  1. I replaced tires today on my '86 and need to do brakes next. This is my question. Do you replace the pads with the calipers in place or do you remove them from the mount/rotors? Dave
  2. Two couples were playing cards. Jeff accidentally dropped some cards on the floor. When he bent down under the table to pick them up, he noticed that Dave's wife, Sandy, was not wearing any underwear! Shocked by this, Jeff hit his head on the table and emerged red-faced. Later when Jeff went to the kitchen to get some refreshments Sandy followed him and asked, "Did you see anything under the table that you liked?" Jeff admitted, "Well, yes I did." She said "you can have it, but it will cost you $100." After a minute or two, Jeff indicates that he is interested. She tells him that since Dave works Friday afternoons and Jeff doesn't, that Jeff should come to their house around 2:00 PM on Friday. Friday came and Jeff went to her house at 2:00 PM. After paying her the $100, they went to the bedroom, had sex for a few hours and then Jeff left. Dave came home about 6:00 PM and asked his wife, "Did Jeff come by this afternoon?" Totally shocked, Sandy replied, "Yes, he did stop by for a few minutes." Next Dave asked, "Did Jeff give you $100?" Sandy thought, 'Oh hell, he knows!' Reluctantly she said, "Yes, he did give me $100." "Good," Dave says. "Jeff came by the office this morning and borrowed the $100 from me and said that he'd stop by our house on his way home and pay me back. It's so good to have a friend you can trust."

  5. I recently purchased a used but excellent condition Mustang Wide Vintage seat and pillion for my 06 RSTD. I had a set on my Suzuki Boulevard and I loved them. But this one just doesn't feel right to me. However my wife loves it. So I am selling just the drivers seat for $225 plus shipping. Thanks for reading. Dave
  6. I have a 96 royal star. The front rotors are pitted. I was wondering what years and models would work for used replacements off ebay. Thanks Dave
  7. I just spoke with Dave, and they had a tank slapper while exitingI-10 in Columbus, Dave has a Broken Collar Bone, he thinks Jamie has a Concussion and thinks the Trailer ran over Jamie. 8. Dave and I started our ride this morning on the Tour of Honor ride in Texas. About 12 miles west of Dripping Springs, tx heading to Fredericksburg for our first memorial stop about 8am.. Dave had his rear tire go flat on 290 and went down on the side of the hwy. He is alright but real sore on his left side. I was leading so didn't see him go down, when I looked back after going up a hill and curve a pickup was flashing his lights at me, when I turned around and went back he was lying flat on his back next to his TD on the side of the highway. Two drivers had already stopped and gotten to him. Made him lie there till EMS arrived where they checked him out. Had a whole bunch of LEO and EMS and Fire dept blocking the road, its a busy fast hwy. They finally got Dave up and he was able to walk around. A wrecker arrived but Dave got ahold of Tom (Blanco)who lived real close to where we were to bring his trailer. He arrived and we got it on his trailer and took it to his house and put it on his lift to find the tire problem, a 1' gash inside the one threads. Dave's wife Jamie arrived shortly after and the three of us went to get some lunch in downtown Blanco then head back to Houston. I got back home by 6:30, spoke with Jamie, Dave was resting after some good drugs. Besides the rear tire, bike was in good shape, left crash bar was bent, left cowling was loose, left passing light a little bent. His new 5 gallon Aux tank on the back held in there. All n all was real glad the day turned out better than it could have been. He was able to walk away. Thanks to TOM for a great assist for a fellow Venture rider.
  9. The State of SD just launched this web site: http://www.southdakotarides.com/ While I just did a quick look around, it seems to have a LOT of information for those who plan to visit up here. It has some interactive maps, web cams, and other stuff on it. If anyone does get up here, let me know if you want to go to the best DQ I have found, right here in Madison!!!! Stay Safe, Dave

  19. Lightning Deal! $62.99 - Midland 40-Channel Two-Way Radio http://amzn.to/GoldboxDeals I am thinking this might work for my RSTD so I can communicate with my RSV chatterbox friends. Yes? No? The deal ends when it is sold out, or by noon Central time. What do you think? Dave
  20. A little gross for me, but Squidley would love this. Dave PS - Monkeyboy put me up to it.
  21. About 90 miles into the ride back to Houston from the Rockport Maintenance Day, Roxie suffered a catastrophic failure. I heard a loud clunk and felt her die. I pulled the clutch, and emergency stopped on the right shoulder. That was kind of exciting, as Dave P./Just Foolin' Around and I were passing cars and fellow VentureRiders. I turned off the power as Roxie spilled out oil. In fact, I'd left a long trail of oil as I made it to the shoulder. I am thankful for my friends, who came to a stop, and who u-turned to come back for me. We had quite a party there on the freeway shoulder. Kreg/Kbay went and got his trailer, and returned to carry me home. It seems to me that she'd thrown a rod. At least that's what we called it when I turned wrenches in High School. I'm not sure what they call it now, or even if that is accurate on a second gen engine. It looks like she lost most of her oil, and there was coolant in the puddle as well. The oil seems to have come out above the front motor mount. My warranty expires in April, and I am glad it happened now, and when surrounded by friends. Is there any way this is not covered by the warranty? I certainly have not heard of a well-maintained Venture engine dying like this. I only have 55,000 miles on her.
