  1. I will do that with my buddy tomorrow. Thanks,
  2. No freaking idea. I bought the bike in late 2001 and have 147,500 miles on it now. Never used it for commuting so most of the time while riding it was at 10+ hours per day. As of now I only ride it once or twice a month, but come fall the miles will rack up.
  3. Thanks, Ruffy, that may be our next procedure. Since the batteries in question will not take a charge, then I don't know how you would load test them.
  4. We did this two weeks ago and had 12 volts at the battery and with the bike running it was north of 13.5 and went up when reving the engine. All this is normal for this machine. The problem with not being able to recharge the battery is not with the bike (I think) since it is not running when the problem occurrs. There may be an acceleration of charge just before he shuts it down, but I cannot check that out, obviously.
  5. If it is indeed a 2006, there are only two washers one before and one after the "rear brake caliper bracket". And like you stated one washer and one nut for the axle.
  6. What bike is it off? Your profile says Venture Royale 2006. I don't know what that is!
  7. My buddy's RSV runs fine and all is good...most of the time. It will sit one day or several, but there will be a dead battery when he goes to start it. He is on his fourth battery since they will never re-charge. He called me and said it was dead again. Two weeks ago we checked every fuse for power drain and all was well with that at the time. I am thinking that the switch may be the problem and is coming on for some reason. It could set a week and start again fine or be dead overnight. Any opinions?
  8. I was under the assumption that when the bike (HD) got a certain distance away from the fob it would shut down. I know that is how my buddies 09 Ultra works. I drove it from his shop to the end of his drive and it shut down.
  9. Enjoy. I never liked the fiberglass dust, however back in the 60s and 70s I did like the asbestos dust from the brake and clutch reline shops. MAYBE NOT!
  10. If I ever change out my hot water heater, I am going with a tankless unit. My neighbor has one and it reduces energy by a lot.
  11. Sure it is not you passing gassey from the acceleration? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
  12. There is none. It is a futuristic thing that Yamaha deemed needing a fuse but no outlet. You can install one if you would like but I don't know anyone who has. It is located (the opening) on the left side close to the side cover at the battery.
  13. I had issues with the Metzler brand and won't use them anymore. I however love my D-404s. I put a lot of miles on so they get changed within a year, but I have been very happy with them.
  14. I wouldn't expect the steering bearing yet, but they could have been installed loose. When braking with front brake only you will feet the movement in the head if they are indeed loose. Tire would be suspect on a three or more years old bike. The tires themself could be six or more years old. If you don't feel the bearings moving, then a new set of tires are warranted. I would change the tires regardless. Make sure the tire air pressure is alright.
  15. Is it possible, remotely, that some previous person in stalled a relay? Therefore it could be the relay or a fuse before the relay. The relay would be mounted in the front fairing also, I would expect and the fuse close by.
  16. I can't believe this. This is the same problem I had with the knee blockers. I un-installed them.
  17. Gives visual meaning of the term "bone colletor". I would hate to lay that bike down.

Now you have been given all opinions, so I am sure you are just as confused as when you posted.
  19. I have one like Dingy showed and will send it to you tomorrow. Just pm me and it will be done.
  20. I heard on the news that they may use private businesses to be a postal drop.
  21. I may wash my 02 RSMV twice a year...if it doesn't rain on me while riding.
  22. Interesting that you had brake problems on Hwy 80. Two years ago on that highway I lost my back brake, too. My problem was the pads desinigrated on one side and left metal to metal. Got back down off the mountain very carefully and went home to replace the pads. Tuesday I rode with a couple buds up 181 and at one point wished I brought a jacket. Coming down 32,1 when we hit Lenoir, the heat was terrible.
  23. If you hear a clicking sound, the pins from the hub are too dry. Brake cleaner may be too harsh for this situation.
  24. Just a huge age thing. I am always looking for something, and it is usually within my site.
