The clunking, to an extent, is somewhat normal. All my RSV's have done it, even the new '08 I had with 1 mile on it when I bought it. As long as your not hearing any additional noises from the gearbox (less the whine of the clutch basket if yours is so inclined) you'll be fine.

I agree with Thom on the fuel pressure matter. If you have more pressure pushing against the float needles (they are rated for a specific psi) then they will open and you will bypass them. Kirby has very valid points also, your '98 carbs should be similar to the 2nd gen carbs, only smaller. The floats have a measurement that they are set at, and that might not be right. Unfortunately if your not comfortable taking them off yourself, finding a reputable mechanic is your only recourse. I wish I was closer to you as we could go through them in a day.

Congratulations to both of you, not a small accomplishment either. I wish you both many more years together

Thanks for the well wishes folks, it's definitely not easy being married to me, I'll be the 1st to admit that Were going to run away to San Antonio this weekend, just the 2 of us and do whatever comes to mind. Maybe Sea World, probably the river walk, and more than likely the Alamo. Oh and Mini....wherever she wants to eat is where were gonna go, 15 years is a pretty good milestone these days

Bill, The 1 1/2 times the width is correct, even a little longer is not going to hurt. Now you mention about this being a dog type kennel. Are you actually going to bring dog(s) in this trailer? The 1st thing that comes to mind is if your going to haul dogs, and the dogs are allowed to move freely through out this enclosure. If this is the case, then you need to rethink the geometry of the trailer, as a moving animal in it will throw off tongue weight dramatically. Now if your not hauling an animal in it, then there's no real issue. Make sure the box's center point is slightly fwd of the axle for a bit better weight in the front. You can actually narrow the frame to the width on the box and give it custom look. Here's a few pics of one I did somewhat to the dimensions of the box you bought.

Here it is again, June 21st, 15 years ago we took the plunge and decided it was time to have the same last name. Lots of drama and hard times, but lots of great memories. It isn't perfect, but I'll take it, and I'm glad that were still proving some folks wrong. Happy Anniversary I Love You Kiddo!

I agree with Jeff here, if your battery is a little bid heading south it will screw your charging capacity all up. Charge the battery up to full and have it load tested, thats the only way your going to know if the battery is good. Check the 3 wires coming from the stator into the wiring harness. Many times the plugs will get some dirt in them and start to corrode and get hot, this will prematurely kill the stator over time. Many members will remove that plug and solder the wires together to have optimal charging capacity.

1st gen throttle cable replacement

Dave, I will mention, from some headaches, that you want to be able to get at everything. For me it's easier to pull the front fairing as the junction point is buried behind the left side inner fairing panel. There might be a way to sneak your hands in there, but I want all the room I can get to play with something like that. If your bike has the factory cruise control, pay very close attention to how it all comes apart. Take your time and if you get frustrated, walk away from it for a while. If you run into any issues and need some help, my number is in my profile. -
It was in Houston Texas with a bad top end!!!, what do I win!?

which would you choose,I need a new seat

Mike.....They are NOT cheap, they are custom fitted for your height and weight. The website has it in the $600 range for leather, but arguably could be the last seat you ever buy... http://www.day-long.com/seat_prices.html -
Oooh Oooh Oooh I know I know, Pick me Pick Me!

I have removed all the duct work associated with the vents on the dash. Surprisingly you will get reasonable air flow through them without all the duct. You might want to try that 1st before you try to make cubby holes out of them...

You dont know how hard it was for me to bite my tongue

If you wonder why that is Donnie, I'll give you a insight. The rear brake calipers on the RSV and TD's are constantly dragging. This is why you'll hear some of the members talking about flipping their rear pads around, the inside pad is always dragging on the rotor as the caliper doesn't completely pull the pistons back in on the rear. Usually 2 rear sets to 1 front sets from all the ones I have worked on.
