Although my hack is not mounted yet, I have installed fresh bearings in the rear wheel, pulled the drive shaft and lubed it, installed a new Dunlop D404 WWW, flushed the front and rear brake systems, and installed new rear brake pads. I have read from others that the front tire does not take the abuse that the rear tire does. I left my front Dunlop D404 WWW with over 10,000 miles on it on the bike. When the hack is installed, I will ride it through the winter to get used to it and decide about the rear tire and the front tire. I have spare rear wheel and may install a car tire on it for riding with the hack and keep the other wheel and tire for two wheel riding. If there is a problem with the stock front wheel I will get another front wheel and mount a tire backwords.

Being oily isn't necessarily the kiss of death for these shocks. They pick up oil from the drain tubes under the bike and from the road. In the case of my friends shock last year, it was toast.

I have purchased a used Hannigan side car
Sylvester replied to Sylvester's topic in Trike & Sidecar Talk
The mounts are from Hannigan. That is the only place to get them for a Hannigan car. -
Looks to me like the cylinder drain plug is leaking. I can't tell for sure but that is my opinion at this time. Have you had the cylinder side covers off recently? I am curious as to why you 07 RSV has silver side covers. Probably none of my buiness. Maybe it is the light in the photo.

I have a very simlar set that I bought in 2003 from JC Whitney. They have clearance light and turn signal. They do not have the "in mirror turn signal". They have been flawless for all these years.

I am not selling the sidecar. I look forward to using it. I plan on leaving it on through the winter and maybe forever. If I like the hack effect I will get the upper tripple tree so the steering will be simpler.

In the last three weeks I have purchased a used Hannigan Classic sidecar. As of now I am waiting for the rigging that will attach to my 2002 RSMV, this side car came off a HD Ultra. I think this is what I want, so I can take off the car and ride two up.

You can order from NAPA and get the same as the originals. I just installed a set yesterday.

I have purchased a used Hannigan side car
Sylvester replied to Sylvester's topic in Trike & Sidecar Talk
The arms to connect to my RSMV should be arriving this week. Then the fun will begin. I have installed a new rear tire, greased the drive shaft splines and pumpkin splines, greased the clutch hub pins, changed the differential fluid and flushed the rear brake fluid. Nothing more to do than wait. -
Cheaper to use Dyna Beads.

Dunlop 404
Sylvester replied to Blacksmith's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Find out what you like by trial and error like most of us have. I run Dunlop D404 WWW and have for over 100,000 miles without incident. Great wet and dry handling with over 10,000 miles per set (I change front and rear together and I use Dyna Beads). I will not speak ill of other tires I have tried. Enjoy what you get or get something else. -

So you keep your eye on the right foot area...I see a problem with crossing the center line or going off the shoulder.

I have the tube to the gauge and it works without a problem. Less headache than an electric sender IMHO.

Don't forget YammerDan's garage, we are all looking for a solution to his problem. I even offered to come and place the concrete. Lots of good info here. It is worth $50.00 a year.

You don't belong on this site, your garage is too neat.

LED Headlamps/Passing Lamps
Sylvester replied to DONATALIE's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have read through this and may have missed something. How does the LED headlight work with the audio? I understand that the passing lights have static in some instances. With my new to me sidecar I need to drop wattage since the car has a headlight also and two clearance/turn signals lights that are incandesent. The headlight on the car is not all that bright (smoked lense), more of an "I am here" but it does have a 55 W bulb. I think I found an LED to replace that with. What I am trying to attain is lower wattage so the heated clothing can be used without constantly monitoring the gauge and shutting down different power usage.
