I have considered that, but this bike doesn't have a gas gauge, and without the 2 different heights on the screens, the reserve is useless, when you run out of gas....your out. Thanks for the insight fellas, do appreciate it

As much as your against it bud, he's 19 years old and he's a grown young man now. I can tell you one thing, I have never had the opportunity to ride with my father that rode in the past. he wants to get back into it, and I dearly want to put some miles on with him. Dylan, I imagine, feels that way too, your relationship with him is changing, and as much as you want to protect him, he's gonna go at some point. Many have mentioned about the MSC, an excellent idea, and one that I might suggest you take with him. get him out in the cage with you and while your driving, point out what others are going to do. You know what I'm talking about, the 6th sense that we on bikes have. You can't preach to him, that will shut him off, and then he'll really do what the hell he wants. Just be honest and voice your concerns, he'll do alright, he's a bright guy and he has had a good role model all these years

Need some input from the brethren here... I am fixing up Zipcodes '89 Suzuki VS750 Intruder, It needs the fuel petcock screen replaced. I have looked several places on the web, but haven't found just the screens, the petcock works fine. Does anyone know of a place to purchase just the screen, or am I going to have to morf something up While I'm at it, the seat needs to be recovered, any insight on where to just purchase a cover to put over the seat?

As I do every Memorial Day on this site, I want to Thank some folks. I want to say Thank You to my Grandfathers, who served in the battle fields of WWII, 1 who was a medic, and one who delivered the supplies to the front lines. Thank You, to all the brothers and sisters I served with while I helped protect this country for 6 1/2 years. Thank You to likes of Boomer, Gunboat, Master Guns, Buddy Rich and Monty, and all the others here on this website who sacrificed some or all of their lives protecting this country. Thank You to all the modern day Warriors, who protect us as I type this. This is the most hallowed day to me, I take Memorial Day very seriously, this is the 1 day that after I left the service that I will NOT work on. Even though other countries honor their veterans on different days, I am honored to remember all the Canadians, Brits, Aussies, and all the other countries who have fought beside us in the worlds conflicts on our Memorial Day. God Bless all of you My Friends....

Choke or not to choke?
Squidley replied to ActionJax's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Every Yamaha I have owned, about 11 of them, have always been cold blooded in the fact that I have to use the choke to get them to start....it's the nature of the beast, your ok. -
Annie, When you order again, put me down for 2 of them please

Wiring questions
Squidley replied to Trader's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Steve, You can use the exsisting horn wires to operate the relay, the separate 20 amp fuse will power the relay as you want to get the horn all the power it wants to operate. Use a larger wire to feed both the relay and the horn from the relay. I would contact Larry Skeels (Carbon One) and purchase one of his horn wiring kits. It's simple stupid to install and I have installed several of them, makes a huge difference in how loud an aftermarket horn will be -
It's good too see that you still pop in Mike, now all we have to do is get hooked up again at another rally and change out another fuel pump in a truck in a gravel parking lot Trike looks good too....1 Horsepower right ;-)

I'll second that, Carl is good people and when it comes to Ventures....he knows his stuff

Y'all be careful over there Jeff, been through those 'canes and they suck!

Mike is good people and I too miss him on here, lots of folks have come and gone. It's still good to get new blood in here though, as well as reminisce about brothers and sisters from the past

It was good chatting with you earlier Walt, and I'm glad that the rearend came in today. I always hate having to hurry up and finish something before I leave to go somewhere on the bike

Very cool! Do you have any extras of this patch that can still be purchased?

Y'all will have a good time, it makes me sick that the finances aren't here this time as we have gone the last 6 years in a row. Lots of pics so we can vicariously live through all of you folks

Prayers needed...
Squidley replied to Skid's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Jeff, So sorry to hear of your mother, I know it's a few days after you have posted this, but I wish your family all the support that God can give you....all the best my friend to you and your family. -
Another problem with the stock horns isn't necessarily the horn itself, but the puny wires that feed it. If you upgrade to a different horn, make sure you feed the new horn with all the power it wants, thats how you get loud. The Carbon One wire harness it outstanding and I have installed several on various bikes. It's a larger gauge wire with a relay that is hooked directly to the battery. This setup will actually make the stock horns considerable louder as well

What are you thinking when breaking in your new engine?
Squidley replied to a topic in General Tech Talk
The biggest thing I have always done is not to keep it at the same RPM/Speed for an extended period. I'm also with Monty in the fact that I'll drive it like I normally will, and that may embellish a few speed limits from time to time....not that you'd know about speed limits Dave -
Congrats on retiring Peg, I told my Mom when she was eligible to get SS to do it. Fortunately she and my step dad bought a foreclosure very cheap in Michigan and are renting it out after they renovated it. This gave them the income they needed for her to do it so she retired last month....enjoy your retirement

I appreciate y'alls input, just for a bit of clarification. AT&T does own the phone lines, but when I talked with them, they explained about the DSL running along the copper phone lines. I have to be within a certain distance from the distribution station, which according to them, I am 12000 feet away or just shy of 2 miles. I haven't had the opportunity to talk with the neighbor face to face, I got her phone # from our landlords parents who live next door in the house east of us. I am hoping to get back in touch with her and see if she will let me come over and see just what she has. Worst case scenario is having to stay on this Hot Spot, like I say it's ok and fairly fast, but I just hate to be paying 60+ a month for internet. Thanks again for all your help
