  1. BFGoodrich Radial T/A 155/80R15.... Avon on front...... About 1000 miles so far on the car tire... Had one on my VTX1300S, couldn't wait to put one on the RSTD.... Rides like a champ....
  2. Ledbetter Texas..... In the middle of everywhere!!
  3. I do have a question about tires though.... I have the BFGoodrich 155/80R15.... I noticed now to go 70 my speedometer registers 80. I checked this with a gps.. Am I imagining this or is this correct?? Would the 165/80R15 be closer to the diameter of the stock M/C tire?? Not complaining, just want to make sure is all.... Of course, I could have maybe researched a little more ahead of time... Robert C.
  4. Well, as I expected.... Going Dark Side was a good idea..... The ride in yesterday was great. In fact, the little 'wobble' I used to get when changing lanes is no longer there.... Cornering and curves are very easy to take... I rode Dark Side for about 5,000 miles on my VTX1300 before I got the RSTD so I was quite familiar with riding on a car tire.. The stock Road King mufflers are a lot quieter than the Wild Pigs that were on the bike when I bought it... They still have a low rumble, just not loud, which I kind of like.... I boxed up the Wild Pigs for now, just in case I ever get a notion to go back to making noise again.. Robert C.
  5. I ran Dark Side on my VTX1300 and really liked it. Found a BFGoodrich Radial T/A 155/80R15. Mounted it. While working on that I also found a set of Road King mufflers. Just finsihed putting them on tonight.. Looks and sounds great.... Road test tomorrow....
  6. Ordered the adapter from Carbon_One and got it in Wednesday. Followed the instructions for getting the rod to fit.... Tried it out today. Man!! Works like a champ.... Wanted to thank Larry for a great product .... Now the work begins!! Robert C.
  7. Thanks everyone for all the useful info... I bit the bullet and had the wife drop a check inthe mail to Carbon_One.... Should hopefully have it by the end of next week/begining of wee after that.... My jack has the shorter feet so I have asked him to do the add-on to make it fit.... I look forward to trying it out...
  8. I do have a jack.. Bought it when I had the VTX1300..... Was definitely a life-saver... Looks like I'm going to be able to order the adapter sonner rather than later, now to see which version of the adapter I will be allowed to get..
  9. I'll have to call around.... I have the tire.... They were quoting 1.5 to 2 hrs, but I would have had to leave the bike one day and pick it up another.... I am sure there are better places around.... I will definitley be getting the adapter some time in Nov. so I have it for my next change....
  10. I definitley plan on purchasing one of the adapters, I am in a position now that I have to wait a month or so. Unfortunately, the tire change can't wait.... One shop I called said I could drop the bike off on Saturday and leave it for a couple of days, and they would charge me 'only' 140.00 plus tax the change the tire.....
  11. I spoke with Geoff Rich over at Antler Creek Leather. He has a second generation Venture, says he uses 4 - 2X2's notched a little for the frame, and straps the bike down. I may give that a go..... Have to wait on purchasing the adapter right now, so says the financial advisor.. Thanks for everyone's input....
  12. Thanks for the heads up.... I definitely wasn't going to try it without asking first....
  13. I have decided to give it a go changing out my rear tire. I have the new tire and a jack, but no adapter. is there a way to jack up the bike without an adapter? Not trying to sound too stupid here, just wanted to make sure I don't get myself in a bind.... Thanks, Robert C.
  14. I have the Northern Tool trailer with a cartop carrier. It does not have the swivel tongue and it pulls just fine... Took it out on a weekend ride last weekend and had no problems maneuvering twists and turns. I checked it when the bike is parked and ther is no tension on any of the parts.... Robert C.
  15. I figured out where to place the Hoopy. Think it's in a safe place. Here are a few shots of the project.. I'll have to pull the seat to get a couple of shots of the final hookup...
  16. I know there was a picture of a Hoppy mounted on an RSTD.... Apparently I am search challenged..... I am hoping someone has a picture, or an idea of where it can be mounted. Thanks in advance.. Robert C.
  17. I realize this is an old thread but wanted to comment. Doing exactly V7Goose described above worked perfectly... I am using the tie-in to power a relay..... There is a 5 Amp fuse for it in the fuse block inside the left lower..... I know because I popped it trying to get a reading.. Let's just say, make sure your multimeter is on the correct setting before testing... There should be a brown and a black wire goint to the plug... Brown is power and Black is ground..... A little hard to see, but with a flashlight and a magnifying glass I was able to see this.. Yes, my eyes are aging a bit ... I will be using the relay to power a fuse block. AS soon as I get it all set up I'll post a few pics... Robert C.
  18. Best way is to email him: venturedad@earthlink.net
  19. Got my Venturedad trailer hitch in the mail today.... Took all of 5 minutes to put it on. Now I need to finish the wiring so I can take the trailer on a test run... Thanks for the quick turn-around Venturedad... Robert C.
  20. I am trying to figure out the wire size for the rear lights.... I think they are 16 gauge..... Just want to make sure I get the correct fittings for tying in the Hoppy isolator Thanks, Robert C.
  21. LOL.... I agree with RedRider52.... If I could see a pic or two of your setup please... I can build stuff but I need some sort of visual reference...
  22. Having a problem finding a bike stand that will work... Looks like Walmart changed their supplier so the one I saw being used is no longer available.... I could make my own but I am not very good in that area.... has anyone found a comparable stand for those trrailers?? Thanks, Robert C.
  23. Thanks KiethR.... I feel a bit more confident now about hooking the lights up.... Question though.. Wiring the isolator directly into the battery will not draw it down?/ If my thinking is correct.. the unit acts like a switch and will only draw current when the bike is turned on?? Robert C.
