I do not notice any failure to wave per motorcycle. Some do and some don't. If I am shifting with my hand on the clutch lever, I nod. Sometimes I am preoccupied with other data and don't even see whether they wave or not. This not something that HAS to happen and in other countries it rarely happens. GET OVER IT! No harm done.

Prices on rear shock
Sylvester replied to flb_78's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I feel that it is time for me to look for a new rear shock. Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing amiss with the one I have. It does have 143,000 miles on it and with all this talk about them going south immediately, I may have to consider getting a replacement on the bench...just in case. Actually I have never had much go wrong witn my 02 RSMV. One clutch, tires and rebuild the front forks is all I have done. -
Dang, look what popped out of my wheel!

Dunlop D 404 is my whitewall of choice. Price is good and I get 10,000 miles on rear and more on front. They also handle well. -
Oil filter brand
Sylvester replied to Galapagos's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I have 139,000 miles on an 02 purchased in 2001. I use synthetic blend and NAPA gold filters. Enough said. -
I arrived at "mi casa" at 4:30 Monday. Total emotional drain and planning for next year. I have done this ride for many years and I always feel like I can never do it again. These MIAs and POWs and KIAs need our reverence. As long as I can, I will do this ride to honor our military.

I am pleased you have handed your daughter to a new husband. When I did that for my baby, I told her that when I go to my GOD, that I would have been fulfilled. Us old guys need to be content that the name and family continues.

Like Bobby said, it is a event packed weekend. I only see many of these people once a year and it is whirlwind of going here and there plus the rides to the monuments and all. Thanks for the invitation.

I have a going on eight year battery from my 02 RSMV. It is still running fine. I changed it out with a DEKA two years ago. Then I put it in my trail mower and it is still going strong. It is a Yuasa and I always keep the batteries on a tender.

I have had a desire for a lighter, agile bike for local riding. The 2011 America with it's under 900 cc engine feels great. It has forward controls and is very comfortable on the dealer floor. There is no way that I would ever delete my perfect 02 Midnight Venture. Has anyone had experience with the Triumph America?

Sylvester replied to back in the saddle 2's topic in Watering Hole
This is the right thing to do. These bums...er...gentlemen will make sure everything is in great order for your ride to Florida. And you can see the pond monster!!! -

My neighbor has this and it is always clean. The only problem is that you could never sink in it because it is so boyant. Try swimming along the bottom and it is almost impossible. I have no idea what system he uses.

Leaking Barons V4 Water Pump Cover
Sylvester replied to jryan's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Get a sheet of gasket material and cut it to fit the cover and you will be done with it. I did this five years ago and have not had a problem since. -

It is I who should salute you. I was dragged "kicking and screeming" from a warm bed and good meals. I did not want to be there, but the "Sarge" had other ideas. When I came home I was a deputy for the county sheriff for a few years, so we have much in common. Thanks for the kind words.
