85 Venture CMS issue
bongobobny replied to Bighappy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I'd start with the connector for the dash, could be corrosion in a couple of pins... -
Bottom line, they want your money...

83 front brake switch
bongobobny replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yes, there are different switches depending on whether you have cruise or not. The second set of contacts on the 4 wire switch is to tell the cruise control controller that the brakes have been applied and to turn off the cruise control. Only the Royale model had the cruise, and the '83 I think was an option. You can try '84 on up for the proper switch. I had an extra but gave it away a couple of months ago... -
Welcome aboard. Pick our brains?? Hmmm, better than picking our noses... In all seriousness, please feel free to ask away, the only stupid question is the one that wasn't asked!

Yes, I, ummm, errr, have a similar picture as wallpaper on my computer at work sometimes...

OK today I cleaned up my newly acquired original '85 caliper brackets. You can see what about 10 minutes with a wire wheel can do! Also thought I would show you the comparison of the Ducatti pads vs the stock Civic pads. Notice what those lovely pads did to my first set of rotors?!!?

Yup!! A little search on utube for the extra gory ones...

You're gonna love the Hannigan, we love ours! Not sure what side of the etate you are on, but you may want to consider spending a week in Murray KY and have it done at the factory. For what you have to pay extra to get the kit shipped to your local dealer it will pay for the vacation. We did that and had an excellent time, quite a few Ventureriders in the area. We also spent a couple of days in Nashville TN. We trailered it down and back so we would have transportation but you could also rent a car down there for the week...

Yup! Stay strong, my brother! Some times the answer is "wait." Hold fast and things will work out for the better. Hope to see you and Leslie some time soon!

Yes, I hate to hear of a rider going down, but glad to hear they walk away from it! Prayers for a fast and full recovery. He probably has a broken rib or two, no fun at all, been there done that...

That's actually not a bad price for it! Looks pretty good, lotsa potential...

antenna bracket
bongobobny replied to Wizard765's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Wayne, yes the MK2 bracket fits, as does the bracket for an "85. When you find one, find one for me too!!! -
You will find there are many Bible believing Christians on this site! As far as alcohol, and drugs, at our get togethers there ae those that like a beer or wine with our meals, and even a few beers around the perverbial campfire, but there is never any pressure for non drinkers to participate, and no explaination ever needed as to why! Very rare is there any excessive consumption by any individual. I can honestly say I have never witnessed any drug usage whatsoever at any event I've been to. We are an EATING club with a riding disorder, not a drinking club! Congratulations on 22 years!! Your faith has serrved you well! Welcome back to the wonderful world of motorcycles and enjoy our company and feel free to attend our social gatherings worry free.

Fleabay!! Or Wally World, or maybe Big Flops (Lots). Best to buy XXL. Several of us have purchased the cheap Chinese $18 off Fleabay for use to keep the dust and dew off the bike overnight and are satisfied for the price. If you want a more expensive one then Dennis Kirk, Jake Wilson, etc for mail order...

Oh well, just bought calipers so now, except the brake line from skydoc, I have everything. Total investment around $275 plus whetever the brake line is going to cost...

Dang!! Did as little online research and found out JC Whitney has remanufactured calipers with hardware AND brackets!! Sure, they cost a little more than just the calipers but not to the tune of what I ,paid for the mounts! Could have saved about $20 if I would have researched first...

Yay!! Today I found a set of caliper brackets from an '85 CRX! I'm amazed there are any left in this area as there is not a huge demand for parts for them and most have been crushed because there is no profit in them! Of course the price was a bit high, $80 which is more than I paid for a set of brand new rotors and bendix pads. I got both for $54 shipped. Now all I need is calipers...

I'm sorry, it is not authorized to use the words "sense" and "common" together in a sentence. Sense ain't common any more...

1993 VR center stand
bongobobny replied to nwbme's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Uhhh, yes, that does sound like the return spring setup for the center stand. You should find a parts lookup in the terch section which should show how it hooks up. I'm sure someone else will come up with pictures or something... -
$1,400.00 and still don't run
bongobobny replied to bdlight4's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Sounds like crud in the idle circuit by the way you are describing symptoms. The sliders may be dancing meaning it's drawing air, but it may not be drawing fuel as well... -
Electrical question on an 84
bongobobny replied to raybear71's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If Gary doesn't have a spare RLU, I might have one... -
OK I'll agree with that one based on your opinion! I'm trying for something akin to power brakes and am going slotted and cross drilled EBC rotors, haven't decided on the pads yet. Jay, thanks for doing the legwork on the year and model Honda. I'm thinking it was mostly gas hogs that got crushed with the great rebate debacle...
