  1. Jakbag, this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&vxp=mtr&item=370621375805 Sp!ke, DEAL!!! I'll PM you, I can use my stock ring, just need to "unweld" the brackets that the plastic tabs fit into...
  2. I bought this really nice aftermarket headlight that was advertised as fitting an RSV using my existing bracket. Problem is you have to remove the mounts that are welded onto the metal headlight case of the stock headlight and glue them onto the plastic housing of the replacement headlight. Not wanting to destroy my stock headlight before I fit the new one, and not wanting to pay $50 plus shipping from Pinwall, I thought I would check to see if anybody has a broken one setting around that I can canabalize for the mounts...
  3. Yup! Air cooled engines do a number on the viscosity of oil fer sure!! Synthetic oils keep their viscosity longer but if it is a new bike some actual wear is important to the breaking in of an engine, so you may want to consider a blended type oil that is partial synthetic. You may want to read the fine print on your warranty because knowing Harley, use of non HD oil may void your warranty...
  4. Very good!! Yes, suntan lotion is a must!! You do not realize how badly you are getting burnt until you stop for the night. Don't ask how I know this...
  5. You may want to clear the vent hole with a pin or something to get any crusted gunk from the hole...
  6. Wish I lived closer...
  7. Gee, all that typing and two other guys answered before I was done...
  8. You are correct, thyere is no clutch cable. We have a hydraulic system instead of a cable. This system consists of a master cylinder which is what the clutch handle is attached to just like the front brakes, and a slave cylinder located on the engine which pushes a rod that disengages the clutch. The hydraulic brake fluid gets contaminated with moisture and needs to be completely replaced every so often, like maybe every 4 years give or take. This is accomplished by "bleeding" the system, and is also essential in removing any trapped air in the system. There are several methods ro bleed the system but all do essentially the same thing. On the slave cylinder there is whats known as a bleeder screw. It is located under a rubber boot on the left side of the engine above the chrome covers. The idea is to either push fluid thru this bleeder screw, which has a hole in the middle of it, or suck fluid from it with a vacuum pump, until the fluid coming out is clear. If you push fluid thru it by squeezing the clutch lever, the screw has to be retightened before you release the lever or else you will such air back into the system when you rrelease the lever, defeating the purpose. There are special bleeders made called speed bleeders you can buy and install that have one way valves installed in their holes so air can't get back into the system because the valve is one direction of flow only. There is also the possibility that either the master cylinder or the slave cylinder is worn and needs servicing, or both. There are kits for replacement rubber parts for both, but the bore of the cylinders can become worn and need to be "honed" to make them like new again. The slave cylinder is almost economically more efficient to replace rather than rebuild but the master cylinder is considerably more expensive to replace so repairing is morre feasable. Chances are bleeding your clutch system will cure your problems...
  9. Just remember those lights are strictly for parking lot displays only and NOT street legal to drive with...
  10. Went to the US website for Rhino and found a dealer close to where I work. I may check them out...
  11. Oh, I'm sure he will suck one or two of those too!!
  12. Yah!! Squid's da man!! Just feed him well and he will be happy...
  13. Hmmm, the usual problem with bleeding the hydraulic clutch is that it won't disengage, not as you describe. Sooo, did you recently change the oil? If so did you add any additives??? We have a "wet" clutch so any additives or friction modifiers will cause the clutch to slip!! Barnett makes some HD clutch springs for the MK1 clutch which are stiffer and help prevent slippage. Getting back to the hydraulic portion of the clutch, as Venturous stated if the master is overfilled that could cause the problem as well as the relief hole in the master cylinder being clogged. Both will trap hydraulic pressure in the line causing it to act as if the clutch was depressed...
  14. BTW Brian I was thinking of my 1st gen in the initial thread but if it can fit or be modified for a 2nd gen I will want 2 if the price is right...
  15. The Strat is a 2 cylinder and belt drive, but a nice bike...
  16. All of the above, but air is compressable whereas oil is not. Therefore air has more of a dampening effect over total suspension travel (the more the travel the more the dampening) whereas the more the oil the stiffer the suspension regardless of travel...
  17. I'm with Moped!!!
  18. I agree with Playboy! I would be interested in a pair as my fenders are already machine gun riddled...
  19. Yup!! You're gonna enjoy that ride for a long time!!!
  20. Sooo, how's the progress coming along with the bike???
  21. Yah! There are a lot of pluses as well as minuses for a Wing, I went with the RSV because of price, warranty, and riding position but in other aspects the Wing was better than the RSV...
  22. Hmmm, tough question to answer Jay, I do like Cannon, Fugi, Olympus, and Nikon. I have to agree with aharbi about the Olympus "Tough" series for something that you are going to carry on a bike!! Before buying any camera read a few reviews on the particular model first. Regardless of what battery it takes buy spare battery and charger if non AA battery. You can usually find cheap spare batterys and chargers on Fleabay and many will charge thru a 12V accessory plug. Yes WOOT has good deals but usually they are older discontinued models. Shop around, Amazon has good prices but you can also check CNET for good deals as well! For my bike I am currently carring a Samsung I bought off of Fleabay daily deal for $60 and it serves the purpose but I wish it had a little better zoom. You need a minimum of 6X optical, 10X is better. SD cards are sooo cheap these days I don't even delete the bad shots any more...
  23. Hmmm, we are taking off after Labor Day for a couple of weeks to go to Mt Rushmore, I suppose we could take a southern route...
