  1. Even the first gens will fall over sometimes, they are more nibble on their feet, but when they decide to take a rest, let 'em, it's much easier to pick them up, then to try to stop them from something they're going to do anyways. To pick it up??????? Back yourself up to the bike, put your butt into the edge of the seat, one hand on the handle bar, the other hand on something like a grab bar in the back, and now you just walk backwards pushing with your butt into the edge of the seat. Don't try lifting it, just push with your butt. Make sure that it's either in gear or that a brake is on if you are on a slope. It's that easy!!!!!!!
  2. Thanks Charlie, I've read it before, lots of times, and lots of times I realize how good we have it when we have all our utensils working. Hope to read it more times yet, because as of now I'm not near perfect, and can use all the help that's available.
  3. I'm not saying nuting!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd only be in deep kaka
  4. I've always found it hard to find neutral from first, I keep trying and sometimes I get lucky. Mostly it jumps to second and then from there I have better pressure contols with my foot to find neutral. In neutral all the gears are disengaged, separated, so that leave very little space for the gears, and so neutral is a very small spot in the shifting pattern, easy to jump from one to the other. It takes a loving touch to stop the shift in neutral, but often getting it out of first takes a manly pull with the upper part of the foot, and seeing as we use that action very little it's not all that controlled, pushing down with you're foot is used reguarily so can be a much better and lighter touch.
  5. Kind of like my thought. When I ride, who's got time for coffee? sometimes that's why I ride, coffee, ice cream, food, dessert, cheese cake, food, coffee, cheesecake. I ride for the pleasure of the ride, the destination, the company, meet new folks, the ride and when I need coffee???????somebody always needs to go P,,, so two birds with one stone,,,, now an ashtray??????????
  6. If I understand correctly, there are only two kinds of riders in the world, those who have dropped their scoots and those who will sometime drop their scoots. That being said, and now in your head, ride to learn and learn to ride. Each scoot has it's good points and it's more difficult issues. You are a human and so can learn to adjust to different situations. The bike is great, but the rider needs to become part of it to be able to master it. As said before, train for some time and you'll love it, but you will always have to respect it.
  7. Before you go to too much trouble, determine whether you really want the back mic to work, maybe silence is golden and you just know it yet. Other than that, I can be of no help.
  8. Really good thread, I'm keeping my eyes on this one. Thanks Mr. Newman
  9. Wow GOOD MORNING!!!!!!!!!must be work to do today!!!!!! If you break the shield it becomes useless, it needs to be continuous or it is no good and the wires will pickup static, the broken shield is probably worse than no shield at all.
  10. If you buy that, it looks like you'll be getting both front and back,,,,,,hummmm maybe 2 sets would be a good thing, one for you and one for some friend of yours??????????
  11. It was just checking out it's new owner to see what sort of an idiot it had to deal with. Now that it knows, it will try to do that more often just to keep you on your toes. Was it a male voice or a female voice that prompted you?
  12. Not my color, but the blonde owners will be somewhat jealous, really nice looking, enjoy.
  13. Anytime at all, no thanks needed, but is appreciated, other than for the folks who gave us this site and keep it fine tuned.
  14. Don't forget, the shifter linkage goes up, behind the stator cover, not down as it wants to do...
  15. If you are worried about it, while on the center stand, push on the rear brake and see if it stops, if it does than you're fine to go, if it rattles and and threatens to come apart and stop the engine, then your clutch is not disengaging properly and you will need to bleed it some more. Let us know how you make out.
  16. Canadian is better, because if you break one piece you only have to replace 1\2 of it, with the Rivco you have to replace the whole thing.
  17. Had the same with my 89, wouldn't shift worth a hoot without the clutch, the 95 I got now don't seem to have that issue, they must have cahnged something in the setup, maybe that's what they mean by automatic? you should look into it, maybe something you can add on or change or something.
  18. AHHch you should have bought a first gen, the second gen is just trying very hard to be a better lookalike and it seems yours is doing very well at it. Honestly I can't answer your question, but some 2nd gen riders may have enough gumption to help out with an answer.
  19. Good to hear you got 'er done, took me a lot longer, but then I had more time and maybe got a little more intimate with her, spent a lot of time just looking and carassing if you know what I mean. Could almost dream of all the curves and unseen parts. Lucky you didn't do any damage when you forced the sifter linkage in upside down, bet it went together a lot easier when you got it right huh? Looks like Wizard765 wants his done next year and now that he thinks I'm and expert, he wants help. What do you all think? should I let him experience this intimatecy on his own, or should I get involved in their deeping relationship?
  20. I'm wondering to about the time factor, want to keep you around as you are, and would rather have you missing for a short time than have you loose big time and have to come to see you each time. Type II can become full blown so watch it and treat it right, in the meantime I'll talk to the Great Physician about you as well. Carl
  21. Got you covered for the OEM oil filter housing, not the adaptor. Anytime, just let me know. I had 2 sent to me when my own misteriously dissappeared, so I have yours already. I knew someone was going to need it.
  22. I told you before and I'll tell you again,,,,,,,,,,,,,now what was it,,,, I was gonna say,,,,,,,,,,,,,oh ya, my forgetter is still working,,,,,,or was it that my rememberer is broke. I can't remember which is was but at my age it make no never mind, and that way i live in peacefull bliss.
  23. I now realize that I forgot to mention that those were also replaced with TDKs last year.
  24. My question for the know it all'rs, is why do our scoots use copper core high tension wires instead of carbon core. I have a lot of static in my radio coming from the ignition, it's still there when I unplug the stator. I put in new wires last year and new plugs. It's new plugs every spring for me. This year I tried non resistor type plugs but that was not a direction to go, runs great but the noise is deafening. So back to resistor plugs, but how about carbon core wires. Went through all the grounding issues, shielded cables etc.etc. can't seem to solve this problem.
  25. It'll have to warmer than last year, but I'm looking forward to it already. What missing parts??????? just a few screws, that's all,,,, anyways all the holes were filled up with Plastex,,,,,glued everything together,,,, now no more cracks to worry about,,, nothing gonna fall off,,, and I got screws to sell on Ebay as vintage,,, should command a good price I would think,, maybe pay for all the repairs,,,,coffee can will be used for shipping,, also a relic. If it don't sell real well, there always some newer scoots in need of tested product.
