  1. My wife and I are planning to motor around the east coast next summer around June. In order to have more riding we are planning on shipping the bike to Va and working our way back to Idaho. Having never done this before I thought I'd see if anyone here has ever shipped their bike. I'd like to know Who did you use? How was the pickup done? How was the delivery done? Did you have to be there to meet it or could they hold it until you showed up? Were you satisfied? Anything I need to look out for? Thanks for any help.

  3. I need help. The oil pipe delivery broke and is putting out some kinda oil. I tried cutting it and using a piece of hose but to not much avail. If you got one laying around please PM me.
  4. On May 3 at 9pm EST I went online and ordered a Carbtune Pro. $110 Cdn was billed to my credit card (Carbtune and case 67 Pounds) immediately. Promised 10 day air mail delivery. Today, May 10th, the package was delivered at about 10:30am EST. Basically 6 days delivery from the U.K. to Canada. Package marked as a motorcycle guage and no tax, no duty, no brokerage fees. Considering I've ordered from the U.S. before and shipped UPS and it has taken 2-3 weeks (including time held up in Customs) and cost me sales tax and Customs/brokerage fees. USPS is faster than UPS with no brokerage fees and occassionally sales tax added. 6 days from the U.K..... priceless !

  7. Do new Ventures come from the factory with the "I" basket installed? May be interested in buying a 2011 Venture S and I'm wondering if I'll have to go through the trouble of getting the basket changed prior to delivery. Also, has anyone heard any news of a Venture re-design? Is there a new and improved Venture coming out soon? Thanks!
  8. Hey folks- an odd thing I think I noticed; perhaps somebody can clear it up for me. I'm fairly new to the Venture (just upsized out of a 750 Vulcan last summer) but not to motorbiking. Can somebody tell me; were there optional colors for the wheel rims somewhere along the MKI-MKII line? In the owner manual and in several of the photos I've seen on the site here, it looks like the circumferential rim (except the outer lip and machined spoke faces) is black. A few owners seem to have had theirs powder coated or otherwise painted to match custom paintjobs on their fairings, etc. And then there's mine- the whole wheel (again, excluding the actual machined surfaces) is more of a matte silver finish that looks like what you'd have from beadblasting aluminum. When I took delivery of my 93 in July last year it was quite dirty so I spent a fair amount of time with a 3M wheel on the die grinder trying to clean it up good, but it didn't look like the wheels had ever been black before. Any idears? Just curious- I didn't do any real research on it because I know the fine folks here will answer in short order anyway.
  9. So last night I submitted an application for a part time driver job to give me something to do during the winter. I received an answer and everything screams SCAM!!!! I looked up the address and it exists, I looked up the name and address and one of the returns directs me to a 419 scam web site. E-mail, request for information including scanned DL, most of the phone number, the language in the reply, everything throws up red flags. This is just effing great! just what I don't need. It's even worse I got the "lead" through a online job search engine (hotjobs.com). The answer to my application was sent at about 0400 local. 12. I live in Northern Alberta so finding tires, (and other parts), at a reasonable price is a chore. I did plenty of looking for a new rear tire, (140/90-16 or MU90B-16). I hit every shop in town but I found the best deal, by about 30 bucks at http://www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/dunlop- ... -tire.html. With taxes and free delivery it cost me a total of 160CAD, delivered to my door. Delivery took less than 2 weeks. I payed with Paypal. That may sound a lot for a tire but it was the cheapest I could find for this tire. I am pleased with my purchase there and thought I'd pass this info along.
  13. ok am i wrong to think this and what do you think? we have a pizza place. here in town about 5 miles down the road. well we got hungry and thought we would order a couple. well we were informed that besides cost of pizza there would be a $3.50 delivery. charge. my g/f got mad and said when the delivery person gets here. give no tip? as he gets the delivery fee. i thought this was wrong and slipped him 2 bucks:mo money:. now g/f said i was wrong. them kids are out there doing a job. and hey its the holiday season right? so im in the dog house for a lousy 2 bucks:Sad_0241:

  15. I just ordered a set of the saddle bag quick release Bolts. Man that was fast delivery, and they came by the U.S. postal service. They only took 3 or 4 days from time of order to delivery. Exellent service. I'm not sure who on here is selling them and when i went back they were all gone but the sellers name on E-bay was hilliss. I did a google search for the saddle bag quick release.
  16. Ole

    It's here!!!

I finally received my new bike today. December 15th I purchased a new Silver 2008 RSV S on EBAY. It took the dealer three weeks to assemble the bike and have it ready for delivery. Another week went by before the trucking company picked the bike up for delivery. Sit in a warehouse in Chicago for another two weeks and finally it heads to Texas last weekend. Dark thirty this morning the trucker is ringing my doorbell with the bike at her new home. WOOHOO!! It was a long wait but well worth it. Took it for a short spin today before the cold front blew in. Can't wait to get her on the open road. Snapped a couple of quick pics of her. Ken
  17. Yes, a successful delivery took place, although a couple of days ahead of schedule. Baby, mom & dad are all doing well. In fact, dad can't wait to take the baby on her first vacation ... Cheers,
  18. Since my mishap on 26 July I have been healing and my Midnight Venture has been in the Shop. The Dealer called me this afternoon to inform me that the bike is now complete! Tomorrow the Service Manager will be making the plan to trailer my scoot home to me. They are roughly 2 hours away from me and making the delivery free of charge. I have my fingers crossed for a Monday or Tuesday delivery. I can't wait to take her out on the road again.....
  19. I would appreciate your thoughts on this as I have a few questions, once again. Apologize for my ignorance upfront. - I can get warranty work at any Yamaha dealer I choose, correct, and not just the one I purchased the bike from? - When I got the bike home, first off it was really dirty, when I washed it yesterday and got it good and clean, I noticed a large scratch running all the way across my windshield….how should I go about getting that replaced, or can it be replaced since I already took delivery of the bike? If I can get it replaced would that be a warranty item? - I notice when I am decelerating the exhaust sputters some, not backfiring, just kind of like it is coughing (if that makes sense). I also noticed it does this when I rev’d in the garage yesterday. - How do I know if they even prepped the bike before I took delivery? My thoughts are all they did was roll it from the show room out to front of the building and wait on me to pick it up. Sorry for the questions, but this is a new bike and I want to make sure I get it off to a good start, and I simply do not trust these motorcycle dealers…at least not the ones around here. Thanks again for your help. jkt
  20. yesterday afternoon, i was heading into town, about 5 miles, and saw 5 brand new bikes! all were from the same dealership.all had paper tags. ONE was a yamaha(blue/black 07). all the rest were all black ,and were BIG, suzuki boulevards. what i figured from that, is "you can't sell something you don't have to show!" i think it is ridiculous, that a dealer, can only order/take delivery on a predetermined # of a certain model, based on the population of the area, which he serves!!!!!!!!! yamaha, is committing suicide, while suzuki is PROSPERING!!! just jt
