  1. Exactly why I moved from Omaha, NE in 1986! I have only seen snow three times since then. I don't miss it and I love the normally decent winter climate of NC.
  2. OOPS duplicated message
  3. Still looking. If you saw my garage you would understand.
  4. They don't work well with satellite as I found out a few years back, but when dsl became available I had it run to my house. Then I got the magic jack back and it works very well for me. And my computer is much faster than with Hughs net.
  5. The near impossible happened Christmas day to many of us in the SE, and that meant a lot of snow (last snow on Christmas locally was 1947). I have no problem with it since I am originally from Nebraska, but the locals want to drive just as fast as in the summer heat. We have had lots of wrecks and injuries. I for one just stayed home Sunday.
  6. A year and a half ago I decided to try the Magic Jack with my DSL. I still have it and it is great. I have no landline and don't need it. The Jack does it all and it has always been crystal clear. For $20 a year it can't be beat and I can call anywhere in continental USA or Canada. My
  7. Like other posts we don't do presents for the family. Jana and I adopted six Angel Tree children and got them all they wanted. We also donated cash to the Barium Home for Children. My brother-in-law gave me a 10' pull down ladder for the garage since I store so much above. Now all I have to do is clear an area big enough to install it. I can remember when the garage was clean. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to my VR family.
  8. If I can find it, I have a 30 psi low pressure hand pump that I will give you. You pay postage. I will look for it on Sunday.
  9. And I thank you, Don, for the wonderful forum to learn and experiment with these beasts we love so much. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
  10. I have K&N filters and they are fine. I only got them for more breathing for my Venture and that I would not have to buy paper filters again. As far as horsepower, I doubt any increase is provided. They will allow better air to the system and that in itself is an increase in performance.
  11. I looked hard for the differences but realized that if the are identical pictures, then there are no differences. So I just hit the "back" button.
  12. Whatever our US speed limit is, I will add about 8 mph to this. Therefore on lots of the Interstate I am doing about 78 MPH. I have not had a ticket in at least twenty five years.
  13. You must be in the wrong place because there are hundreds of R* and Ventures at Rolling Thunder. I ride as a VIP escort and carry a wife, mother or sister as a passenger for this event. It is humbling when you listen to their sacrifices for their country. I will be at Rolling Thunder again this year. I stay in Springfield, VA with many others and the STAR group is at a hotel there also.
  14. Another "Welcome Aboard" to you. Lots of information on RSVs and TDs and VRs and Viragos and (well you get the drift) contained in this site. There are a bunch of misfits though that I felt you should know about. I would post their names but since I am the worst of them it would be futile.
  15. This is my Hopnell bra. I had my leatherman copy it and include the pouch. I have the original in my shop.
  16. I love them and have never had a problem. My good friend and I have dyna beads in 2 Ventures, 1 HD Ultra, 1 Indian Vintage, 1 Triumph Bonneville and 1 1100 Virago. Enough said.
  17. Why would I care? I love the dyna beads and have them in Dunlop tires. They run very smooth, I have no weights glued to my wheels and they are reusable. There are lots of negatives on this subject but the overall feeling is that they work and they work great. I and my good friend have them in six motorcycles from Ventures (2) to Indians to Harleys and Triumphs and a Virago. We love them! Speak all you want to about how worthless they are but that won't make a difference. Try them for yourself. My local Yamaha dealer is using them instead of weight balancing and they have no problems with them.
  18. This will be my next buy when my arthritis gets worse. A buddy that I only see on Memorial weekend at the Rolling Thunder event in Washington, DC put this on his Venture. He had arthritic fingers and he loves this. He can lay rubber when he wants to and doesn't need the clutch control.
  19. I will make a large kettle of chili with vinison and pork on one day, refrigerate it overnight and reheat at simmer for 6 hours the second day. Then it is ready to eat. Whatever is left I vacuum seal and freeze. Weeks or months later it is just as good as the time we first ate it. Got to go check the freezer now!
  20. I am so thankful for: My wife of forty years, Jana, who I love dearly. My 37 year old son, Kevin, and my 33 year old daughter, Beth, that have never caused me grief. My five rescue dogs who love me unconditionally. My 02 RSMV, Sylvester, who has carried me over 135,000 miles without incident. And my 1946 Ford 2N tractor which gives me great pleasure keeping it running. Merry Christmas!
  21. What was the mileage when you undertook this job? I usually change fork oil in about 30k miles. It is always dirty and needs it. I have the Gold Emulators and love their performance.
  22. 11 degrees in Bessemer City, NC yesterday morning, that's 27 mi. west of Charlotte.
  23. Do they still sell Genesee? Wasn't that made by Hamms? Anyway welcome. We need all the crazies we can get.
  24. I am very happy for your win . Overcoming the fact that you are in summer, this is a great achievement. (I wonder what Christmas in summer is like, kinda hard to feel warm at the fire I guess)
  25. Money sent paypal today for black.
