  1. Total solar eclipses only occur somewhere in the world every 18 years or so. The next one will occur on August 21, 2017. While checking this out I found that the path of totality will pass in my area. In fact, it crosses right over the Cherahola Skyway. So, I think this would be a good place to ride and party on this day. Mark your Mayan calendar... Here are maps showing the path of totality... 2. Today was officially my last day of working as a nurse in a school for 22 years. I cannot say I can tell the difference yet. It is still not real to me. I know when it becomes August and I do not have to get ready to go back, I will suddenly say to my self, Hey this is going to be great! Except of course, I will never shop again. Hehehehehe! Yama Mama:smile5:
  3. Time to make a believer out of me. Since trading the RSTD back in August, I thought I'd probably let my membership here expire since we purchased a Victory. Well, I did, for a couple weeks, and really missed it. So I'm back onboard showing off our new ride. Since mid August we've logged about 5K on it. I think had I originally purchased a RSV and not the RSTD, I probably wouldn't be posting this but instead would still own the Venture. We love this Vision and wanted to share some pics. This is a great site and as Rumboogy said a couple weeks back, it's a shame more MC groups can't be this good. http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa76/looped1/CassvilleFallRideMissouri2011029.jpg http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa76/looped1/PopsArcadiaOklahomaTrip056.jpg http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa76/looped1/BikesBluesBBQandEurekaOct2011123.jpg http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa76/looped1/CassvilleFallRideMissouri2011507.jpg http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa76/looped1/NewPaintArcadiaandPopstrip149.jpg
  4. My CD player stopped working. I split the fairing and checked the connection there and while I was at it, I put the dielectric grease on all the connectors. Everything seems to be properly connected, but the cd selection does not come up on the control panel. Is there a separate fuse for the cd player? It worked great when we used it last in August.
  5. Just buy chance if you live in the area, end of August I'm riding through http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=17932+Southwest+29th+Lane,+Miramar,+FL+33029&daddr=Hardeeville,+SC+to:Murfreesboro,+NC+to:Cape+May,+NJ+to:Roselle+Park,+NJ+to:Plattsburgh,+NY&hl=en&sll=25.981931,-80.385589&sspn=0.014255,0.026736&geocode=FetzjAEdy2k1-ymTJ8Te6qPZiDEqSfRHlc6YXg%3BFaWp7AEdps4q-ymn1y27z5b7iDFPjGgv_XZugQ%3BFQcRLAIdsZFn-ymJFbgK9NGviTFh4Bc6k-XaXQ%3BFUgaUgIdawaJ-ymV9-46RFS_iTGi9HPhnPe3wg%3BFeN9bAIdB9GS-ymTiai-YrLDiTFw4pCtWvI3yQ%3BFV8PqgIdkDKf-ynXfqXoqDjKTDEVdFPFoeiwtQ&mra=ls&t=h&z=5
  6. Save the date.........August 6th 2011.......for a cruise on Lake Ontario and the Genesee River. Sheila & I are hosting a M & E in August. I wanted to buy a party barge, but my wife said something about finding me floating in Lake Ontario, ............face down! So, I decided to do the next best thing and let someone else do the driving and we can enjoy the scenery. After the cruise we will return to our home for a picnic style dinner and a custom ice cream sundae bar. Yes, Big Tom....there is something for everyone! Build your own banana split!!! :fnd_(16): We have room in our yard for a few tents if you would like to spend the night, and a hot tub and a beach for a swim in the lake. See the details in the Meets & Eats Forum. We hope to see you there!! Jim & Sheila
  7. It all began with an iPhone... March was when my son celebrated his 15th birthday, and I got him an iPhone. He just loved it. Who wouldn't? http://i975.photobucket.com/albums/ae239/expat97883/OneTimers/onetimers18/iGift/1.jpg I celebrated my birthday in August, and my wife made me very happy when she bought me an iPad. http://i975.photobucket.com/albums/ae239/expat97883/OneTimers/onetimers18/iGift/2.jpg My other son's birthday was also in August so I got him an iPod Touch. http://i975.photobucket.com/albums/ae239/expat97883/OneTimers/onetimers18/iGift/3.jpg My wife celebrated her birthday in September so I got her an iRon. http://i975.photobucket.com/albums/ae239/expat97883/OneTimers/onetimers18/iGift/4.jpg It was at this moment that the fight started...... What my wife failed to recognize is that the iRon can be integrated into the home network with the iWash, iCook and iClean. This inevitably activates the iNag reminder service. I should be out of the hospital by Monday but Doc says I'll have permanent scars and always walk with a limp!
  8. My first wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to WallyWorld. Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunate she, like most women, loves to browse. Near the end of this first marriage, my dear wife received the following letter from the local WallyWorld . . . Dear Mrs. Jones, Over the past six months, Gary has caused quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behavior and have been forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against your husband are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras: 1.. June 15: He took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in other people's carts when they weren't looking. 2.. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals. 3.. July 7: He made a trail from a jar of brown gravy on the floor leading to the both the lady’s and men’s restrooms. 4.. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, 'Code 3 in Housewares. Get on it right away’. This caused the employee to leave her assigned station and receive a reprimand from her Supervisor that in turn resulted with a union grievance, causing management to lose time and costing the company money. 5.. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&Ms on layaway. 6.. August 14: Moved a 'CAUTION - WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted area. 7.. August 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told the children shoppers he'd invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department to which twenty children obliged. 8.. August 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed, 'Why can't you people just leave me alone?' EMTs were called. 9... September 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose. 10. September 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were. 11. October 3: Darted around the store suspiciously while loudly humming the ' Mission Impossible' theme. 12. October 6: In the auto department, he practiced his 'Madonna look' by using different sizes of funnels. 13. October 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, yelled 'PICK ME! PICK ME!' 14. October 21: When an announcement came over the loudspeaker, he assumed a fetal position and screamed 'OH NO! IT'S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!' And last, but not least: 15. October 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, then yelled very loudly, 'Hey! There's no toilet paper in here.' One of the clerks passed out.
  9. THis has been a long winter and I am getting more than a little bit stir crazy so I cant be held resonsible for my thoughts...lol I think we should start up a list and add everyone to it that makes a comment about how nice and warm it is, and bugs us about the cold and ice, and that they rode, blah, blah, blah .......and then put that list in a safe place until the really hot weather hits them in August when they dont want to ride and we should all send them pictures and notes reminding of all the fun we are having where we are. Ok, now who wants to be first on my list......... Brian
  10. Things to do if your wife insists you go shopping with her. After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Target. Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunate, my wife is like most women - she loves to browse. Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from the local Target. Dear Mrs. Harris, Over the past six months, your husband has caused quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behavior and been forced to ban both of you from the store. July 7: He made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women's restroom. 4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, 'Code 3 in House wares. Get on it right away'. This caused the employee to leave her assigned station and receive a reprimand from her Supervisor that in turn resulted with a union grievance, causing management to lose time and costing the company money. 5. 11. After the tragic accident that took the lives of four riders here last August this sounds like a nice memorial to them. Council Bluffs memorial to honor four dead cyclists Council Bluffs, Ia. — A western Iowa group has started work on a new building that will honor four motorcyclists killed in a crash last August. Ground was broken Saturday for the Fallen Four Memorial Building in Council Bluffs, and construction is scheduled to be complete in August. Keith Callaway of the Western Iowa American Legion Riders said the facility will "bring awareness to what happened to our brothers, but also the impact it has on families, communities and the nation as a whole." The victims were Dennis Chaney, 62, and Dale Aspedon, 49, both of Glenwood, Steven Benscoter, 62, of Pacific Junction and Jay Bock, 48, of Omaha. The men were returning from a motorcycle rally in Sturgis, S.D. http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/20101213/NEWS/101212014/1001/Council-Bluffs-memorial-to-honor-four-dead-cyclists

  13. OK, this is pretty much a no-brainer. Since Dairy Queen seems to be the "Official Pitstop" for just about everyone on this Forum, I hereby suggest that we proclaim next Thursday, August 5th, 2010, as the "1st-Ever Official DQ Day for VR.org". Now, why would I suggest such a thing? It's simple, really. DQ is donating at least one dollar for every Blizzard purchased on August 5th to the Children's Miracle Network. We all like children; we all like DQ; and we all like Blizzards. Feed your face and help the children all at the same time. What could be better? Please click this link for more info and please participate next Thursday: http://www.miracletreatday.com/ Thank You! TERRY
  14. Got to ride to work today. 1/2 block visibility due to fog, but it was 45 degrees and the roads were empty-ish. That's a great way to end the year. Sorry to you in the snow belt. I'll do my complaining in August when it is 105 (and I am still riding LOL). May 2010 be your best year yet! Dave

  24. I know it may be a odd subject... But I need to know. What do you guys wear for underwear on a long road trip? We are planning a 4000 mile ride this summer in early August thru the midwest. Its going to be HOT and sweat will be a problem. Cotton underwear just doesn't cut it. What do you recommended and why? Thank you
  25. I have already gotten some great ideas for stops along the trip from PA to Maine this august. Thought that I would start another thread in the favorite roads and destinations section and maybe get some more suggestions. Thanks for any additional info!! Steve
