1997-2001 Carb 28mm???
Squidley replied to wfdyer1's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Bill, Contact Pegscraper here on the site, he also has the early Royal Star and has done some heavy modification of his bike including upgrading to the bigger Venture carbs. He might have the old set of carbs that were originally on his bike or know of some available....- 6 replies

It might be something on your end, as the ability to add additional pics after the post has been made has always been there, atleast on mine it is

Jeff, If you are using the sites manage attachment option for your pics, go back to edit, go advanced, go to manage attachments and you can remove the pic that way.

Just some additional here, when you go to change out the spring and or the rear friction disc with a full sized one. Make sure that you scuff up the steels before reinstall them. This will remove any glazing that might have occurred if your clutch was slipping. I have done dozens of clutch upgrades, PCW, Skydoc's, and the cheap method of doubling up 2 stock springs. I have done all 3 methods on Ventures I have owned, and they all work great, it's all about how much money you want to throw at it.

'89 or '90 model Steve, had an '89 the same color and I put a good amount of miles on it. That one looks in good shape from the pics....enjoy your new toy

I just bought the same exact 2 hoses you pictured from Napa and put them on my '86. I did modify the one that goes to the front of the engine as I didn't like how it routed. I installed a brass barbed fitting to shorten the length after the 1st bend, it fit a bit better now. FWIW, your going to have to use the factory clamp at the head section. install it at the bottom of the hose and spray the inside of the hose with some WD40 it is a bear to get on as the wall thickness of the new hose is a bit thicker...but it will go on.

The handle bars on your 1st gen are moveable in 2 different axis. The main bars can be swung in or out as they have serrated mounting posts. The black tube extensions are also moveable with the same serrated type movements and can be moved up and down. Make sure that the triple tree is squared up, and if it is then go onto the bars and adjust them to what feels good for you.

What specifically are you looking for information on Eddie? I have ridden several, pro's and con's to them like any bike. Low speed balanced much better, can get VERY hot riding in the heat, lots and lots of bling that can be added. Not as ergonomically comfortable as some bikes I have ridden (RSV is still a better fit for me personally) Great charging system and stereo to boot....what gives buddy?

Plastic Panels on Top of Head?
Squidley replied to GaryZ's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If your TCI is still in the stock location I would probably keep the front one in as it will help to keep some of that heat off the TCI box.... -
I have always included the spacers in the front springs when I switched to the progressives. I cut mine at 3/4" and have had no issues with that measurement, 1" will make it a bit stiffer, but not hurt anything. The 5 1/2" down from the top of the fork tube is good, be anal on the measurements in both tubes so that they are exactly the same. You can take a little out if you get too much in with a paper towel. Also make sure that when you drain it all out that you put some of the oil in, without the springs installed and cycle the fork tubes up and down so you get all the air out of the lower portion of the tubes. The level measurement is with the fork tubes collapsed completely, without the springs installed. If you run into problems my # is in my profile....good luck with it
