  1. When I read the title I thought you finally dropped it for the first time...
  2. CLASS = Computer Leveling Air Suspension System. If it works fine don't worry about it immediately but what happens is the solder connections on theinput connector develop hairline cracks and you will eventually get an error message. Easy fix to just resolder the connections. As far as the idle issue, a can of Seafoam added to the gas tank then drive it like you stole it followed by new plugs should pretty much fix that problem, but as mentioned, the carb diaphragms may have pinholes in them. Overall you will find the Venture royale one of the best touring bikes out there. They are pretty much bulletproof. Unless that bike is pristine and in top mechanical condition then his asking price is a tad high. You should be able to pick it up for under $3000. Start your bartering at $2000 and think cheap episode of "Pawn Stars..."
  3. I'm jealous Rickster, it looks waaay better than mine!!
  4. Yes, Jeff, I just ordered a set of calipers with the brackets attached from JC Whitney! When they arrive I will find lout whether the Fleabay dealer in Florida sent the wrong model calipers or if the junk yard lied about the calipers and brackets coming off of an '85 CRX! Supposedly the Civic, CRX, and Vagovan are the same...
  5. Second thought, is the rear caliper hanging up???
  6. ...or, also what Gary just suggested...
  7. My first instinct is the proportioning valve! You can try removing the guts and use it without the innards as some have done and see if that fixes things...
  8. *#&*@$#^%&!!! Somebody is lying to me!! Just went to put my freshly painted calipers from Fleabay onto my freshly painted caliper brackets and they don't line up! The spacing on the holes on the brackets are about 1/2 inch wider than the bolt holes on the calipers!! Both are suppose to be from an '85 Honda CRX. I compared the rusted up old calipers that were attached to the brackets and they are identical except for the spacing on the ears! Sooooo, I just went the route I should have gone in the first place and ordered a pair of remanufactured calipers with the brackets attached from JC Whitney. So, if anyone wants to follow in my footsteps with this conversion, do I ever have a deal for you! All you have to do is transfer the good guts from the rebuilt calipers onto the pair of rusty calipers I have after you clean them up a tad with a wire wheel or sandblast (not keen on that) and you should be set to go! Also I recommend looking into a master cylinder from some metric car so that you can use the stock brake line and save yourself around $60 for a custom made line...
  9. Oh well Ben, there's always July! Evan, yah! Waaaay cool! A couple ogf mods and driveable even in the rain and snow!!!
  10. I still get mine at my local Yammy dealer...
  11. Oh Gad Abdul, you met "Thongman!!!" Aint he something?!!? We all had bells on or something like that...
  12. You gonna be at Tom's Sunday??
  13. Not really. Even though it's shiny, it is silver which is like grey, white with a little BLACK mixed in. I remember a company I worked for in the '80s spent a lot of money on changing the reflectors on the overhead florescent lights from white to silver metal, and the result was it was then darker than before they started...
  14. Good luck finding those "rare as hen's teeth" aftermarket pieces for your scoot Trader...
  15. Nothing worse than a bunch of nekkid old geezers talking about food...
  16. OK idle should be 800- 900 RPM. There is a master idle adjustment, looks like a minature water spigot. As far as the choke, there may be worn out plastic on the handlebars. You can tighten it up a tad by loosening the master cylinder and try pushing it closer to the handlebar grip. As far as rear air, I assume you mean the rear tire, which should be probably around 40 psi depending on what the tire recommends. If you mean the air shock, then try around 42 lbs. For either, you just have to play around with the actual pressure until it feels right to you. As far as driving lights, a pair of cheapie Wally world lights should serve you well enough. Mounting is pretty much up to your imagination, browse the photo gallery for ideas. You want to use a relay to power the lights, don't let the brunt of the current go thru the on/off switch. Now here's a tip to make your stock headlight brighter. Remove the glass cover, and then remove and clean the rubber bezel around the headlight. Then, with the proper paint, paint that bezel gloss white! White reflects light, black absorbs light! That and a silverstar 9004 or nighthawk 9004 bulb and you will be seeing and be seen much better!!
  17. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Annie!!!!!
  18. Member Dingy makes a wrench for tightening the nut with a 3/8 drive wrench. I myself am not keen on the drift pin method as you are impacting with that method and it puts a torque spike on every time you impact...
  19. In a word, YES!!!
  20. Yup! They can be pretty mean...
  21. We're gonna miss this one but may go to the one in July...
  22. The sending unit itself also gets intermittant, the rheostat wiper gets dirty, the rheostat element warps, etc. The tension on the wiper can be adjusted. The whole sender unit comes out of the tank easily enough, and you can inspect and clean the wiper fairly eaily, as well as give the wiper a little more tension...
  23. OK for the most part these engines are bulletproof. There have been owners who have gotten over 200,000 miles on them. All tyhe brake parts are the same for '83 - '85, and the master cylinders can be replaced with '86 to '93 as well. The clutch slave cylinder is the same for all years, and is easy to replace except it can be tricky to get out as it has to be wiggled, turned, and twisted in a praticular order to get it to fall out. Rebuilding your carbs is going to be the most expensive and time consuming part. To do it properly plan on spending $300 or so when all is said and done. There is an excellent step by step video out there to do it properly. The biggest problem with them is pin holes in the diaphragms, asnd plugged jets in the idle circuit. There is a set procedure for syncing the carbs and you have to monitor all 4 vacuums at the same time. There are several members proficient at this procedure that will be gladto help you out. If you can just plain get it running, you may want to use a product called seafoam on the carbs. You can buy seafoam at wally world or auto zone. You may want to flush and red cote your gas tank too. New plugs and wires are a good bet too, but do not instasll new plugs until you drown your carbs with seafoam and let them soak for a day and then restart it. The seafoam will loosen up a lot of gunk and foul out the plugs. These bikes are terriffic to ride when running right, but with any used bike, require a little TLC to keep them happy. You will find a ton of technical information here as well as helpful members! Welcome aboard!
  24. The condition of your front tire can make a huge difference! I too have been down that road. The stock front D404 wore out very fast and towards the end was very susceptible to front end oscillastions. Mounted an E3 rear tire backwards and it made a huge difference, and after one season it strill has lots of meat left...
  25. I think you mean 2.2K ohm!
