  1. While I agree with the premise of what Twigg said, I would be more inclined to think that you have a really bad battery. The say that the bike dies as soon as you remove the charger leads. A fully charged battery should keep it running for a good while even if the charging system is not functioning. It just sounds like he may have gotten a bad battery.
  2. Beautiful bike. I'm thinking that I may never buy another bike as my '99 will likely do me for the rest of my riding days but if I were to, The Ultra would be one of about 2 or 3 bikes that I would consider. The Victory Cross Country or Cross Tour...don't remember which, would be another one. Of course the Venture would be too depending upon what Yamaha ends up doing with it.
  3. Yes, Route 2 is an alternative to 80.
  4. Hey Tom, sounds like he needs a good woman to nurse him back to health. Can you think of anybody?
  5. Really sorry to hear the news. These things make us realize how precious life is and to make the most of each and every day. Our prayers will be with the family and friends.
  6. OK folks...at this time I show 112 attending and 22 maybes. That is really down from the last few years but that's OK. We will have a great time. A lot of folks seem to have graduations, weddings, etc. this year. Eileen is going to order the food on Thursday so please go to the calendar and update your status and/or register if you are coming. My biggest fear is always not having enough food and it's always somewhat of a guessing game. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=290&day=2012-6-2&c=1
  7. Ohio requires the standard large plates also.
  8. Great area and I'm sure will be a great time. Sure wish I could be there.
  9. LOL...obviously somebody doesn't know what they have.
  10. Click on search in the menu bar. At the bottom of the drop down menu there is a "google" search option. Enter the words you want to search for ... example.... pulls to the left. Check the venturerider option and then search. It works very well.
  11. I just saw on the news where Avery has passed away. Much sooner than they expected. Really sad. http://www.foxnews.com/health/2012/05/01/bucket-list-baby-avery-loses-battle-with-rare-disorder/?test=latestnews
  12. OK folks, it's only a few weeks until my annual Maintenance Day. Only 85 people have signed up on the calendar at this point. Eileen is on me now to try and get a better count so that she can start ordering food and etc. So if you haven't RSVP yet then PLEASE do so. There are 36 "maybes"...please go to the calendar and update your status as soon as you know. Thanks. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=290&day=2012-6-2&c=1
  13. Take a look at this thread. You aren't actually splitting the fairing but removing the windshield is part of that process. You don't need to remove the light bar or actually split the fairing though. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=494
  14. I THINK that was good.....but I really can't remember.
  15. Yep...you are right...beauty is in the eyes of the beerholder. I love pretty girls AND country music so bring them to Maintenance Day.
  16. Where are you trying to upload it to? Here? If so, yes, that is WAY to big.
  17. WHAT....a lasting......uh....do they make that seat for the RSV?
  18. That was nice. I know it must make you feel great to be able to do it.
  19. Brian, That is exactly the opposite of my experience. When I lived in Texas, my bike was always much harder to shift when using Yamaha oil. The first time I tried it, I couldn't wait to get back to Mobile 1. It's funny how we can all have different outcomes to the same attempts but it happens a lot when we start talking about oil. I found that my '88 Venture and my '99 both shifted much better with the synthetic.
  20. I really feel for you and Rhonda. So sorry to hear about all you are going through. It's always hard to understand why bad things happen to good people and you are good people. Hope things turn around for you soon.
  21. I've had mine done for several years now and have never regretted it. I also have the Dyno ignition module so the rev limiter hasn't been a problem either.
  22. It is possible. I'm not optimistic but splitting the fairing and checking the round connectors is the first thing I would try. Just unplug them and plug them back in a few times. Also a good time to add a bit of dielectric grease and maybe secure them with some nylon ties.
  23. Yes, we ate at Louie Mueller's and also one in Elgin. Something Market or nother. It was very good also. I had been to Louie Mueller's before and it is great but I think the one in Elgin was actually even better. Just looked it up. The one in Elgin is Southside Market. Very good.
  24. Just got in from a LONG week in Taylor, TX, near Austin. Wish there had been time to visit some of our Texas members while there but this was a semi annual sales meeting and they have us busy from daylight until well after dark. I have tried to keep up with any requests here but if I have missed something, please let me know.
  25. No, I only update it about once a year because it is a real pain in the butt. You are correct though, it is probably time to update it again. I'll try to get it done over the next couple of weeks.
