  1. It was a good day!
  2. Quickstep and I are in an internet cafe in Frankfurt. Helloooooooo:big-grin-emoticon:
  3. Not only has he helped purchase the '84 for Quickstep, he has pulled it apart and repaired the plastic. Quickstep jokes he wants a RED one, not a blue one........so what did Dave do on the weekend! God Bless my friend:clap2: http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/Alans%2084%20Rebuild/IMG_1165.jpg
  4. Quickstep needs a new leather jacket, so thought we would buy in the states. Does your family owned bike store sell them? He wants the "Brando" style jacket, with no belt on the front, but wants to try it on if he can get one. Just thought if they were coming to MDthey could throw one in the trailer [2XL]?????????????
  5. Question: What have some of you [PGR?] used to make the pole for carrying a large flag on the back of your bike? As a PGR member I would be proud to ride on a mission while we are in the states next year. I am going to get Quickstep to make me a holder to fit my hitch on the back, then purchase the pole on arriving in the states. What should I get? And from where?
  6. Picked up an '84 Venture for Quickstep and Aussie Annie's trip to the US next year. I rode it the 135 miles home and the motor and gear worked perfect so we can do the necessary repair work to have it ready to go. Then the adventure began... We stopped at the Wally Mart in Richfield, Ut to do a few things. Because the speedo is broken, I went to mount a bracket to hold my GPS so I'd know the speed I was traveling. The bracket caught the edge of the penny that was glued on the clutch master cylinder and Jan asked me what was leaking? Oh Crap!! OK, into the store again, screwdrivers, super-glue, adjustable wrench and start the repair. Next thing I knew I'm holding part of the clutch lever...what the??? After a couple of attempts to fix that problem (BTW, you can't steal the brake lever from the other side) Jan suggests we try one of the crimpy pliers (translation: vise grips). What a great idea. By power shifting wherever possible, rode the bike the rest of the way home. I just kept up this traffic, didn't care how fast I was going. Now we go to work. If anyone has parts that can help make this a great bike again...we are in need of: Speedometer Right Mirror We have a little bit to work with but will need to do some plastic repair, paint and a fork rebuild. We look forward to getting to know Quickstep and Aussie Annie next year at the VR International Rally in Cody and as they travel around. Dave
  7. Haven't been on 'puter most of the week. Couldn't figure out why I couldn't get the dang thing to even turn on:bang head: We tried everything...pulling cords out, then re-connecting eveything -- except the plug in the computer-safe power board. Quickstep finally decides to try it in another spot on the board, and HEY PRESTO! we have lift-off :happy65:Powerboard decided to blow one of the five plug in's and as red light indicated it was working Quickstep ended up saying "If brains were roses, mine would smell real sweet"
  8. This morning I decided to make a brace for the lower leg by cutting down a wrap-around brace I had been given the first time the fixator came off. Asked Quickstep to cut down the metal plates than run through it...and Hey presto! made a shorter version. But would it work Asked Quickstep if he fancied a ride into Fremantle for a coffee, and he said why not! Sooooo............... YEEHAW: Took my first ride on the Quike since before Christmas. :dancefool: WOOF WOOF: Only a dog would understand the wind in the face feeling!! Riding the bike is the one thing I can do independently, and feel able bodied I'm a happy little venture rider.
  9. Parcel arrived Friday morning. Thank you Sir.:clap2: Quickstep not well, so brackets won't go on for a while.
  10. Quickstep got the C/T onto my wheel today. Took seven goes, and nearly 100psi. Just needs a balance and all is good.
  11. Quickstep saved up a few things to do on my bike till he had more time!!!!! "can't rush these things"is his motto:doh: So with more than a day off due to Easter break, my bike is up on the lifter and work has commenced: Back wheel off & splines etc. greased and checked. New brake pads required. Also decided that C/T will be fitted to rear Mic Mutes finally installed onto intercom system.[thank you Bill Morphy for help with PTT button instructions] Aux. splitter run out to handlebar while front fairing open.[thanks to Squidleys tech article] Spoiler/light bar to finally go on to trunk lid. Fixed passing light problem [stopped working after spacer installed] :dancefool:thanks Quickstep And special thanks to all on here who have posted tech articles, and answered questions for us. All your help is appreciated.:clap2:
  12. Quickstep and I are leaving in the morning(Friday) on our first decent trip away riding since the accident in 2007!! Going down to Albany (that's AL-bany, not ALL-bany) which is on the south coast of Western Australia--to join about 80-90 other Ulysses Club members and take part in a Christmas Pageant. The club is having their AGM and Rally down there in March 2010 and we are helping to promote it. Leaving on a 37'C day, and travelling about 500 KLM's--to arrive in 24"C (thank goodness) we are coming home Sunday. So, musn't forget to pack some tinsel and decorations for the quike. Oh, and Quickstep is my "Pillion in a Million"
  13. Quickstep is trying to install an alarm for me and is asking "where" is the best place to put the unit? It measures about 4" x 21/2" It's a Chatter Box alarm from CruiserCustomising. AND where is the starter relay?????:crying: I have one very p***'d off Quickstep here.
