    Mileage

Thats good mileage, I have heard of a select few getting that kind of mileage. Venturous and Skid have done it on their 1st gens, but not too many others that I have heard of. Out of the 5 1st gens I have owned, my best mileage was 42, but I average 39 on all my other Ventures, which has been 9 of them. It's all in how you can stay out of the throttle...I can't do that very well

  4. As long as your not mixing a radial with a bias ply you shouldn't have any noticeable issues.

  7. If I'm not mistaken Frog Man in West by God Virginia ran some Kenda's, you might want to PM him and see if that is true.
  8. Zipcode had pretty much all of it hid in the headlight bucket. I don't know if the room is the same on your like his TD, but that's a good place to start with it. Lots of places to hide stuff, just have to be creative....

  10. Folks I am going to make this a read only thread.
  11. Folks this is a hot issue, and one that has been hashed out here before. We all have our views, and for the most part, we are very passionate when it comes to anyone forcing their will on us. I see feathers getting ruffled right now. This thread is still here because it hasn't got ugly yet, but I see some tempers already rising. Please keep it civil and dont start any personal attacks....dont forget that your burning your popcorn.
  12. We'll leave the light on for you in TEXAS!!

  18. Hmmmmmmm Does she know anything about cats that came from the "Pet Cemetary"
  19. Folks, This is already turning into a hot bed, dont turn it personal against one another. We all know the rules on this site, if you can't abide by a few simple ones, feel free to go to another website and talk all you want about this....but not here.
  20. Be careful bro and have a safe trip...I know you'll have fun, thats just a given

  23. He's stripping his 1st gen down to make a custom, and he's offering up his plastic and such Bubber
  24. Yes, it wont hurt anything, matter of fact, keep giving it doses of Seafoam or B12 Chemtool. Ride it like you stole it, if you can get on a stretch of slab and run it at better than 70 mph. You'll be amazed at how much better it will run after you crank it up on a good long higher speed run.
  25. Tom, Dont sweat the small stuff, to be very honest with you, with that low amount of miles I wouldn't worry about the valves for another 20K miles. IF, the valve covers are leaking and you want to replace them, then check the valves, but normally the majority of all the bikes I have heard or worked on, haven't needed valve adjustments anything shy of 60K. The engine noise is probably not a big deal either, these bikes are known for whiny clutch baskets. The motors are pretty much bullet proof, try a different oil in the case, I personally have used Shell Rotella T 15/40 in all 9 of my Ventures. FWIW, when I buy a used bike, no matter what I hear the po tell me, I do a complete tune up. Plugs, wires, fuel filter, and change out all the brake fluids in the bike. This way I have a record of when I started the maintenance. I wish you were closer as I'd have you over to the house and we'd run through the bike. Hang in there a bit and I know one of the brethren in Georgia will chime in. If you want to come to Texas, I'll lodge and feed you and get your bike where it needs to be.
