Best of 2 worlds??
footsie replied to MidlifeVenture's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I am working on a mod to our stock mufflers that will do this, but was thinking of making a trap that you rotate from the rear of the muffler. Would not be able to do it running down the road. Gregg -
Drilling Stock Mufflers
footsie replied to Whitlow's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Great, I thought you would like it, I have really enjoyed mine, I have never been one that liked loud bikes, but I do like some sound. You do not get this sound drilling holes in them. This way you can not tell by looking, that you did anything to the mufflers. Gregg -
Rode 100 miles last night, went to Albany to eat wings at hooters. Gregg

The Venture is a bike you must learn, I do not believe anyone could ride a RSV a couple hundred miles and learn it true atrabutes. For me the Venture is comfortable and handles very well. I have a white 2004 RSV, short wide windshield, barron's handlebar blocks, drivers backrest. Avon cobra radial on frount, kumho radial on rear. I run 0 air pressure in the shocks. I am 6'1" and 240lbs. The points I like about the Venture. 1. Comfort, I am very comfortable in mine, seating position is perfect. 2. Handling I love the way the RSV handles, took the right tires to achieve this. 3. I average 39 to 41 MPH, will do better at lower speeds. 4. I perfer a 4 cylinder engine, love the sound. 5. It is a bike that I love to ride, just to be ridding, with nowhere to go. I ride mine everyday. This is my thrid RSV, I intend to put well over 150,000 miles on this, and as far as I am concerned, the only tweeking Yamaha needs to do to the Venture, is fuel injection and xm radio built in and leave the rest of it alone. Look carefully at the pictures, I do not see the backrest flap on that seat, and not all Corbin's have the backrest mount built into the seat. Gregg

I figured out how to cut mine the get the sound I wanted, but first I was given a set of RSTD with tips which I like the looks with the tips turned up. But I wanted to fix it where you can't see any mods, so I used a dremel went up in the end of the muffler and cut the output tube. The gives a low rumble at idle, and good glass pack sound under accelleration. But does not bother me on long road trips. Gregg

Valid point, could depend on the dealer, some will try anything to avoid warrenty work, while other say it keeps them in business. Jim Martin told me one time that in hard times warrenty work helped pay the machanics. Gregg
-
I really meant that as a joking question, I don't think they could void the warrenty because of gauge installation. Gregg
-
Did they void the warrenty due to the fact you removed the cassette. Gregg
-
They were talking about parts falling off squids harley, I thought he had hijacked your RSV. Gregg

On my 97 the brown wire broke at the clamp on the frame just before the plug at the rear. had a hard time finding it, the covering was intact. Gregg

Reading another post gives me an Idea. Just for FUN Make up a modification for your bike, and tell what it did for you' example, I made a new intake, and no get 397 miles to the gallon. Use Your imagination, and try to out do the pervious post. Gregg

Drilling Stock Mufflers

David Look at the third picture in the post above, toward the right side is the out end of the muffler, you see the tube going into the cone at the very end of the muffler, that is what you are to cut into with the dremel about 1 inch past the cone up in the muffler, once cut it will easily prize over to one side and open up the muffler. You just have to shove the tape in harder, use a bigger hammer to get past the gauges. Gregg

They should ride good then, I going to put a set on Karren's Road Star, she rarely puts over 10,000 miles on her bike yearly, so should get a couple of years out of them. Gregg

Absolutely correct, it take a highly skilled rider to think about braking control in an emergency, most just step down hard on the pedel, and its strange that all the data on ABS bike shows them with shorter stopping distance than their non ABS counter parts. I think the article you quoted proves that point. Gregg

Mike Has yall's patient census been low, ours has but is picking up some now. Had several nights was had none in the ICU. Have been called out at least one shift each pay period for the past several weeks. Gregg

No NO, if you put on a CT it stops the surging, and if you plug AIS it improves handling, and the seat blowing off was because the bike was revolting because it wants its own CT and then the AIS system stipped off. The evil ones are those who do not admit that the ones of us who run CTs, are of obviously higher intelligence, have superior motorcyclists operations skills, and are just right about everything. Fingers out of control, and that all the bull excrement I can make up at this time. stay tuned for more usless babal that has nothing to do with this thread, and I know, I can't spell. Gregg
