BFGoodrich Radial T/A 155/80R15.... Avon on front...... About 1000 miles so far on the car tire... Had one on my VTX1300S, couldn't wait to put one on the RSTD.... Rides like a champ....

Where do you live?

Ledbetter Texas..... In the middle of everywhere!! -
I do have a question about tires though.... I have the BFGoodrich 155/80R15.... I noticed now to go 70 my speedometer registers 80. I checked this with a gps.. Am I imagining this or is this correct?? Would the 165/80R15 be closer to the diameter of the stock M/C tire?? Not complaining, just want to make sure is all.... Of course, I could have maybe researched a little more ahead of time... Robert C.

Well, as I expected.... Going Dark Side was a good idea..... The ride in yesterday was great. In fact, the little 'wobble' I used to get when changing lanes is no longer there.... Cornering and curves are very easy to take... I rode Dark Side for about 5,000 miles on my VTX1300 before I got the RSTD so I was quite familiar with riding on a car tire.. The stock Road King mufflers are a lot quieter than the Wild Pigs that were on the bike when I bought it... They still have a low rumble, just not loud, which I kind of like.... I boxed up the Wild Pigs for now, just in case I ever get a notion to go back to making noise again.. Robert C.

I ran Dark Side on my VTX1300 and really liked it. Found a BFGoodrich Radial T/A 155/80R15. Mounted it. While working on that I also found a set of Road King mufflers. Just finsihed putting them on tonight.. Looks and sounds great.... Road test tomorrow....

Thanks everyone for all the useful info... I bit the bullet and had the wife drop a check inthe mail to Carbon_One.... Should hopefully have it by the end of next week/begining of wee after that.... My jack has the shorter feet so I have asked him to do the add-on to make it fit.... I look forward to trying it out...

I do have a jack.. Bought it when I had the VTX1300..... Was definitely a life-saver... Looks like I'm going to be able to order the adapter sonner rather than later, now to see which version of the adapter I will be allowed to get..
-
I'll have to call around.... I have the tire.... They were quoting 1.5 to 2 hrs, but I would have had to leave the bike one day and pick it up another.... I am sure there are better places around.... I will definitley be getting the adapter some time in Nov. so I have it for my next change....
-
I definitley plan on purchasing one of the adapters, I am in a position now that I have to wait a month or so. Unfortunately, the tire change can't wait.... One shop I called said I could drop the bike off on Saturday and leave it for a couple of days, and they would charge me 'only' 140.00 plus tax the change the tire.....

I spoke with Geoff Rich over at Antler Creek Leather. He has a second generation Venture, says he uses 4 - 2X2's notched a little for the frame, and straps the bike down. I may give that a go..... Have to wait on purchasing the adapter right now, so says the financial advisor.. Thanks for everyone's input....

Thanks for the heads up.... I definitely wasn't going to try it without asking first....

I have decided to give it a go changing out my rear tire. I have the new tire and a jack, but no adapter. is there a way to jack up the bike without an adapter? Not trying to sound too stupid here, just wanted to make sure I don't get myself in a bind.... Thanks, Robert C.

I have the Northern Tool trailer with a cartop carrier. It does not have the swivel tongue and it pulls just fine... Took it out on a weekend ride last weekend and had no problems maneuvering twists and turns. I checked it when the bike is parked and ther is no tension on any of the parts.... Robert C.

I figured out where to place the Hoopy. Think it's in a safe place. Here are a few shots of the project.. I'll have to pull the seat to get a couple of shots of the final hookup...
