  1. Had the same with my 89, wouldn't shift worth a hoot without the clutch, the 95 I got now don't seem to have that issue, they must have cahnged something in the setup, maybe that's what they mean by automatic? you should look into it, maybe something you can add on or change or something.
  2. AHHch you should have bought a first gen, the second gen is just trying very hard to be a better lookalike and it seems yours is doing very well at it. Honestly I can't answer your question, but some 2nd gen riders may have enough gumption to help out with an answer.
  3. Good to hear you got 'er done, took me a lot longer, but then I had more time and maybe got a little more intimate with her, spent a lot of time just looking and carassing if you know what I mean. Could almost dream of all the curves and unseen parts. Lucky you didn't do any damage when you forced the sifter linkage in upside down, bet it went together a lot easier when you got it right huh? Looks like Wizard765 wants his done next year and now that he thinks I'm and expert, he wants help. What do you all think? should I let him experience this intimatecy on his own, or should I get involved in their deeping relationship?
  4. I'm wondering to about the time factor, want to keep you around as you are, and would rather have you missing for a short time than have you loose big time and have to come to see you each time. Type II can become full blown so watch it and treat it right, in the meantime I'll talk to the Great Physician about you as well. Carl
  5. Got you covered for the OEM oil filter housing, not the adaptor. Anytime, just let me know. I had 2 sent to me when my own misteriously dissappeared, so I have yours already. I knew someone was going to need it.
  6. I told you before and I'll tell you again,,,,,,,,,,,,,now what was it,,,, I was gonna say,,,,,,,,,,,,,oh ya, my forgetter is still working,,,,,,or was it that my rememberer is broke. I can't remember which is was but at my age it make no never mind, and that way i live in peacefull bliss.
  7. I now realize that I forgot to mention that those were also replaced with TDKs last year.
  8. My question for the know it all'rs, is why do our scoots use copper core high tension wires instead of carbon core. I have a lot of static in my radio coming from the ignition, it's still there when I unplug the stator. I put in new wires last year and new plugs. It's new plugs every spring for me. This year I tried non resistor type plugs but that was not a direction to go, runs great but the noise is deafening. So back to resistor plugs, but how about carbon core wires. Went through all the grounding issues, shielded cables etc.etc. can't seem to solve this problem.
  9. It'll have to warmer than last year, but I'm looking forward to it already. What missing parts??????? just a few screws, that's all,,,, anyways all the holes were filled up with Plastex,,,,,glued everything together,,,, now no more cracks to worry about,,, nothing gonna fall off,,, and I got screws to sell on Ebay as vintage,,, should command a good price I would think,, maybe pay for all the repairs,,,,coffee can will be used for shipping,, also a relic. If it don't sell real well, there always some newer scoots in need of tested product.
  10. Totally brainwashed, I'm Sure
  11. OOOOOO easy boys, this site is for helping each other, not to cut one another to pieces. Each of us has their own experiences and life to live, a little guidance is good but it should be helpful.
  12. Looks nice from here, it's an awesome color, don't know if you gonna get lonna to ride on that seat though, maybe think about putting something a little softer on that center section, I hear she likes it better that way, and she deserves better as well. If you want we can hold a collection for a better seat.:thumbsup2: Good to see you have a ride again. Looking forward to see how she runs out against Scamper.
  13. Or finish
  14. So did I miss a post?????????? The Squid has a new scoot??????????awesome, when do we ride?????????
  15. Great day yesterday, and not so bad today. Got her finished kast night, 11:00 pm, checked it out and then went today to make sure I checked it out right last night. After 2 hours I feel confident enough to say that the rubber is on the road. YAHOOOOO!!!!!!
  16. Just in case you all were worried about little olde me, as two members who emailed me today were, Scamper is back to her old normal self with a little more life than usual. This maybe due to the fact that she's been sitting since mid November or due to the fact that she now has been babied and caressed beyound believe. Second gear was fixed, carbs cleaned but not rebuilt, engine cleaned out thoroughly, new oil and filter, tender loving care in many adjustments,,, tightened engine mounts solidly, new plugs (non-risistor type) maybe not a good idea), so far lots of noise,,,, new Avon on the back, new pads all the way around, some new bearings, seals and clutch basket, (I'll not say why), clutch installed according to book instructions, which means that you put the basket in first, then the thrust washer, then the boss, after which is the locking ring and finally the nut. Yea I know, the thrust washer needs to be in the right place, you can't just put it somewhere and hope it goes to where it should be,,,, doctors have it much easier, they can just throw it all back and it will striaghten itself out LOL. So last night about 11:45,, 2 scoots were headed for Burford for a quick test run and soo far everything checks out super. Boy what a good feeling. Thanks all for the help and input and concern,,,,,,,,,,,,,,we're on the road again........................... Carl
  17. SOOooo are you open for offers or is there a set price?????I mean why post the pictures, you trying to get us all jealous????????
  18. Hebrews 13:2 Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.
  19. That's about the exact weight we put on together, but as was mentioned, my wife is more lighter on top than the lower end and that can make a difference. The problem as I see it, is that given the exact same senario without a passenger that bike was headed for a laydown anyways. What I read between the lines was a turned wheel before starting out, and yep, it's then: ground bound.
  20. Thaks for all the tips so far. The ball is in place, the pressure plate moves out about close to a 1\4 inch or maybe a little less, I warmed up the oil and let it run to sync the carbs, checked the pressure plates to make sure they alllll went in the same way, turned the friction plates so that the single cut out now lines up with the marks on the basket, made sure that the alingment on the pressure plate was lined up with the mark on the basket, made sure that the pressure plate was seated flate before spring installation, removed the slave to check the installation, now I'll check to make sure I put a washer under the nut. I have a sledge hammer, a 5 foot crowbar, a big hole out in the back yard and a lot of patience, but Sunday is riding weather:happy65::happy65:still 3 days to go
  21. Yep, would have learned that you go where you look!!!
  22. Jealously will get me nowhere, now let me know when you get the bike off of the lift and I'll lift it for you.
  23. So now that the power plant is back in after the second gear issue, I start up the scoot to hear it run and check out that the tranny is humming nicely. Replaced clutch basket with one that is not broke, used the same fricton plates that were in there from last year, then brand new, and now I discover that the clutch will not release. Checked for air in the clutch lines, again and again and for sure there is nothing but fluid there, handle feels good with very little play. Took apart the whole clutch assembly again and again, checked and re-checked, all seems good. Started 'er up and let it get warm and tried again, no luck, so now I'm typing my way to a solution, hopefully. Any bright ideas? No extra parts in the coffee can yet at this point.
  24. Boy that's good news and a lot sooner than I expected. Good for you my friend. A little at a time, and you'll get there. Seems the body is rebuilding aokay so far huh, it'll go faster the better it gets and the warmer the weather.
  25. Glad you could and did post about it. Can be a reminder for all of us this time of year, MUD, SAND, SALT,,,,,,you name it, there can be lots of left over debrie on the roads. Be watchful folks!!!!!!!
