  1. All this talk about a depressed economy and yet folks are lined up two deep outside the Foot Locker store at the Sprawl of America just to get a raffle ticket to be allowed to spend $1,800.00 for a pair of Nike sneakers????????? :bang head:
  2. I have been tasked with getting donations for the General raffle for the Int'l rally this year. I will be sending letters out in the next few weeks to all our vendors. If anyone has anything to donate please let me or Amy know so we can keep a list. If anyone has questions feel free to call me on my cell phone at 716-982-8427 or Amy's cell number 716-863-0329. You can also e-mail me at motorcycletom53@yahoo.com.
  3. Trailer Raffle Has Concluded. No more ticket sales. Winner will be drawn soon. Thank you all very much for your support. As most of you know, Dano hit a dear on his RSV about 3 months ago and spent a good a long while in the hospital. He is home now and doing outpatient rehab but it is going to be at least a few more months before he is able to think about working again. Dano is self employed so no work means no money. Those of you who have been fortunate enough to meet him and Rose know that they are just great people. Dano is one that is always there when anybody needs his help but now he could use our help. Jeff and Margaret kindly donated the trailer that they bought and loaned Aussie Annie and Quickstep to use during their travels in the USA last summer. We are going to raffle this trailer off with all proceeds going to Dano. If you have no interest in the trailer and but with to donate to the fundraiser anyway, that would be great also. The trailer is a 1994 Cycle Mate. It had new tires installed last summer and the wheel bearings were all repacked at the same time. Now please be aware that this trailer is presently being stored at a members house in Washington State. Getting it home will basically be the winners responsibility but I know that as a group,, we can do a trailer relay and help get it to the winner. Rather than all the funds going through me or somebody else, I think the easiest way to do this will be to have you send your donations directly to Dano. The tickets will be $10.00 each or 3 for $25.00. If you use PayPal, PLEASE do NOT mention anything about a raffles as PayPal does NOT allow their services to be used for raffles. When you sent him the money, click on the "personal" tab and mark it as a "gift". That way there will be no PayPal fees held out of the donations. Now this will be an extra step and a bit of an inconvenience for you but if you are actually sending a donation and want to be included in the raffle, you need to send me a private message and let me know that you have sent Dano the donation and how much it was so that I will know how many tickets to be added to the raffle in your name. I will not be sending out ticket stubs or anything like that. At the conclusion of the raffles, I will use a random number generator to choose the winner. So let the fun begin. I hope that many of you will help out. If you can't send $10.00 for a raffle ticket, then $1.00, $5.00...whatever size donation will still be appreciated. It all adds up. Here is the info for Dano. You can use this email address to send funds via PayPal. Just got to paypal.com, login, click send money, enter Dano's email address, click on the tab that says personal, mark it as a gift and send. If you don't use PayPal, you can send a check, money order, whatever to this address. Dano's PayPal email address is: danob11@comcast.net His home address is: Dan Obert 8699 W 800 N Indianapolis, Indiana 46259-9402
  4. Please check the following list and verify that your name is here if you purchased tickets for the Dano Fundraiser trailer raffle. The numbers beside each name represent your ticket numbers. Please verify that I have you down for the correct number of tickets. If your name is not listed or the number of tickets is not correct, please send me a PM immediately. I plan to draw the winning number tomorrow morning around 10:00 AM Good luck to all of you. A special and truly heart felt thanks to Muffinman and Mini Muffin for the generous donation of the trailer. Thanks to all of you who reached out to help a member in need. Please not that there were some who donated but did not wish to be in on the raffle so this list is not representative of all who helped. NOTE: Now the the contest has ended and the winner picked, I have removed the names and ticket numbers. I don't know why anybody would care what their numbers were but I kept a copy just in case. If you want to know, just send me a PM and I'll tell you.

  8. Let me make a long story short.....a couple of days after my mini rally held at Pioneer Motorsports, I stopped in to see michella to check with her and see that all was well with them and that we would be welcomed back again next year....Pioneer had another shindig going on and there was a raffle for 3 new motorcycle tires of your choice...Michella asked me if I put in for the raffle...I told her I just purchased a new tire from them 3 weeks earlier and that I wasn't interested..After a little bickering and badgering back and forth she (michelle) filled out a slip with my name on it ....that was that..... Today I get home and I have a new Elite 3 tire sitting at my front door...moral of story....I don't know what it is ,but I am very happy that a friend and fellow member took the time to fill out a slip for me and entered it in the raffle...she didn't have to do that as I buy ALL of my tires from them anyhow...thank you Dunlop and Michelle from Pioneer motorsports...Now I have to buy a matching front tire as I have always run Dunlop 404 www's on my bike..... OK, I have the moral of the story....don't be such a lazy a$$ when it comes to stuff like this, you gotta be in it to win it.... or..... it is nice to be surrounded by good friends who care about you...
  9. I cant give you all the names of the raffle winners, but I can tell you who won 2 of the prizes............. 11. If you haven't mailed your registration or bought your raffle tickets yet, I will be closing early registration and raffle ticket sales by mail on 7/29/11, so if you haven't mailed it or ordered your tickets by then please wait and do it when you arrive, I dont want people showing up and I dont have their registration in hand. If you plan on coming and arent sure till the last minute it would be a great help if you could drop me a pm or post a reply on this post that you are coming, I dont want to be caught short on food, I havent in the past and I dont want to this time either. I normally prepare for aprox 100 people and order food for that amount, but I have a feeling this time it could go higher than that, and I dont want to have to ration the food, everyone knows how VR members like to eat:doh:!!! Also plese remember that if you order your raffle tickets via PayPal, please do not mention Raffle ticket, mark it as a donation for Vogel. Looking forward to seeing all my old VR friends and lots of new faces this year, who knows, this may me my last Vogel........:crying: And lest I forget there are only 24 Days left till Vogel!!!! Vogel Registration 2011.doc Vogel Raffle Tickets............ - VentureRider.Org
  12. I know it is still early, but by this time I normally have quite a few registrations for Vogel. As of right now I only have 6 registrations and the sales of the raffle tickets are very low. Raffle tickets are $10.00 ea. or 3 @ $25.00. So far we have a Dell D620 Laptop, 2 4 GB MP3/Video players, and I am hoping to add a GPS and a digital camera to that. You do not need to be at Vogel to win............... The poll is not showing very promising numbers either, so if you do plan on coming please go to the poll. Remember, all the money we raise by raffles, t-shirt, patch sales, and by any other means goes to St. Jude Children's Hospital. If you want to order a shirt or a patch just drop me a pm and I will add you to the list. The shirts should be somewhere between $18.00 to $20.00 and the patches are $5.00. If you register for Vogel each registration get a shirt and a patch. For more info and registration form go the the link below. :Venture:Tail of the Dragon V

  14. In case some members haven't seen the recent poll question set up, please check out the question regarding next years trailer to be raffled off at the International Rally. As the Trailer Raffle - winner to be drawn at the International Rally, is open to all supporting members & not just those at the rally, we (the committee) have 2 possible options available. Trailer shipped, or Winner makes own arrangements to retrieve it. Will trailer shipping to winner, affect my decision to buy Trailer Raffle tickets. ** Yes ** No We, on the committee, need to have as much feedback as possible over the few days, please. Thanks, all, for your assistance and consideration. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=54849
  15. OK folks...thanks to the help of member Adventure 1943, it looks likely that we will have a great pin striper available at Maintenance Day this year. He is at a rally this weekend and will confirm for sure when he gets home and checks his calendar but he has tentatively confirmed that he will be here. Here is his website so you can get an idea of the great work that he does. http://www.jaybirdcustomart.com/index.php At this time, he is looking at being here on Friday and Saturday so he should be able to accommodate a good number of folks that want some work done. He has also made the generous offer of donating one basic pin striping job for us to raffle off. Once I get it completely confirmed that he will be here, I will post more details about the raffle but my thoughts are that the money from the raffle will be for a charity. Eileen is now volunteering at a couple of different domestic violence centers so I will likely choose one of those as the charity for this particular event. So...if you haven't made plans to attend Maintenace Day at this point, now you have a bit more incentive to do so. There will be at least a couple of more vendors here also. The Butt Butler: Rick will be here and doing a LIMITED number of seats this year. He is bringing his wife and plans to do only a limited number of seats so that he can spend some time visiting instead of working daylight til dark. Mic-Mutes: Once again Bill will be here with his Mic-Mutes. This is a product that I've had on my bike for several years now and I HIGHLY recommend it. It is a feature that should have been standard equipment on the RSV. So....come one and come all. I can't believe that I'm saying this but come early. Though this event has always been a one day (Saturday) event, that small fact seems to have become routinely ignored with people showing up as early as Thursday evening and many not leaving until Sunday morning. But...I'm not complaining. It is always a great time. I look forward to seeing many old friends and making new friends. If you have never attended, don't be shy. It's a fun and family oriented event. You WILL be made to feel welcome.
  16. Okay folks, I know Christmas is coming up on us real fast, but now is the time to start thinking about getting your tickets for the 2010 International Ralley Grand Prize. We will be raffling off another trailer this year, and the committee has determined that we can keep the raffle ticket prices the same as they have been for the past three years. That is $10.00 each or 3 tickets for $25.00. Squidley conned me into handling the treasury for the 2010 Ralley, so you can order your raffle tickets by check or cash. Just make the check payable to me (Russell Hicks) and send it to 185 Redwood Drive, Apple Valley, MN 55124. Please tag the check for the trailer raffle. So, dig a little deeper and buy yourseld an early Christmas present.... Starting January 1, we will also be running a monthly progressive 50/50. Tickets for the 50/50 will be $1.00 each. For those not familiar with a Progressive 50/50, the rules are really simple. At the end of each month, the pot is split 50/50. 50% goes to the winner. So, if the pot is $100.00, the winner will receive $50.00. The remaining 50% will be split with 50% going to the ralley fund and the other 50% back into the pot for the following month. So, the February drawing would start off with $25.00. This way the month pot continues to grow larger and larger. As always, to eliminate any questions about fairness, I will not be participating in either the raffle or any of the 50/50 drawings. Wishing any and all who participate the best of luck.
  17. Just wanted to do a shout out here and thank BigFoot for his assistance in helping with the fund raising for the 2010 International at the M&E. For those that were in a position to purchase either tickets for the trailer raffle of the 50/50, your ticket numbers are being sent out by PM. Thanks again BigFoot.
  18. Ive had some people asking about their numbers....they misplaced, forgot...whatever. In a nutshell.........the tickets are 2 part......your numbers are on both parts......the part that will be detached and put in the bucket for the drawing also has your name..both real name and site name on it.( this was done as they were sold) When you check in at the rally....we can give you your stubs from your tickets if you want them..... In all reality there is no real need to know what your numbers are other than a "comfort" need. let this also be a reminder if you want raffle tickets and are not attending.......better get em today or tomorrow..... I was going to keep accepting raffle ticket orders thru paypal up until the day before the drawing but have decided tomorrow will be the last day for paypal sales on them. I have enough to keep straight without checking my emails for sales while im at the rally, besides i wont have a computer just my phone for emails. Those attending will still be able to purchase trailer raffle tickets there, aslo the raffle tickets for the st judes drawing for the 2 one of a kind belt buckles. addy for raffle ticket sales thru paypal is vrrally2009@yahoo.com simply state trailer or st judes with your payment.....please also include your vr site name.. I will also be taking down the registration website tomorrow ( sat) night.
  19. well I had to remove the raffle ticket option from the registration page this morning....seems paypal does not allow the sale of raffle tickets, etc. violation of their policys......i had to do it or they could close my account. i guess the big issue was having payment buttons for paypal associated with it. I could have left the raffle ticket info on there but had to remove their payment buttons so if anyone wants to purchase raffle tickets for the 09 rally yet thru paypal you will need to send payment directly to vrrally2009@yahoo.com 1 for $10 3 for $25 the St jude raffle tickets for the belt buckets are 1 for $5 3 for $10
  20. Did Black Owl ever send out the Raffle ticketts numbers just asking as I have not received the patch or ticketts yet and yes not able to make trip due to two daughters to give birth in Auguest:doh:
  21. Last call people......... to get your tickets for the trailer raffle..........1 for $10, 3 for $25 (yes we will be selling them yet at the rally for attendees) also last chance for those not attending to get tickets for the st judes one of a kind belt buckles raffle tickets...and remember all moneys go to st judes. you can send paypal payments to vrrally2009@yahoo.com for either of these. simply mark the payment either trailer or st judes and please include your site name.
  22. well peoples...its about 2 weeks away now....... you can still register...altho u will not be able to choose a tshirt size or color.... i ordered about 18 extra t's and patches so you will be able to choose from those at the rally.....I suggest if you really want a t shirt still you had best get your name on the list or you may miss out..i will have sizes L - XL- and a few XXL's in a variety of colors. raffle ticket sales have pretty much died out......remember u do not have to be present to win either the trailer or the 2nd prize of an aser netbook. At this time we have 5 prizes with more to come ..dependent on $$$ of tickets sold yet... st jude raffle tickets sale from non attenders have been very minimal...remember all moneys go to st jude as the belt buckles were donated and u do not have to be there to win these. we need to have a final count for the big dinner for the hub a week or so before the rally so we need you to purchase your dinners either singly or with a registration....or at least let us know you will be purchasing a dinner(s) at the rally....i will make one last post about it before i turn in the counts. I plan to take the registration page down before i leave for arkansas, so it will not be available for any orders after the 1st of august. You can still get raffle ticket orders in until the 4th thru paypal...i cant promise they will make it into the drawing after that as I dont want to spend all my time at the rally checking emails, etc. We will sell tickets at the rally right up until the dinner for both the trailer drawing and the st judes drawing.
  23. We have decided to open up the raffle for St Judes for the 2 one of a kind belt buckles we posted about previously. The reasoning behind this is to raise more funds for St Judes. Those not attending will now be able to purchase/donate to raffle tickets for it..... 1 for $5 or 3 for $10 ONLY those NOT attending the rally will be able to do this thru paypal. anyone attending the rally who wishes to get in on this raffle will need to get their tickets at the rally. The reason for this is to not make a whole lot of more record keeping work for us. You can send payment to vrrally2009@yahoo.com and please in the notes or comments section of your payment put your site name and that this is for st judes . We will have a cut off date of July 29th for these ... here is the info on the belt buckles... [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=38305]2009 rally st. jude raffle - VentureRider.Org[/ame] www.exoticstainlesssteel.com and sleeperhawk i expect to see you as the first to purchase...... and remember all funds collected for this raffle will go to St Judes
  24. Just Canceled my reservation. If is somebody interested room is available. Cindy forward dinner cost towards kids raffle. Still wanna T-Shirt Shipped to me. Don't Ask Why.
  25. come on folks...the more raffle tickets we sell the more prizes we get.......... remember all moneys from raffle ticket sales go towards prizes......... we already have the grand prize of the trailer and 2nd and 3rd place prizes as the netbooks....... Lets get some more prizes !!!! lets get some more tickets sold and also as said many times.........you do not have to be in attendance at the rally to win the grand prize or the 2nd place prize !!
