  1. I have had mine off but it has been a while. I think you have to twist it. Tabs on the upper side on and the screw holds the bottom. At any rate I did not take the fairing apart. Hopefully someone else will post.
  2. I got mine from AMS. American Motorcycle Specialties in Lake Havasu City, AZ. I spent a little more and got the sheep skin cover.
  3. Get in touch with V7 Goose. I have not seen him on the site for a while. He lives in Colleyville and is the most knowledgeable person you will find on Ventures. He works on 2nd Gen. Don/t know about 1st but I bet he can give you some direction on where to take it if he can't work on it.
  4. Well I totaled my Venture about 3 months ago. I was already looking around for a different bike as I turned 71 this year and was having more slow speed handling problems with the Venture. After considering several bikes I went with the Road Star. I really enjoy this bike. Good power and great handling. No worries about dumping the bike in a parking lot or trying to turn around on a narrow 2 lane road. I bought a new 2010 with windshield and hard bags for 12K I would recomment you ride one if you are not familar with them and then decide.
  5. Thanks for the replys. I was hoping for some pro or con info on either of these bikes. I am ready for a different bike but I want to stay with Yamaha.
  6. I am looking to purchase another bike and after a lot of looking and research I have pretty much decided to go with a Yamaha Road Star or Stratololiner. I am leaning toward the Stratoliner but I can purchase a new 2010 Road Star S for $12,000 and it is tempting. The Venture was just too hard to handle at slow speed. I might add I like to tour and I just turned 71 if that is a factor. I appreciate any and all advise. Thanks
  7. Once upon a time, dailyray > 05/05 15:04:25 a Handsome Prince asked a Beautiful Princess, "Will you marry me?" The Princess said, "No!!!" And the Handsome Prince lived happily ever after, and rode motorcycles, and hunted and fished, and raced cars. He went to bars, and dated women half his age, and drank whiskey, beer and Captain Morgan, and never heard *****ing, and never paid child support or alimony He kept his castle and guns, and ate spam and potato chips and beans whenever he wanted, and blew enormous farts, and never got cheated on while he was at work. All his friends and family thought he was frickin' cool and he had tons of money in the bank, and left the toilet seat up all the time. And he lived, of course, very happily ever after. THE END. https://forums.craigslist.org/?ID=212027167
  8. Most of the time the clicking is the starter relay not getting correct power. The relay is under the battery. As stated clean all connections and have the battery checked. Mine recently did the same thing and it turned out to be a bad relay.
  9. That is the conclusion that I came to . I have ordered a new relay Thanks everyone for your help.
  10. First thanks for all the ideas. What I found is that the click is from the starter relay. I pulled the relay off the bike and checked this and ran a test according to my Clymer manual and found there is no continunity across the posts. I think this means the relay is bad.
  11. I am back at it this morning. It sounds like the click I am hearing is coming from under the battery. Like maybe a relay or something. Lights are not dimming when starter button is pressed. I am now thinking maybe a relay or loose connection to or from relay. Thanks for your reply.
  12. I have an 06 Venture. Got on the bike yesterday and get 1 click at the starter. I charged the battery and still the same 1 click. Took the battery in and it checks out as good and fully charged. Checked battery connections and still only one click at the starter. Everything else works, lights are bright and etc. I am not sure where to look for the problem. Any advise is appreciated.
  13. husband forgets anniversary illegul > 10/10 21:28:52 Bob was in trouble. He forgot his wedding anniversary. His wife was really pissed. She told him "Tomorrow morning, I expect to find a gift in the driveway that goes from 0 to 200 in 6 seconds AND IT BETTER BE THERE !!" The next morning he got up early and left for work. When his wife woke up, she looked out the window and sure enough there was a box gift-wrapped in the middle of the driveway. Confused, the wife put on her robe and ran out to the driveway, brought the box back in the house. She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale. Bob has been missing since Friday.
  14. Just returned from a 2400 mile trip from N. TX to New Mexico and Colorado. On the way out and back I averaged about 37 MPG. That was riding at around 70 to 75 MPH. Riding in the mountians using 3rd and 4th mostly I was getting 47 MPG. Kinda doesn't make sense to me since I always thouht a steady 70 on freeway type roads would produce the best MPG.
  15. Take a look at sideroadcycle.com web site. On the ride side of the home page Flanders bars and at the bottom click on stock handle bar measurements. This is a list of most bikes and the measurements. You can compare the road kings to your current handle bars and easily decide what you want.
