Add me to the "highly interesterd" list too Brian! Very professional looking custom installation! It almost looks like it would fit a 2nd gen as well...
-
Yah! Carbs will not be a direct replacement due to where they take the vacuum from for ignition advance. The '83 is 180 degrees out of phase with the rest of them...

Hmmmm, good luck with that Brian, most policies will only cover book value of the bike minus accessories. Check first before signing up...

I bought a pair of generic rectangular mirrors from a dealer, they were marked down to $15 each. They are larger rectangular mirrors approximately 3" x 4 1/2". Just remember you have to buy metric with the CW and CCW threads for Yamaha. You can try Dennis Kirk or any other motorcycle accessory catalog...

No I am not Gary!! The stock mirrors were one of the first things to go on my 2nd gen when I bought it! To me the stock ones are pretty much worthless as a functional mirror for full visibility after having a 1st gen for so long...

Yes I am and just got done posting a reply in the thread Big Tom posted.

Sure do, Larry! Want both sides?? I'll get them out tomorrow...

OK I am home!! First and foremost thank you ALL for the kind words, the encouragement, the cards and calls!!! You are all one terriffic family!!! So, here's what happened. I woke up sunday morning to feed the cat and all of a sudden I was very short of breath and seriously thought I might die. I had Becky call 911 and although I was breathing slightly better I was still short of breath so off to the hospital we went. They gave me oxygen and that helped a lot. Basically I was suffering from pulminory adema which is like water in the lungs. It was decided that I should stay in the hospital overnight. I was then diagnosed with pneumonia. I was blown up like a baloon and looked a little gray. With some IV treatments for water retention I ended uppee'ing out over 2 1/2 liters the first day. Yesterday I was informed that I also suffer from mild CHF, no surgery at present discussed but time will tell. I will be home for the rest of the week and try to go back to work next Monday. Now, a word to all of you who smoke, QUIT NOW!!!!! I quit 25 years ago and am glad I did!! When I was S.O.B. it was horrible!! Part of me wanted to die just to end the terrible feeling of not being able to get enough air. I can't imagine having to feel that way permanently! Once again thank you all for your concern, I can honestly say I love my VR family!!

The pictures are still in the camera! I bought a new Garmin 665 and I'm not happy with the volume level. Also bought a Gebring heated jacket liner but not hooked up yet. We also bought drymesh gloves for riding in the rain and some bootie covers. Also bought a half cover, some tee shirts, and a pair of chrome cramp busters. Got home around 5 this afternoon, there's no place like home!!! Kept running into Chrissie from Filmore and her possee. Ate waaaay more than we should...

Yah! Pretty pricey fer sure, especizally when the DEKA battery works just as good for around 1/3 of the price...

Yes Carl, it was for Chubby Checker! He normally gives it to me to deliver but I didn't go to MD so you volunteered instead. I was standing there when you took the money...

My time is coming soon nenough Cugar, soon enough!!! I'm going be switching to 16" rims and increase the tire diameter about 1" later on. Hopefully the larger diameter will make the RPM's at 75MPH lower enough to improve highway MPG's..,.

Newbie with an 87 that needs help.
bongobobny replied to D4klutz's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yes we are all more than willing to help you out here! Air shock issue may be a bad o ring on the hose connector or hole in the rubber line. Battery warning light is most likely a problem with the probe. Need a little more detail with the sound system issues, the tape deck most likely needs new drive belts (3 of them) and routine servicing. Controller switches are available for radio cxontroller. Carbs may end up needing rebuilding. Upgraded thicker battery lines will cure a lot of hot starting issues but a stronger battery such as the DEKA helps out as well! Offering Ice cream and/or food is the main motivator on this site!!!- 40 replies

Here we are at Kathy's Lodge ready to face the day! We left in the rain and arrived in the rain but for 3/4 of the trip we stayed dry. No mishaps other than the rain but that's what rain gear is for. Today we get to stand in line for registration then we are off looking for waterproof gloves and a new GPS for me. We rode with Motorcycle Tom and Amy from the site and Amy's brother, aslong with some of their friends one of which is a couple in their 80's with a HD trike., They trasilered it this year but only because of the rain but considering their age I guess it is excuseable! Hope I'm still alive in my 80's much less still riding!! Don, yes we missed being at MD but we have wanted to do Americade for many years now. Say it isn't so that Yammer was actually working on a 2nd gen!! Yes, I know we will have a great time!! So off to spend spend spend...
-
We are just about all packed up and will be on the road in about an hour!! If any of you VR people see me or the trike come on over and introduce yourselves!!

Charging System Blues
bongobobny replied to camos's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Tim, I think it was just the early MK1's that did not have the cooling kit on them. Yes, I would try an aftermarket R/R first and solder the wires rather than use the connector and see if that fixes it. Even if you end up having to replace your stator at least you will have an improved R/R to go with a nice new high output stator!! -
You're very welcome Lewis!! Unfortunately, for the MK1 the only real way to get better brakes is to upgrade to MK2 which involves changing out your front forks to MK2 ones and also replacing the rear caliper bracket with a MK2 one and coming up with an adapter for the mounting hole where it attaches to the swingarm. Rubber bushings and a fender washer work. You also have to replace the rotors and the front ones are no longer available as new that I know of. You will notice a slight improvement with the SS lines but not a day/night difference that you would notice with a MK2...

A little slow loading, but yes, very cool, and I too bookmarked it! I especially like the history tabs!

Yes it will Joe, but you also need to weed out your cards well in advance of buying a home, etc as any activity even cancelling cards, and doing credit score checks actually reduces your credit score as well! Found that out a few years ago when buying a new car. No problem with my credit score personally but it did change it slightly doing credit scores just before shopping for a car...
