  1. Ok folks, I got a response from Japan this evening. The company does not currently offer the diaphragm by itself. The SD1 and SD2 sets are not exactly the right size according to the manufacturer. However, based upon my request they are going to look into adding them to the line-up. I offered to purchase 100 sets of course based upon end pricing. I figure we can easily use those up if the quality is good. Now, I need a bit of research help from owners of other Yamahas. 1) Do all 1983-1993 Ventures use the same diaphragm? (I think yes except maybe the 1983) 2) What years of V-Max will these fit? I suspect 1985- almost current) 3) Is the base diaphragm the same on the 2nd Generation? 4) I see the eBay guy lists the 535 as also using these - what else may use them? For our folks in Canada and Europe - what useage would you have? If I can keep the price down to $100.00 U.S. delivered to the 48 states would it fly? I will need some numbers from y'all to make this happen. No promises here JB
  2. Looking at some new needle sets and was surprised at the price difference between genuine parts (like $42) versus aftermarket($17). Any thoughts on the use of one vs the other in engine parts like needle sets?
  3. Are the factory head sets worth cleaning and repairing. Or are there a cheap aftermarket wireless sets .
  4. I have the left front lower off, checking the fuses ( there good) what's the black box above the fuses? with two sets of wiring coming out?
  5. Just wanted to let you all know that I will have 4 sets of Mic-Mutes available at Maintenance Day. Bill won't be able to make it this year but has mailed me 4 sets for the RSV if any of you need one. The price is $139.95 so you can be prepared. It is a great product.
  6. Who would be a source for an apparently Odd bolt thread tap. I'm looking for a M12 x 1.25 thread pitch and evidently it is not popular enough to be included in any of the tap and die sets I have been able to find so far. I have already checked Sears, Harbor Frieght, Northern Tool and NAPA.... No luck
  7. Hubby and I use the Shark bluetooth sets. I have a couple of questions. Where can I find a new helmet clip to attach the transmitter to the helmet? Mine broke at Vogel somehow. Where can I find new speakers and mic that have better sound quality than the ones that came in the kit? The stock set is really tinny and talking to each other is garbled.
  8. Ok,for anybody within reach of North Central Pennsylvania,I stopped at on of my favorite haunts for motorcycle stuff,Larry's Cycles,a long time Yamaha and Harley Dealer. Here is an inventory as best that I can remember from this afternoon. For !st gen owners: rectangular driving light set[main parts room],chrome fairing trim,2 sets of chrome seat mounts[not sure which seat].These will be found in a cardboard box in the middle of the floor in the western most used bike room.Just root around.{also some NOS V-Max trim}.In the main Yamaha acessory room,4 sets carb covers+1set for"96-'98,2 chrome center covers to match battery side covers,1 set rotor covers,1 set rear wheel chrome covers,2 sets master cyl covers, driving light mount bars, old style saddle bag lid protectors[i think there was 1 set for 1st gen also] and I'm already starting to forget, but I'm sure everyone gets the idea. And there was 2 Royalstar riding jackets in sizes XL and M.I am not a shill for Larry's,just want to help anybody looking for hard to find items. They are located on Pa route 6,west of Galeton about 4 or 5 miles.Good luck and happy hunting,Herb.
  9. Looking for advice on helmets and headsets. We are looking at HJC BT modulars with the dual visors. Headsets are J&M BCD279-UN-HO sets for the HJC. I was able to find everything, including the lower cords for 615.00. is thiat a good deal?? Is there a better option for this price?? thanks to all that answer. This price is for 2 sets.
  10. 2005 ford escape 4 wheel drive I want to take the calipers off the front...2 bolts ....should be pretty straight forward BUT..... 3/4" is sloppy, 11/16 to tight 19 mm is sloppy, 17 mm to tight I have 2 sets of metric and 2 sets of standard tools and neither have anything in between. Am I missing something?
  11. Just saw this commercial. 6 rolls $22 (included packaging and handling for 2 sets of 3 rolls). What do you think? https://www.mightyfixit.com/flare/next
  12. We just had 2 of the motorcycle shops merge here in San Antonio. It was time to replace the brakes on the ol Black Cherry so I went to Yamaha of SA. On my other bike I bought the brakes from E-Bay for $45 (give or take) for all 3 sets, and they work great. This time I didn't want to wait so I went local. The parts guy (new from the closed store) looked them up and said "they list rear brake pads and a front brake "kit". When he brought them up it was only 3 sets of pads of course. he told me "it's $39.89 for the rear pads and $137.89 for the fronts!. I am pretty sure he was looking at it wrong, I didn't mind paying the 40 bucks for the front, but I am almost sure that the fronts must have flakes of gold enbedded in them. That would be almost $70 a set! I asked him to look again and he said "You're welcome to drive to Austin if you don't like it."Needless to say I ordered them from E-Bay again and will have to wait 3 days.
  13. So, I went to the local dealer and they had a couple of intercom sets. I checked and they are about $350 elsewhere and about another $100 for an extra headset. I picked up both complete sets and was just going to take a headset out of one to complete the set (passenger and rider) and install it on my bike. Well it is not going to work for me cuz my wife only wears a half helmet. I got them at 200 a piece, so that is what I will sell them for to anyone that might want it from here. I will be posting it on EBay next week if not. Let me know. They are both new in the box. Search autocom kit 300 on Google and you can see the specs. Thanks Adam
  14. Redoing the front forks on my 83' venture and need to order parts. http://www.mrcycles.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=198921&category=motorcycles&make=YAMAHA&year=1983&fveh=4522 Some is easy but just want input, what do I need to order and do I need to order 1 cause they come in sets or do I need to order 2 cause they are sold individually.

  18. Here we go.... Time again to put the 1st gen driving light brackets on sale...just in time for Christmas So here it is $25 shipping included anywhere in the USA, $27.50 in Canada (Sorry Guys) until December 24th at Midnight. I have probably about 10 sets left to sell and then they are all gone. I will keep 4 sets to donate to future international rallys. So dont delay and get them while I still have them, cause once they are gone....there gone! http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=1371
  19. Well I need some information. A friend has a RSV and four sets of pipes. A set of Wild Pigs which is on the load side, a set of stock pipes that are on the quite side. Two set of what we believe are Harley pipes that are shaped similar to the stock RSV pipes. One set has HAR FLT 1584 and the other set has HAR FLT 1584/1688 stamped on them. We want to hear how they sound but are concerned with how they are made. Both sets look identical. On both sets looking down the right hand pipes from the rear you can see a piece of metal that tapers off to one side down near the center or the pipe. No problem looks like the exhaust can exit unrestricted. The left had pipes you can not see through. At about the same position as the right pipes it looks like four courners have been folded in to close off the pipe. Between this "plug" and the exhaust end of the pipe is some holes for the exhaust gases to exit the pipe. I do not know why they are different but my concern is that the left side back pressure will be different from the right side back pressure and whether or not that if the two sides back pressures are different will that hurt the bike or it's performance.:think:
  20. I found 3 tool sets on ebay. They are craftsman motorcycle tool sets. The numbers are as follows: 350183941140 350183944598 350183941936 I have one that is in a pouch and I really like it. I roll it up and put it in my saddle bags.
  21. Mk2 Right front caliper?? This is surplus to need from all the calipers I accumulated over the last 2 years. Along with all the others, it has been disassembled and cleaned, honed, and pistons polished. I did NOT install new seals on this one but did pick out the best from all the used seals I had. It's yours for the asking as I now have 3 complete sets all rebuilt. *@#&% seal sets are EXPENSIVE!! Help clear out my garage...
  22. Got a hold of a chroming company called South Bay Chrome http://southbaychrome.com/ and received a quote Here's our pricing for the passenger floor boards: 1 set at a time: $40.00 ea piece x 2 = $80 10 -20 sets: $30 each x2 21-100 sets: $25.00 each x2 This obviously don't include shipping which would be needed both ways. I'm going to send in my set to see how they turn out and will get back with everyone. If they are indeed a quality finish, I will make arrangements with company on how to set everything up to do a quantity order. Hope this makes sense. All I know is if I can get a set of chromed floorboards for those anemic aluminum ones at 1/3rd to 1/5th the price, I'm in. God Bless. Mike
  23. Are any Midnight seat sets made without the chrome studs?
  24. To all my G2 comrads, After much thought I have decided that I am not going to be making the Muffler brackets for the H/D mufflers to the G2. I haven't been real happy with how the last few sets have turned out and I dont have the proper equipment to make them how I want to see them. This being said I will not be taking any orders for them...but there is good news here. I have talked with Hilliss here on our site, he will be taking over making them as the need arises so if you want to get a set, he would be the man to get ahold of. I have a set of his brackets that he sent to me to look at, and I'll tell you that you wont be disappointed with them. His quality is top notch and I like his workmanship. I'm sorry if this comes as a bit of a shock, but you'll still be able to get your H/D mufflers on your G2....it just wont be with brackets made by me. Thank you to all of the members that purchased sets from me....we'll see you on the road
  25. I have been getting requests for the 2nd Gen Bra set "Scooter Hooters" , for both upper and lowers fairings . I have been reluctant in taking orders as my time is limited . I still have a couple of pair of chaps and other items to make for other VR members , but I have decided to start making these "Scooter Hooters" available to the first 25 VR.Org members only at this time . So here is the deal . I can allot myself time to produce at least 2 complete sets of 2nd Gen Bra "Scooter Hooters" a week until I get caught up on my day job duties . I will make 25 sets available at a reduced price of $120.00 (US funds) per set (plus postage), on which I will take $20.00 of this money and donate in behalf with your name to a VR Fund . If all 25 sets are sold , that will generate $500.00 towards the VR Fund . If you wish to order , please make a post noting that you wish to order/reserve a set . I will not be asking for any money until your set of "Scooter Hooters" are ready to ship out . You will be notified by PM when they are ready to ship and also to obtain shipping address . I will set up a Pay Pal account and direct you to that account to send funds plus shipping . That person notified that their "Scooter Hooters" are ready , has (1) one week to to respond . If you do not respond , then that set will go to the next person in line on the list and your request will either be dropped to the bottom of the list or voided . In the case of a return/refund , only the sum of $100.00 will be refunded . The $20.00 for donation and shipping charges will be forfeited . VR.Org will not be held responsible in any way if there is a dispute or incident . That issue will be dealt with myself only . Once all 25 sets are sold , I will be sending the funds to Black Owl for deposit into the VR Fund account . These "Scooter Hooters" will be made of clothe backed Vynl , Black in color only . If you desire another color , Vynl spray paint can be obtained at your local automotive supply store . It takes myself less than a minute to place on or take off the uppers . About 2 minutes to place on the lowers and you will have to get down on your knees or back to fasten to scoot's fairing bottom . They will not interfere with lower vents , nor foot-pegs that I am aware of. They will not interfere with grill guards either . You will need to remove occasionally to clean/remove any grit that may be air born and get caught in between the bras and fairings . Here are some photo's of my set for viewing . Perhaps we can get SleeperHawk's Mechanic to post photo's of their's "scooter Hooters" for viewing as well. If you have any questions , please ask . BEER30 1) 1-UP (Paid-Shipped) 2) Christo (Paid -Shipped) 3) Blueslover (Paid -Shipped) 4) 1rooster (Paid -Shipped) 5) kozman01(Paid -Shipped) 6) Monsta 7) lateralvibe (Cancelled) 8) Midnight Rider 9) wizard503us
