Thanks to my company downsizing, effective last week, 10/31 I officially joined the ranks of the retired. I always wondered how you knew when you had saved enough to retire. Now I know. At first I was a little pissed but after it set in and I ran through all of the numbers I realized I was ready to retire and should. I've not worked for the last couple of months and I'm really getting used to the time off. I've been catching up on a few household chores and taking a few weekday rides. I'll probably soon get bored enough that I'll get into something a couple of days a week. It's sure nice not to have to worry about solving problems every day. If I can offer a word of advice to those of you still working, SAVE! Dennis

Well the pinheads have gone and done it now. In their infinite wisdom they officially started my PMS for the season. We had a trace of snow over night, not even a measurable amount, (to be considered measurable it must be at least 0.1 inches) and the salt trucks were out in force. The roads have salt everywhere. Dry salt on dry asphalt is almost as slick as the ice it was intended to melt. So for me PMS has officially started until we get a couple of good heavy rains to wash the salt off the roads. Maybe I'll actually get some of the things on my todo list done this winter........... I'd rather still be riding......... . . Is it spring yet? . . Now is it? . . How much longer???? From this point forward I can take no responsibility for my actions. I am not in a correct state of mind. WHY did they do it?

Today was officially my last day of working as a nurse in a school for 22 years. I cannot say I can tell the difference yet. It is still not real to me. I know when it becomes August and I do not have to get ready to go back, I will suddenly say to my self, Hey this is going to be great! Except of course, I will never shop again. Hehehehehe! First off I retire son turns 18 and now we are happy new grandparents of our first grandbaby, a little girl! No pics...she is just hours old and we havent even been up to see them yet! Wow.....does that make me officially an old fart?

I just wanted to let anyone who is interested know that the tail of the dragon is now officially open. They finished working on the road today.

I am now officially an old timer. I will be getting two, count 'em, two hearing aides from the VA on 6/28. I guess the years in the artillery finally caught up to me. Maybe now I will be able to hear what my son is talking about regarding the brakes squeeking on Doreen's van. To al those going to Don's MD, have fun and watch out for yourselves, nobody else on the road will!! Dave
