paneled and it gives it a warm comfortable feeling but it's getting to the point where you can't see the walls any more with all the stuff in it...
  22. Great idea Brian!! Makes it stand out in a crowd when you have something a little different than the rest!
  23. Yup! Looks like an old 283...
