  1. I do sincerely apologize for the delay. I haven't posted anything about it but we have had some major family issues/illness over the past few weeks. Not me or my wife but a family member very close to us. I haven't even been online too much lately because I've been somewhat buried and somewhat just down in the dumps over it. When I actually have had time to do it, I just haven't had the drive to get into it. I promise to do so soon. I may as well also let folks know that we have had to cancel our trip to Cody. We've felt the need to help this person and it really drew our vacation funds down to pretty much nothing. I'm not complaining, we all do what we have to do and this was simply a case where family took priority. We will miss being there though. Don
  2. Man...I don't know what to say. I almost want to cry for you. I can only imagine how disappointing this is after you had it looking so fantastic.
  3. Some do and some don't. Diamond R and Baggershield offer us a members discount. The others contribute a little to the site through a pay per click and purchase setup. I don't think we have any tire vendors who are offering us member discounts. Actually, the exception is Pioneer Motorsports in Buffalo but I'm not sure how their tire prices are.
  4. I agree with Kent. There is no way you did any harm to the shock at 60 lbs. I've seen people put a lot more than that in there not realizing that the max was 57.
  5. You said it only held 4.8 gallons? If that is correct then you still had a lot more than .2 gallons left.
  6. Try this link. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3384 oops...sorry...I thought one of those was the owners manual but I was wrong.
  7. and at this time, I would like to refer to to post number SIX. I'm glad they found it but I understand your frustration also. At least you will be on the road soon again.
  8. You can turn the CB off but for me, just setting the squelch on 20 takes care of the problem. Might not work if you are in an area with a lot of CB users close by.
  9. I wish I could get everybody to use the Google search under search. If you click on search, at the very bottom is "GOOGLE SEARCH". Check the box that says venturerider.org and enter your search term. It works GREAT with 3 letters or whatever.
  10. It's always uplifting to see great things happen to great people. Eileen and I are very happy for both of you. Here's wishing you many years of continued happiness.
  11. No problem. I got rid of it for you. Sneaky little bugger wasn't it.
  12. Hey, if it's something that you want to tackle, feel free to do so. We'll see where it goes.
  13. I have come to the conclusion that grips are pretty much the same as seats in that what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for the next. I bought a set of KuryAkyn ISO grips because I think they look great. I bought them used from Rick Butler. He warned me that he was selling them because they made his hands tingle and fall asleep. So, I bought them and installed them on my '99. I even installed the stock weights. I had the same problem with them as Rick did though. I put them on right before going to Vogel a few years ago and I wasn't 100 miles from home when I started noticing my fingers tingling. My hands bothered me that entire trip. I took them off immediately upon returning home. What works for me is a set of foam covered grips that were offered by Yamaha for the Road Star. They were a little long for the RSV but easily cut down to work. I went back to them after removing the KuryAkyns and all has been good ever since. Unfortunately, I think that Yamaha discontinued the grips that I have. If they ever wear out, I'll be looking for some more that are similar.
  14. I think it would be great but probably a massive undertaking that would require many hours of programming. If anybody knows of a relatively easy way to do it, I'm listening but to be honest, those sites like WebMD pay professionals BIG money to develop their websites. What you end up seeing is usually the result of many hours of many different people who are well trained in custom programming. What you see HERE is...uh...ME. A self-taught hacker who relies on packaged software that I then do what I can to add a little customization to so that it offers most of the features that we need and/or want. I'm open to what is being suggested but it is most likely beyond my expertise.
  15. Well...since this thread has already been adequately highjacked, I'll add my own prank. Years ago when I worked as an electrician, we used to send new helpers to the tool room for a long stand. Of course the tool pusher was well aware of it and when the new helper would show up and say "I'm here for a long stand"...the tool pusher was just tell him "ok...just stand over there". It is amazing how long some of them would stand there waiting.
  16. It is actually because you get more light if you use the red LEDs behind a red lens. My company manufactures LED lit channel letters like you see on the front of retail stores. We offer them in several colors including red, yellow, green, blue, etc. We have done a LOT of tests in regards to which combination of LED and face colors result in the brightest letters. It all has to do with the lightwaves put out by the various colors and how those lightwaves are filtered by the color of the faces. It is a fact that you get brighter output when you match the LED color to the face color. So in short, what they are recommending is correct.
  17. Looks great. Which kit is that? Motortrike?
  18. I am NOT going there.
  19. Well, aside from the questionable name, did you look at the demo? It actually looks like an interesting product.
  20. I agree then that they are loose. If they bounce off the stops and then return to the stops. I set them so that they bounce off the stops and then come to a stop, not return to the stops.
  21. I'm not sure that you have a problem. The fact that they bounced off the stop two or three inches does not mean that they are loose. that is perfectly normal. If they hit the stops and don't bounce back at all, they are very likely too tight. The trick is to swing it gently and let it hit the stops. It should bounce off and then come to a smooth stop and NOT sway back and forth.
  22. OOPS.....thanks. I just corrected it.
  23. The suggestions are all good but don't rule out a bad battery. You say that it's not very old but there have been MANY cases of even new batteries that have a problem. The symptoms that you describe sound very much like a discharged battery. The radio cutting out was a good first signal as mine did the same thing when my last battery failed. I would have it load tested before doing anything else.
  24. It is absolutely true that you can slide the drive shaft back in and completely miss the u-joint. Been there and done that. It is NOT a pretty sound.
  25. I've owned two '99 models. Both had the center bolts missing and tie wraps substituted. Both have the end tabs broke off. Goose has a good repair for the broken end tabs in the tech library. I never tried to get mine warrantied. I feel that they would just break again if repaired under warranty. It's a weak area and this repair is better in my opinion. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=20293
