So what you are saying is "I can hook a mouse up to my audio"? What would that do?

I get by with just a kerosene space heater, but I am in North Carolina and don't have your northern cold to contend with.

Were there any improvements to the Venture over the last ten years?

The 02 RSMV has chrome forks but faster. -
Were there any improvements to the Venture over the last ten years?
Sylvester replied to Humbucker's topic in Watering Hole
There is one very important change made in the Venture. In 2002 they made the Royal Star MIDNIGHT Venture. This is reportedly been described as the fastest and sleekest of all the 2nd gen. Ventures. I can attest to this, since being the owner of one of these fine machines. -
Yes Freebird, you have it right. This is turning south real quick. Keep it simple and answer the original question. This is not a debate on gun carry but a simple question.

What the %*&#? There's a switch down there!
Sylvester replied to Mel's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
That little push button switch you found...remove it and throw it away. Go to a good auto/boat store and get a marine grade toggle switch and install it. If you don't do it now, you will later. You should use a relay also.- 32 replies

Where to buy shock?
Sylvester replied to kartattack's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have had my RSMV since 2001 and have never had a problem with the rear shock. Does anyone have an idea as to why the fail? I have over 132,000 miles without a problem. I have always tried to keep forty psi in air pressure. I have had the front rebuilt with gold emulators which work very well. -
I am happy that you have a good attitude. I survived T cell lymphoma in the early 80's when the survival rate was low. I attribute it to good attitude and family. Keep it up.

Were is the best to buy a new tire?
Sylvester replied to waterbug's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Ditto swmoto:farmer: -
I bought my neighbors 46 coupe in 1962. He had passed away and his wife had a newer car. Kept is stock other than a HiPo 289 and four speed. Nice sleeper. I wish I still had half the cars I used to own. I also had a 48 Chevy coupe.

So how well do cowboy boots work with 2nd Gen Controls?
Sylvester replied to GG54172's topic in Riding Gear
A tightly laced boot up beyond the ankle is the best protection. This gives ankle protection and firm control. That being said, I always wear western boots. Probably since I come from Nebraska originally and they give a higher lift on the pavement when flat footing the bike. -
Get the Diamond R lights and change you main tail light to an LED plus all your turn signals. And definitely have passing lights.

So why would a screw be the fault of the manufacturer? Doesn't really sound logical!

I am sorry but youse guys have way too much stuff. I have Ponch's gauges, a clock and a drink holder. No sense showing you this menial stuff since most of you have gone to the geek side.

If you have the leveling links you do not want a smaller front tire than stock. The smaller front does about the same as the leveling links and you would wind up with a heavier front weight load if you install both. There is no need for a larger rear tire for the Venture and if you install one you will probably have clearance issues. You can have clearance issues with some brand tires of the stock size. If you go to the dark side then all bets are off and you need to view that forum for info.

I run D404 WWW and have for over 100k. I like them very much and have never had a problem with them. No...they don't get 19k and I don't care. I want WW tires and The D404 gives me excellant rain handling and dry road grip. Four of my closest friends run them also without complaint.

I have had the dyna beads in front and rear on my 02 Venture since April and have put 10k on it. Absolutely flawless and smooth. I am very pleased with them. My dealer is now using them instead of weights.

When riding two up, I come into the drive and hit the brakes real hard. My wife wakes up and says "what the H***" and I say "open the door". Has worked for a long time. I feel a cold draft once in a while...like there is a Grim Reaper near by.

Based on your reply I would say you definitely need a larger stator and regulator. I have installed several Rick's Electrical stators for friends who thought they needed them but really did not.
-
Everybody likes to add something that is bigger and better. What have you heard that leads you to believe that you need a higher output stator? Just getting a bigger one doesn't mean that that is what you need.

My Sylvester and I have traveled 132K miles together without one failure. I will keep Sylvester until it is totaled or I pass on. I may purchase another bike in the future or I may not, but the one I have will always be the best I have owned in fifty plus years of riding.

All of my states are a combined motorcycling experience over nearly fifty years. I don't plan on visiting some parts of Mexico anymore, but I do plan on filling in the Pacific NW next year.

I feel left out. In the mid seventies I traveled MI, IN, OH, PA, WV, KY and some of NY; and none of you guys invited me over. I guess that means 2nd gens are of lower esteem in your eyes...

Besides the Midnight Ventures the only one that really got my attention over the years was the 09 Desert Sand and Black S model. I really love that color. Oh well, I guess I will wait some more for a different ride. I still have Sylvester with 132,000 miles and running strong.
