  1. That's what we do to you if you behave, so now be nice and some Mod will step in to screw it all back inplace I'm sure.:rotf:
  2. So the oil get pumped up to the cams and then drips off onto the heads, but where does it go from there???????? I am quite used to looking at automotive heads and there are drain holes to get the oil back into the pan, but I can't seem to find any on a first gen. The reason I'm asking this, is that when I was doing the tappet adjustment, one side of the head was full of oil, so how come, it just can't keep pumping it up there with no place to drain it away. An inquiring mind needs an answer.
  3. Looks to me like he was thinking: Now why would anyone want to ride this, when the could be riding a VENTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Another area of concern would be your motor mounts and frame bolts. When I went to remove my engine last fall I found all of them to be somewhat loose, not so loose as to be able to fall off or get lost, but loose enough to cause some play, and it wouldn't take much much for the scoot to notice that and start playing with you at 100 mph.
  5. I would be checking the 'final gear case splines'. Mostly these have been run dry and then are worn. This could give you the noise and some of the backlash you are speaking of. Just remove the back wheel and pronto, they are there.
  6. Here we go again, a whole thread of 'know it all's' and in the end I'll just have to put everybody straight. Keep up the banter though, everytime I read a recipe I learn something new that I can then share with those who already think that MY ribs are the best:think:.
  7. As the garage door starts to close,,,,, the look on his face,,,,,,,,,,,,,ohhhh I know that feeling well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,now how much longer before,,,,,ya I know, first it has to be put together again and the spring has to come,,,,,,,,,,oooooo I can't wait
  8. Ok, upon further reflection and deeper digging into the site I came across this site: http://trilliumtours.com/index.html. Not that I'm that interested in someone guiding me around my home province, but for someone from out of town, this might be a serious consideration. Seems by the type on their site, that they are interested in pleasing the customer and have some real nice tours planned. Now sites like that I would call a MotorCycle site. I guess it's not all bad, just had to get past the GOV\ON.
  9. Try opening up the throttle plate on #4, if it is closed, it will draw very heavy, so is out of adjustment and the reason your doing a sync.
  10. Well I thought, now we got it together, we got a real honest to goodness motorcycle site that sets up some good rides in Ontario. Should have known it was the government that put it together. They just copied all the info from another part of the government site. Nothing special related to riding at all. Road maps are standard, places to visit are shown only for those who paid to have themselves advertised, nothing different than the brochures we get in the mail every year, other than the word MOTORCYCLE. I'm really kind of disappointed. Hi-lighted scenic routes, places to stay, and places to eat would have been more up my alley. What a bummer, more tax dollars down the poop shoot.
  11. Don't you have work to do or something????????
  12. Thanks Don, but I quite sure that our local Bob will have one close handie. but if not, I'll keep you in mind.
  13. What????????you were born to??????????????:rotf:
  14. Ah now you tell me, you're taking all the fun out of it for Wayne, he doesn't know where anything goes, but then neither do I. Know one thing though, I'll be a lot sooner where I was later before.
  15. All that oil coming out of the fork is supposed make for a better landing, isn't it? isn't that why there is oil in the forks? best not wear a helmet, it only gonna get scratched up, he's got it figured,,,,,,,,just not very right.
  16. It's just really quite simple. Went to install the clutch basket, and there are a number of different reason for wanting another one. The one I have is not shiny enough - when I looked at it it looked somewhat crooked - the gears on the back looked a little worn - the engine fell off the work area when heavy breathing was employed and then smashed the basket, which would then render it unusable in a first gen - while tightening the stator the wrench flew off, hit the ceiling and bounced back and hit the basket breaking off one off it's fingers, Ya I like the last one, because it's close to what might really have happened. Either way whether you believe it or not, Carl is in need of another clutch basket, and I don't want no whining, so hopefully we'll get one from a VMAX, compliments of our local Mechanic, BOB. Carl
  17. Now Mother, where oh where would you put Sherry, OOOOOOOohhhhhhhhhhhhh Shhhheeeeeeeeeerrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeee?
  18. Oh sure and you promised not to say anything, and with the M&E coming up on Saturday, they are all gonna wanna know, probably t'row me out in the 'nobak somewhere if I don't tell, and if I let you tell the story it will probably take 1\2 hour to come up with all the goodies you can think of. Never mind, I was going to keep it secret, and that's my plan and I'm sticking to it, got a lot of work to do on Saturday:whistling:, may keep me busy for hours:think: maybe I'll just go out for lunch by myself,,,,,,,,,,,,,
  19. Now that is all good info, and just what I was looking for. Now another question: the part number I posted is for the clutch basket for an 85 (Flatout) but the 02 lists it with a 10 in the third section instead of a 00. The 2002 is also $40.00 cheaper???????????
  20. Nope, not what I'm looking for. Example: part # 26H-16150-00-00 26H -stands for something 16150 - indicates something else 00 - tells us other important information 00 - tells something else entirely
  21. Ok,,,, will you guys cut it out,,,,,,,,I got Wizard765 all primed and ready to help slip the motor back into place, and now you're scaring him away with all that blood loss talk. You know how we deal with left over product around here don't you??????????guess the pepperettes are just going to cost a bit more in the future,,,,,,got to grind the old meat a few more times, than that young tender stuff.:rotf:
  22. There used to be a thread somewhere, and now I can't find it, but it showed what the different parts of the part numbers indicated. Wonder if someone has that info and would like to share it with the rest of us. Course then we would all know and the person giving out the info would not have one up on the rest of us anymore. Nahhhh,,,don't think that's a problem around here, sometimes more info is given than really needed and I won't say pin,,,,,
  23. Found the problem, yep you guessed it, it's the mechanic, or rather the butcher turned mechanic, or maybe the old man trying to remember everything that goes back in. Didn't take too long to figure out what the problem could be when I seen some extra parts lying on the workbench, they were headed for the coffee can, but for now the coffee can is still empty. Amazing what happens when you back off the final gear a little bit, everything starts to work smoothly and effectively. Wow Just a few shims EH?
  24. I heard of some that lay their bikes down and get the faring off that way. It's not a move I would suggest, it seems to come off rather easy with lots of pieces, but a real bummer to put back the way it was. So I think you're going about the right way, one piece at a time and go gentle. Like has been said, if it don't want to come there has to be a fastener some where. Don't worry too much about the screws, there are some different ones, about 4 main kinds I think, but they don't interchange too well, so when you go to put it back together, go gentle again, and if it doesn't seem to fit well, it probably is not meant to go there. Just my foolausofie.
  25. If you need some to test the new system, ask me, I can really screw things up when necessary.
