Wait until you have cateract surgery!! Things are much brighter and more colorful now!

Hi! To start a new thread you hit the "New Thread" button at the top of the forum listings for that particular forum. Now, chances are you probably have a plugged up proportioning valve which is attached to the rear of the rear master cylinder. The metering valve, on the other hand is attached to the frame towards the front by the battery along with another bleeder as there is a high point in the lines and air can get trapped there. Due to the fact you are saying the front brake works fine there should be nothing wrong with that as the metering valve only works with the front brakes...

They may surprise you and be fairly good quality! I bought one of them once a couple of years back and was pleased with it...

The saga continues!! One set of brake pads I have, the set of Bendix, will fit the calipers from the junk yard, so I ordered new pistons and seals, and cleaned and honed the bodies. One went together jusdt fine but the other seems to have a problem with the main seal. it binds up!! I tried switching pistons, and switched the seals from one to the other and the seal binds up no matter which caliper it is installed in. This is the first time I've ever had any problem with Raybestos! Sooo, order a new rebuild kit and try again. This project is Demon possessed!!!!! PS Jay you talked me into grinding the heads of the bolts. I was concerned about the integrety of the bolts but decided to gamble...

I agree, don't see any at present but they do come up somewhat often. In the mean time you may want to consider these as a lot of times what is for sale does not have these... http://www.ebay.com/itm/YAMAHA-XVZ1200-VENTURE-ROYALE-1983-1984-DRIVER-BACKREST-BAR-ABA-26HCD-17-00-NOS-/250992476928?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item3a70514300

Hi and welcome!!! Speed bleeders are brake bleeders that have tiny check valves in them so that when you bleed your brakes you don't have to constantly tighten and open them, you just loosen and pump. They run about $10 each. You may want to invest in a vacuum pump as well and suck the brake fluid thru the system instead of pumping the handle all the time. Vacuum pumps generally cost around $30 and are available at Canadian Tire, etc. A very nice brake upgrade, but involved, is to replace your front forks with what's known as MK2 front forks. MK1 is years '83 - '85 whereas MK2 is from '86 - '93. The front brakes on the MK2 are 2 piston as opposed to MK1 which is 1 piston. The anti dives on the MK2 are electric solenoids as opposed to the hydraulic ones on the MK1 which rob brake power as well. You can replace your head bearings as well and upgrade to Progressive springs to improve front suspension as well. The bolt spacing is different on the MK1 and Mk2 but with the MK2 you can also switch to R1 4 piston calipers and they are a direct fit. You will need to change to MK2 rotors as well as the diameter is different. Llots of time and money but well worth the upgrades. A better fork brace finishes the front upgrades, either a Superbrace or one made by member Condor. Surprisingly enough there is a site "Modulator" that lives near you that is very knowledgeable with 1st gen Ventures. I';m surprised he hasn't posted in your thread yet but probably because he isn't home from Church yet... I may be able to help you out with parts, I should have a spare wiring harness laying around if you need one. Looking forward to meeting you in the future, there is a strong Ontario presence on this site as well as Western New York! EDIT! Ignore the above about the conversion, for some reason I thought you had an '84!!! -
What is it?

Yup! That is known as the "bell" effect! It's one of those things that works in theory but has very little effect in reality. I kept mine but ran a bead of RTV aeround the seam to insure no leakage to atmosphere and replaced all of the lines. As stated you can cap them off and have for all intents and purposes no noticeable loss in power or fuel efficiency... -

Speed bleeders and a vacuum pump... -
The good news is I now have a nice jacketed SS brake line from the master cylinder to the rear brake splitter!! Yay!!!! The bad news is it cost close to $100. Boo!!! I am now considering removing the right exhaust pipe to put a dent in it where the one bolt just touches so there is no nasty buzzing or heat transfer...

Hmmm, maybe a worm gear assembly to engage and disengage a starter motor from the rear rim with a rubber wheel attached for a reverse on my trike??? -
I seem to remember Lumpy from either this site or the "other" site. Sorry to hear of his freak accident! Paypal and prayers sent.
