One lil tweak..one BIG mistake.
Freebird replied to KIC's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Great opportunity to check the valve adjustment. -
I know that's a tough situation. Knowing what is coming doesn't seem to make it any easier. Please know, and let them know also, that they are in our prayers.

Sorry Lewis. I thought it was funny and I even agreed with it but blatantly political. If I only deleted political posts that I didn't agree with, we would have all kinds of problems here.

No. I approached them years ago about a discount and they told me that their margins are so slim that they just couldn't offer discounts. They gave a link back to our site is all.

Well all I can do is relate my own experiences. This may not be the case for everybody but it is cold hard fact for me. When I had my '88 Venture Royale, I first used YamaLube. I was living in Texas at the time and it was during a summer of many 100F PLUS days. I found that when riding on those very hot days that the shifting got very clunky and it was often hard to find neutral. This would happen after as few as 500 to 1000 miles on a fresh oil change. I tried a couple of different oils before finally just going with Mobil 1 and it made a tremendous difference. I experienced much smoother shifting. I found that this improvement lasted through the full life of the oil. When I bought my '99 RSV in April of 1999, the deal included the dealer performing the first service. That included oil change, carb sync, etc. I was getting ready to leave on an extended ride so it was done a bit early at around 800 miles. They used YamaLube for that oil change. It was again a hot Texas summer when I left on that trip and again at no more than 1,000 miles I started experiencing the clunky shifting and etc. I would not wait to get that oil out of my bike. At about 2,000 miles and still on that trip I changed it to Mobil 1 and have never looked back. I am sold on it. I absolutely believe that a good synthetic oil does not break down nearly as quickly as Dino oil. I think this is especially true in higher temperatures.

Lost my Son
Freebird replied to naturbar's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
I can't even imagine what you are going through. I know that losing my sister a few years ago was the hardest thing I ever went through and I don't think it would even compare to losing a child. My heart is truly broken for you and I promise that you and your family will be in our prayers.- 112 replies

Sorry folks. I had the PMs from those of you who were not on the list. When I copied and pasted them from my saved folder for the raffle, I sort of forgot to get the ones from the second page. I just updated the list so NOW if you don't find your name on it, please send me another PM.

I've said it many times but will repeat it again. I am a loyal fan of Mobil 1. I use it in everything I own. For my RSV, it is Mobil 1 Racing 4T and I'll not use anything else. Whether or not to use synthetic is a personal choice but very little research will uncover plenty of evidence as to the benefits. A good dino oil will do just fine and you will get many thousands of trouble free miles with regular oil and filter changes just as you will with Synthetic. For me though, the benefits of synthetic are worth the bit of extra cost. I won't get into all the technical reasons here because they can be found all over the Internet. Tomorrow I will pick up 9 quarts of 0W-40W for my wife's Chrysler Crossfire,, 5 quarts of 5W-20 for the 2011 Kia Sorrento and 4 quarts of Racing 4T for my RSV. All Mobil 1 thank you.

OK folks, here is a list of names of those of you who are entered in the trailer raffle. I will update this as any more donations come in between now and Friday night. Now this is cut and pasted directly from my list of PMs and emails that I have received from you. It shows that you are entered but not how many chances you have. You will each get the number of chances that you are eligible for based upon your donations. If you have donated $10.00 or more and don't see your name listed here, please send me a PM to let me know. 03-14-2012 Dano donation 01:54 AM wkboard Messages: 1 Saturday 03-11-2012 Trailer Raffle 07:23 PM Squeeze Messages: 6 Thursday 03-09-2012 raffle 08:37 PM gidzhome 03-09-2012 I'm in for Dan.... 06:02 PM Snaggletooth Thumbs up 03-09-2012 For Dano.......... 05:20 PM DragonRider 03-09-2012 Trailer Raffle 03:02 PM cmiles3 03-09-2012 Dano 01:15 PM BuckShot 03-09-2012 Danob11...get well soon!!! 07:55 AM Busta Messages: 2 Wednesday 03-08-2012 tix for donation 03:49 PM friesman1 03-08-2012 raffel 03:17 PM short-haul Messages: 7 Tuesday 03-07-2012 Dano 08:38 PM KICKSHOT 03-07-2012 raffle 05:43 PM Cousin Dave 03-07-2012 RE: Dano & trailer 11:58 AM autopilot 03-07-2012 tickets 08:24 AM Marcarl 03-07-2012 Trailer ticket 07:57 AM OrlinEngh 03-07-2012 Boyter 07:43 AM Freebird 03-06-2012 raffle ticket for Dano 11:24 PM Geejo Messages: 33 Last Week 03-06-2012 Donation 09:42 PM loosebiker 03-06-2012 dano 07:42 PM 93 venture 03-06-2012 Trailer raffle 07:09 PM eds 03-06-2012 Dan/raffle 04:46 PM KIC 03-06-2012 Ticket 04:45 PM Kirby 03-06-2012 Dano Fund Drive 04:18 PM Eck 03-06-2012 Gift to Dano 03:56 PM Semi-retired 03-06-2012 Donation for Dano 03:07 PM dittojp 03-06-2012 donation to dano 02:26 PM vicco27 03-06-2012 Trailer Raffle 01:22 PM Ray Rider 03-06-2012 Dano 01:11 PM yammer 03-06-2012 Trailer raffle 01:02 PM IdahoRon 03-06-2012 trailer raffle, fundraiser 12:45 PM VentureT 03-06-2012 donation 12:11 PM fabioz84 03-06-2012 Daniel Obert 11:13 AM brainfart 03-06-2012 Donation sent 10:54 AM tcoop 03-06-2012 Dano 09:57 AM rowdy7 03-06-2012 Raffle 09:49 AM cleland905 03-06-2012 Dano Raffle 09:16 AM rgaylord 03-06-2012 Bux for Dano 09:14 AM Rev'n Ahead 03-06-2012 trailer 09:06 AM Trader 03-06-2012 Donation 08:58 AM Aimhigh 03-06-2012 Good thing here 08:24 AM rmiddleton5474 03-06-2012 dano 08:02 AM Sideoftheroad 03-06-2012 thanks 07:49 AM Cinderella 03-06-2012 Trailer Raffle for Dano 07:10 AM pickinfred 03-06-2012 Trailer for dano 06:39 AM Riderduke 03-06-2012 Donation 01:38 AM evans7376 03-06-2012 Dan donation 12:51 AM Kirby 03-05-2012 Hi Mr. D! Sounds like you have been through quiet an ordeal. I'm so thankful that it turned out as well as it has. You, your daughter and family have much to be thankful for.
-
OK folks. It looks like this one is winding down so I think it's time to put an end date on it. I want to thank all of you for your generous donations to Dan and Rose. So, we are going to end this one at midnight on this coming Friday, the 16th. That gives anybody who still wishes to get in on the trailer raffle another 3 days to do so. I have a busy weekend ahead of me but I will get all the tickets assigned and draw a number sometime Saturday or Sunday.

Looks like they have a good sale on all the weights. I'm going to stop by and pick up what I need to change the oil in my wife's Crossfire. It uses 8 1/2 quarts of 0W-40.
-
I've seen it done by a few people. Their next questions were "what is the best way to plug holes in the air breathers". These engines are already set from the factory to run too lean in most folks opinions. Allowing more air just makes them leaner yet.

Kenny, You can go to this thread and download the RSV Owners Manual. The instructions are on pages 4/16 and 4/17 I think. If don't have an owners manual, you should print it as it has information that you will need from time to time. Here are the two pages that tell how to program the buttons either manual or automatically though. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1828

Auxiliary brake light wiring
Freebird replied to DarkLeftArm's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I think that is an excellent idea for a product. I would have sure gone that route if it had been available when I did mine. Not a lot of extra wire in that area and it would have sure made it easier and reversible. -
Sounds like he doesn't know his products very well. I've bought several of them at Radio Shack. Last time I was there, they didn't have the 3' one though, only one that was 6'. I saw some 3' ones at Best Buy the other night. Sorry, I said Walmar earlier but it was actually Best Buy.
-
Not really. Just send the check to him at the address listed and then send me a PM that you sent it and I'll put you down for 6 chances.
-
I think they look fantastic but I don't want to give up my personalized ones.

A lot of people still run the 404 and some do so because of the whitewall. It's really not a bad tire. Won't last as many miles as an E3 or Avon but I thought the performance was fine. I don't know what you mean though about Maxxis being history. They appear to still be around.

Yes, Radio Shack has them and I even saw some at Best Buy last week near the Ipod accessories.

Are you talking about in the forum? I added that area once when I was having some trouble with the classifieds and also some here had commented that they felt they should be in the actual forum. It turned out that the vast majority preferred the actual classified pages and I think that most of our vendors have moved their items back there. I may need to delete the forum based ones to end the confusion.
