Big Bore Kit inquiry
Sylvester replied to VentureT's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Now that was a bike. I rode a white dresser of this model. I think I hit 49 mph on a down hill run. Nice plastic front fender (I remember).- 17 replies

Big Bore Kit inquiry

You can get a 1500cc engine from PCW racing (just Google) for a fee or you can send them yours for rebuild. They specialize in V-Max motors and also do the Venture motors. I have a buddy with one of their motors and a V-Max rear drive and it is extremely fast. It is a black cherry 06 model, so if you are around central NC don't try racing a stock looking 06 Venture.- 17 replies

I saw an ad for a 85 Virago that said "needed work" and the price was $300 OBO. Now since that was cheap I thought this would be a good buy. I went to look at it...what a junker. The lady said it ran but she couldn't get me to believe that since there were no carbs (supposedly in the shed) and it was rusted all over. No seat on it, repainted candy red (spray can job), all brakes froze and gauges broken out. At least I got the chance to look at it first.

With that big can of energy it would probably beat a gen 1 in reverse.

I don't believe a 99 RSV will still have a warranty. I am curious why you only use mid grade gas now after the fuel pump died. I have 135k miles and always use regular on my 02.

I am just old and cranky, but WHY? Buy a Harley if you want it. -
I don't have much winter here so I am not a good sample. That being said, when I lived in Nebraska the head mchanic for the construction company I worked for would not let us run the gas engines until they died for lack of fuel. He said that it was worse for the carbs than leaving them wet, and we didn't have fuel additives then.

The family always should come first. The motorcycle family will understand.

I buy SeaFoam at $6.90 per can here in NC. I heard the price may go up so I bought twelve cans.

They were made by Barons for Yamaha, but Barons also sold them. I bought two engine breather covers and two carb covers in 05 from Barons at a Star Days event. They were on sale the last day and I paid $110 for all.

I can take two buck and two antlerless and two doe this year by rifle. I couldn't eat that much in five years so I will wait for a buck and/or a nice doe. My deer camp is on my back deck. They come in real close to nest in my fields. All I do is put up a camo cover over the railings on the deck and sit back and wait. Not anything like all the work I used to do for a deer.

The fellow with the microphone must have been Tonto. That is one harmonica playing fool. Nothing like the Harmonicats of the fifties and sixties, although I loved the little person with them.

If you get 30K miles off those tires, then you are the king of tire life. I will stay with what works for me.

I have had nothing but Dunlop D 404s on my 2000 Ultra Classic and my 02 RSMV and I am totally pleased. I have my own tire changer and balancer, and I can run the D 404 for less $s per mile than anything else. They give great traction wet or dry and serve me well. Yes if you want to pay bigger money for E-3s or Avon Venoms, you are welcome to do so. I get 14,000 miles off a D 404 for a lot less front end money.

I have five large dogs of questionable lineage but they all will let me know if there is someone close to my acreage. God bless these dogs! This gives me plenty of time to arm myself. I don't know weather Mormons or Seventh Day Adventists are included on my hunting license so I would not take them down. Probably tough meat anyway!

Just last week I posted on a thread about how my 02 RSMV with 132,000 miles has never had a problem with the monoshock, whine or chirp. One member replied that I just blew it and problems would be coming now. So I am always looking for oil spots. I am sorry for your problem but it could have been worse...it could have happened to me!!!

Depending on what housings you have there is a difference in diameter on passing lights. I had a friend order after market lights for a Venture and the sealed beams would not fit. Turns out the light housings were after market for a Road Star.

Being from the country, it is no safer here in the "Sticks". I have law a enforcement background and the local county police stop by and chat now and then. They have been doing a lot of license "check points" and they have a large supply of DUIs in the county jail now. Each and everyone of these guy/gals can kill you. And they are arresting them at mid-morning and afternoon hours. They had one lady who had her twelve year old son driving her because she was too drunk to drive!!! I don't worry about the deer as much as the human. Lord help us all,

I would strongly suggest you put some fuel stabilizer in the tank and run it for ten minutes or more to get the treated gas into and through the carbs. I like SeaFoam but there are others.

Finally got around to posting the pictures. I had to drain all the gas and Kreem the tank, adjust the valves and new plugs but she is running great. She looks almost new! I ordered new tires because these old Qualifiers are cracking. I went with D 404s.
