  1. Like any mechanical device things happen that are not part of the original engineering module. Every car, truck and motorcycle after production experiences mechanical and electrical issues. This is what we have and we deal with it!
  2. JUST LISTEN to V7Goose, he has said what I would have said and it is the gospel truth. YOU need at the least new springs and at the most a new clutch. Just go out and get it. We at VT.org have been riding and working ont these machines for years. PEASE as my brother in riding, Goose would say.
  3. Very wrong. Much more advance on acceleration and higher RPMs. One who knows!
  4. I am sorry for your change in health, but it is inevitable. For the last five years I have had a number of issues and expect the same in the future. Things like arthritis cause me more problems than internal issues since there is no cure for it. I thank God for the days I feel great. And when I feel bad, I still thank God that I am not under four feet of earth. I wish you the best in the future.
  5. What Goose said is the right way to go, IMHO. I have a friend that could not afford the upgrade so we installed a new stock spring over the existing weaker spring (the plates and discs were fine) and that took care of the problem. Gives a stronger tension on the clutch.
  6. I have removed the right side oil seal, bearing and collar. I removed the drive pin assembly and oil seal on the left side. The bearing on the left side appears to be removed toward the right, is this correct and what do you use to drive it out. I have a Tusk bearing puller but this bearing cannot be remove toward the left due to burrs inside the wheel. The only way it could have been installed is through the right side.
  7. Beef brisket smoked for 24 hours, corn on the cob, baked beans with mollasses and brown sugar and garlic bread.
  8. I am only 330 miles away. I think we could get a few other fellows to help. Keep us posted.
  9. I love my heal shifter and have for the last thirteen years that I have had one. I never want a toe shifter again.
  10. When you say "back from a ride and the smell of gas in the garage", does that mean when you open the garage or when you park the bike in the garage? If the smell is in the garage before you put the bike in, then there is either a leak in the fuel system and it is absorbing into the flooring or a fuel storage problem. If it is after the bike is in the garage, you may have a float that is sticking. Try shutting the fuel off and running the bike dry. You show a BMW on you profile, are you asking about it or do you have a RSTD or RSV?
  11. Me too and my wife and the five dogs and the three goats, not to mention the other critters. I go out in the morning and they all gather around, and that is when we have a prayer. I know that this will reach God.
  12. By the way, I have the No Mar also. I have the floor mount but I can remove the bolts and put the changer elsewhere. Mine is three years old but I love it. And the bead breaker is a bit of a problem with some times. I removed the bolt and use a safety pin from Tractor Supply so I can change the settings quickly.
  13. A lot of insurance premiums are dictated by states in the US. I know that North Carolina is high and Florida is low. There are many in between. I have GEICO and they were the cheapest three years ago and have not gone up since that I know of. I will get another bill for the bike soon. I have the cars with them also and that did not go up this year.
  14. I run 55W also but only in the summer. Then I switch to the 35W for the winter since I run some heated accessories. I need to look into the LED PAR 36 lights!
  15. You can use a center stand and remove the front wheel (lower the front) to get to the rear tire change. I think that the adapter and motorcycle jack is a better way to go. And you can use it for cleaning the bike by lifting it high and sit on your roll around shop chair. I have used the Carbon One many times and it works great. I have the legs but since I ride mostly year round, I have never needed to leave the bike elevated for extended periods of time.
  16. Best shop tool I have used and I use it alot. I bought mine from Carbon One and it is great.
  17. I have room in my 12X12 shed for you. No electricity, no heat and no AC. But I will let you stay for free.
  18. Patrick, try the dyna beads and forget the balancing tool. That is all I use in my tires and anyone that wants me to mount tires for them. Never had a complaint.

    Ooops

Not a big deal. Some of us make a habit of dragging the foor board. Then we need to replace them unless we put skid plates on them.
  20. The alternator keeps the battery charged fine. And if he road it often it would be fine. But he has five motorcycles and likes to alternate. It is after it sits for a week without the tender that it goes to low to start. It may be a matter of him living with the situation as is.
  21. We charge the baterry on a battery charger. The tender is there to keep a full charge.
  22. To all concerned, There is only one lead to the positive side of the battery and it is stock original. I get the .0667A from the terminal to the lead and with a solid spark. Checking all fuses I get 0.000A except at the backup fuse and there it is .0667A. The battery is fully charge with a battery tender. The other batteries went dead after a week when not on the charger. After a couple of these discharges those batteries were beyond charging. The battery in it now came out of my RSMV and is a good battery and holds a charge well. I will continue my search and let you know what finally was the problem.
  23. That is right but you have to consider yield in concrete. I have (as a bridge superintendent) placed over 2,000,000 cubic yards of concrete and it is never perfect. My suggestion is to grade the slab area to 3.5 inches. There will be some settlement and it should yield 9 cy. And if there is some left over...use it for pads and steps. Just have some other things formed up and ready for concrete in case there is extra. Keep me posted about a time you want to do this and I will try to make it. I have the tools for the finish and the forming. I would love to help out Yammer Dan from this mess.
  24. Yammer Dan, is the slab going to be inside the foundation block or over the top course of block? Makes a difference in the manpower needed. I placed my garage floor (28'X26') with me and two experienced helpers.
  25. Thanks to all. Gives me a lot to think about. Dingy seems to know about this since his pix are so reflective. Midicat has the product list and SilvrT said what I thought. I don't wash my bike that often so I want a finish that will survive. I would rather be riding.
