  1. I live in North Carolina west of Charlotte 30+ miles. I ride all over the country though. Roads everywhere have rough areas especially on two lane roads. Can't help you on where to buy them since I have had them for so many years.
  2. I have had the Racetech Gold Emulators in for over 100,000 miles and they are great. I never changed the springs and don't know why you would. When the fork oil gets dirty you will know it because the ride changes drastically.
  3. WHAT, are you crazy? Just kidding, ride what you want.
  4. That ought to slow him down. Unless he hits the loto and goes for broke!
  5. I would order another but you did so well on the first, I have no need for another. But I will e-mail a friend who wanted one.
  6. If you rode down main or Lazelle street it would take over an hour to go 5 blocks. That is the main reason I don't go there anymore.
  7. Have you comletely drained and flushed the system? Have you replaced any hoses and radiator cap? At the age and miles they would be suspect. I have changed my hoses and cap. Other than that you may have a gasket/O ring leak.
  8. The fan will kick on at around 215 degrees. If your water pump isn't growling then it is working fine. When you change you coolant next time, open the pump and check for wear and have another O ring seal on hand. I have 131,000 miles on the original pump.
  9. I don't agree! The RSTD bars are wider and have more pull back than the stock RSV bars. It adds the "power steering" effect to the rider and is way more comfortable. I have had them on for three years and love them. I rode a friends RSV last week and felt like I had to man handle the machine in curves and turns. I was glad to get back on my bike. He took mine for a ride when I told him about my ride with his bike, and he wants the RSTD bars now also.
  10. No leakage, vent appears clean and I have no other thoughts.
  11. Just drained the rear Hypo oil and there was milk in the oil. It was changed in March and about 7000 miles ago. I went on a rideabout to Omaha-Dallas-Charlotte and rode in a fair amount of rain but not terrible. What seals do you think are failing? The bike has 131,300 miles.
  12. What was the early step through model with the two speed on the left. That was my first powered two wheeler except for the lawn mower engine on a bike frame. Hid in a friends garage and when it ran (tough to get started) we had a lot of fun with it. I moved up to a Eagle in 1959 (I think).
  13. I was on that stretch of highway in June on my way to Omaha and then again leaving Omaha going to Dallas. It is a real danger and even thought it is 45/55 mph and no passing, they pass and speed without regard to the rest of the traffic.
  14. I have only had one, an 02 Midnight Venture with 131,000 mile now. Never needed another since this one is perfect.
  15. It turns out some. Works great for me.
  16. The early first Gens are faster, the later are marginal. I have a good friend with an 06 RSV that will whip any of the 1st or 2nd gens. BUUTT he has a built 1500 cc PCW engine with a V-max rear end. And he has an additional $7500 + in it.
  17. I'm good with the brass. Nobody has noticed so far anyway.
  18. Those that install these gauges would be best served if they stuck the temp end in boiling water. I had one installed (last year) and it read 230-250 degrees when running. I bought another temp gauge and before installing it I checked it with the hot water and it said that boiling water was 190 degrees. So I got another and it was correct. Ponch did a great job with these kits and I am proud to have one on my RSMV.
  19. I have them under the tank (strip) and directional lights front and rear of engine plus fork mounted and rear swing arm mounted. But in all reality I rarely turn them on since I avoid night riding unless I am touring.
  20. You would get the same with a set of RSTD bars. I have them and they work great.
  21. I had the Gold Emulators installed in my front at about 29,000 miles and now with 131,000 miles I am still very happy with them. Just change the fork oil every couple years.
  22. It is a clock and a thermometer!
  23. I have installed the Formotion clock and temperature and it does well. The clock at least. I took off the thermometer since it always told me that it was too hot to ride.
  24. I like the Dunlop 404 tires and have used them for years. My 02 RSMV has close to 131,000 miles and the Dunlop has been on for 90% of these miles. I change oil at 5,000 and rear end at 10,000 miles. I have never had an issue with my motorcycle.
