  1. AMEN
  2. RIDE NAKED! That ought to be cool enough. Or get a big umbrella like on a farm tractor and mount it on your bike. Other than that there is no comfortable hot weather jacket...only cool/cold weather jacket whether mesh or otherwise.
  3. Did you clear coat them after the polishing?
  4. I have a spare rear wheel off another RSV and I want to strip the clear coat and polish the rim edge leaving the black spokes. Does anyone have experience at this. If it works out well I will do the front the same.
  5. I appreciate all responses. The battery drain is .0677 from the positive lead to the positive terminal. From the terminal for the backup functions it is .0677. I have disconnected the audio fuse and there is 0.0000A across this. I have disconnected the CC fuse and there is 0.0000A across this. I will try more testing tomorrow, but as of now I can't find a source for the drain. Keep in mind that over the last five years there have been four batteries installed. Thanks again,
  6. The power drain on the battery is all going to the backup functions. Across the fuse leads it measures .0667A whereas my RSMV only measures .0244A. Obiously one of the backup items is over-drawing. Any ideas other than disconnect them one at a time?
  7. Mike, I have run the Dunlop D404 WWW for the last 120,000 miles on Sylvester. I get better than 10,000 miles on the front and back. I like the grip and they are a decent tire.
  8. I put in 2 inches on the throttle cables and went ahead and put in SS cables for brake and clutch but with no additional length. Some say they can re-route the throttle cables to fit. I did not find this to be true.
  9. Bodda Bing, Bodda Boom...I think you got it Goose.
  10. I have a hand mic that plugs into the lead for the headset. I use my main speakers and reply on the hand mic.
  11. I have added Tom to my prayer list with Eileen and Ponch among others.
  12. 150,000 + miles and have never had to relpace the monoshock. Ride it hard and rarely with my wife. I am 240 # and she may go 170 # and I am not going to ask!
  13. Two years ago I finally got my digital hearing aids. They worked OK but when in a crowd the background noise made them useless. I haven't worn them since last November. After spending $3,000 my wife is not happy, but I am since I can hear most of the time and I am not blasted when in a crowd.
  14. What are the chances of him building another and selling it? I could keep one busy with all my friends with RSV and RSTD bikes.
  15. Get a mechanic's stethascope with a long probe and start checking out while riding or sitting still. It will isolate the location for you.
  16. Prayers are added to my list for the whole Nelson family. I am a cancer survivor three times now and I know what a tole it tades on close family members.
  17. I may take you up on that, Tom. I would like to know what it sounds like. Let me know and we can hook up.
  18. Yammer Dans shop is not quite up and running yet. Best to go to Bubba's shop down the road a fer bit.
  19. Thanks, Squidley. I still keep up the prayers.
  20. Yep, now they know where Squidley is. Try finding me on that Google thing a ma jig. It will only show you Bessemer City. And I don't live where they show me.
  21. Revinger, I believe Gunkylump gave you the answer to your problem...if it goes that far. He is right on for the cure if the slave cylinder is bad. You may luck out with a minor leak and I hope that is what it is.
  22. Yes it is the little things that Don does. But now the insurgents know where to send the SKUD missile.
  23. The covers are separate. Just take the left rear one off. Very easy! It will give you a lot more area to look at and will only take 2 minutes off and on.
  24. I guess I am of the minority since I have had my 02 RSMV for ten + years and many miles but have never heard the whine. I did have a clicking in the differential and it was replaced in the first 1000 miles. I ride with seven other Royal Star guys at different times and none of them have the whine or chirp. Is the whine in more than 50% of the machines, or is the whine from the owners of bikes with the problem louder than the praise from owners without the problem. I am not trying to start a verbal argument. I just feel that there may be more satisfied owners of the beasts than those with a problem. I grant all who have the problem the right to complain. I also feel Yamaha has/had obligations to their purchasers. I for one have had a love affair with my bike. Never a problem on the road. I am confident that this bike will carry me through to the end. I have 150+k miles and I still have the same monoshock. Next summer I am planning a ride to Alaska and then down the west coast and back home. I do not anticipate or worry about any problems. One happy Venture owner!
  25. I am also proud of your two sons. Thank them for me!
