Check your side stand, flip it up, put it in neutral and give that a try.

Nice job, nothing better than hearing one of the old ones fire up. Now get her together and see what she'll do! -

Mike, Your looking for the black plastic piece on top of the fairing where the radio would sit in correct? If so and Golf&Venture is thinking of the same thing, the MKI and II's are going to be the same.

Your best bet is to go with some Firestik antennas as you can choose the length and color you want. The factory ones are 1 length and thats it they aren't plug and play, you'll have to purchase new mounting hardware to get them to work on the RSV.

replacing clutch and brake fluids
Squidley replied to dguess's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Dan, Without a pic, I'll tell you exactly where it is. Left side of the bike (as your sitting on it) there are 2 cases on the engine. The fwd one is larger and is where the stator is, the smaller one directly behind it is the middle gear cover. Go directly between both of them and up about 2" you'll see a square black rubber cover, lift that up and there is the clutch bleeder. A word of advise, the speed bleeders will get in the way of all the fins and whatnot. You might have to remove that rear fin cover to access the bleeder, so if your comfortable doing it the old fashion way, thats what I would do.... -
Kidney Stones, Infections, Allergic Reaction, now double vision.
Squidley replied to etcswjoe's topic in Watering Hole
Joe, I have had a couple of Kidney Stones....Holy Sheot! I have had some pain in my life, but that one sucked the most. Your not being a baby, and your Doc probably hasn't had them. I didn't experience your issues, but I had to let mine pass on their own. Those will bring any man to his knees. I wish you the best on getting it out, you'd be amazed how much that little stone hurts getting out -
Do yourself a favor and run a dedicated powerline from the battery to the relay. #1 It will give the passing lights all the power they want and they will be as bright as they were designed to be. #2 You wont have to do any splicing into factory wiring, I hate doing that as it can turn into trouble later down the road. I have run driving lights without switches on the last 3 bikes I owned as I want them on at all times. Good luck with the install

Mark, I personally haven't pulled a camper, but there are a few here that have. Some of the set ups are pretty sweet, even set up with a hole for an AC, which for me would be a must have when riding in the summer. I can't "Tent" camp anymore, my back wont take it, but some of the campers have queen sized beds and that would be nice. My biggest caution on pulling a camper (and folks will argue with me on this) is having a set of brakes on the trailer. I've heard it all, and I have several friends that pull without brakes, but in that oh chit moment when you have to stop quick, you really will wish you had brakes on that trailer. I have built many trailers, and pulled them for well over 30K miles behind various Ventures. If you really think your going to get into it, and you can afford it, get a camper. If your not sure and want to tent it, buy a trailer.....

Jack, The headlight assembly on your '86 is a rigid mount, meaning that the casing doesn't move, the reflector inside the housing is what is adjusted. There is no right to left adjustment, the housing is centered in the fairing. Sometimes it's a bit of a bear to get the pegs in the bottom and tweak the upper bolt ears behind the fairing and into place. You have to push with a decent amount of force to seat the top posts as the spring inside the reflector is pushing against you. Now that this is clear as mud, do you have another question

Rodney, Have you taken the rear master cylinder and reservoir apart? If not I'll bet dollars to donuts that your rear master cylinder is full of crap and not letting the expansion hole in it do it's job. Usually it's the rear that locks up, due to the brake line being so close to the exhaust and heating up. Thats where your thermal expansion will get you, the relief hole is plugged and the expanding fluid is going to go somewhere...to the rear caliper and lock it up. It happened to me trying to head to a M&E trying to outrun a storm. Was only about 15 miles from home so I headed back right into that rain. The rear master is a bit of a pain to judge on it's fullness, I usually get it to about half an inch from the top. I take metal hanger and dip it down past the top lip, mark that spot and pull it out to see where it's setting at.
