I have purchased a used Hannigan side car
Sylvester replied to Sylvester's topic in Trike & Sidecar Talk
I would think that with the brake on the sidecar it would not be a problem on braking. I know that on excelleration it will pull right. The brake ties into my rear brake so they actuate together. It also has the electric camber control. I had a left side hack on an Ariel Square Four back in the sixty's I bought from an Air Force officer after he brought it back from England. Why didn't I keep that one? -
Dan I agree with Rick and I don't think a 900+# motorcycle in a swb Ranger will work. The handling will be terrible and the front end very light. Your talking 1/2 ton and a Ranger does not qualify. It will however pull a trailer with that much weight. I pulled my trailer with Sylvester on it to Rogers, AR and back to Charlotte with a Ford Escape and it did fine. Don't want you to end up in a ditch.

Expensive and just another reason to get pulled over and ticketed. -
Bought my 02 RSMV in 2001 and have never had a whine, chirp or disappointed ride. With 150.000 miles + I just bought a side car for my old age riding with my wife and sometimes dogs. Love the Venture. :clap2:

Rear tire change
Sylvester replied to AD5ME's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
That is not acceptable. You can get your tire change much less than that. Check around! And it should be done as you wait. You need to get the Carbon One adapter, it has made my life simple. I use a Sears jack I bought long ago for $79.00 and it is great. -
Rear tire change
Sylvester replied to AD5ME's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
With the Carbon One adapter, you can take it as high as you want and leave it there. I did a friends tires last month in his garage and he liked to freak out. He kept holding the bike as I jacked it up and I told him to let go there was no problem. Once the rear tire dropped out I went and started to remove the front and he wanted to put support at the rear in case the weight shifted. Again I told him to back off. His 06 RSV sat high and stable until we started reinstalling the wheels and new tires. He is a believer now. -
I am closer Dan, come get mine!

I would fear just getting the beast up on the bed. That is why I have a 5X8 CarryOn trailer. Easy to load on (drive it up the tail ramp), and I have a Wheel Dock bolted to the deck. That way when I get the bike on the trailer I hit the dock and realease the locking device. Then I can just get off the bike and tie it down without fear of it tipping. I added a tailgate strap on each side to accomocate the extra length of the RSV at the tour trunk. www.wheeldock.com www.carry-ontrailer.com

The first gen. are faster as I learned. The second gen. will whip a HD if it is stock as my friend found out. The V-4 develops its power on high rpms, while the vtwin gets torque for quick acceleration. My RSV will struggle to keep up with a HD Ultra until my rpms hit 4,000 and then while the HD is shifting I am in the power curve and never leave it. When I can hit 100 mph in third, the Ultra is in 5th or 6th. Now I have aother friend that has a PCW Racing 1500cc built 2006 RSV with a V-max rear end, he smokes most anything other than sport bikes.

I just pm'd you about the trailer and then saw this. I am sorry for you spill and feel somewhat guilty. Heal quickly and with little pain. I slid through and intersection doing the front brake boogy forty five years ago and I am very cautious of the front brake in the center of the lane.

Don't forget to use a relay!

This is the first I have read about this. "May the Good Lord hold her close" I will continue to pray for her and the family.

Yes it is not to mention being stranded.
-
The same reason I got rid of my 2000 Ultra Classic. Five stators in the first 8,000 miles.

Sorry to hear this and I have already sent prayers up.

Last I heard there is nobody producing these. I have a friend with one and he is not letting go of it. -

Just for you Russel and to shame Yammer Dan a bit. -

You really want me to die a slow and painful death, don't you? Hmmmm. Let me think. Bike on trailer... Picture of bike on trailer... Yah, that would work for me.... No the bike is in the garage and the sidecar is on the trailer. But I will go take a picture and post it this afternoon. -

I will keep you posted, Tom. Might be a bit of a battle. In all honesty I would like my wife in the car. After all these years, she still wants to jump around on the back of the bike when slowing down and stopped. My 66 year old knees are struggling to keep the bike upright. -

It is sitting on my trailer as of now. When I get it installed, I promise you will get the pictures. Yammer Dan has taught me the value of pictures, since he is in deep water over his shop project. If you would like I will take a picture of it on the trailer? Really not much to look at! -
Bought a used Hannigan Classic sidecar and will have the local dealer (UNB Customs) mount it soon. It came off a HD Ultra Classic so the mounts are a bit different. It has the electric camber, disc brake and dampner. Dealer will order parts Monday and let me know when they will be in. I plan on installing a new rear tire on the RSMV and new rear brake pads plus flushing the brake fluid on the rear. This should take care of the need to get to the rear for awhile. It comes with the quick disconnect brake line so I can dismount the car easily. I talked in depth with Muffinman and got the courage to buy it. My wife loves the idea of comfort while riding. I don't have the heart to tell her she is still on the back of the bike and the dogs get the car. :whistling:

Boring, that is the best I can say. Polaris and Kawasaki are making touring bikes, but poor old Yamaha keeps resurrecting the ages old V-4 Ventures/RSTD. I love my RSMV but I expect some new technology form Yamaha.

I am liking this. I will look into your web.

I pulled the trigger on a used Hannigan Classic last night and will leave tomorrow with my trailer to pick it up in Hernando, Ms just south of Memhis. It is black so I won't have to paint it and has the cambercontrol, brake system and dampner. I will have the local Hannigan dealer install it and I should be good to go. I haven't decided whether to leave it permanent or detach it for two wheel riding; so I won't install the rake, yet. Thank again Jeff, you were great help. I would have got a Motorvation if I could have found one, but this was just listed Monday and was a heck of a price compared to new.
