  1. Wow, room enough for more as well. Looks good from here.
  2. Maybe you could post a link so that we have a better opinion.
  3. Can't help you with that one, but be patient, someone will. There's not as many electronic gurus here as mechanical so it may take a bit.
  4. Sounds like something electrical, could be a joint, or maybe a primary wire to the coil. Could also be the coil or coils, I don't know much about a MKII, does it have one coil or a coil for each cylinder?
  5. If it's a spline there will be movement, where there is movement there should be grease or oil or something.
  6. Whole bunch of us heading in that direction, we could point the way for you or maybe even keep an eye on you.
  7. The way I did mine was super easy: put the transmission in neutral, take a look down the tube to see where the U-joint is, and poke the drive shaft at it, once it kind of connects turn the U-joint with the end of the drive shaft as you give it a slight push. Somewhere, before you get to one full turn the whole works will slide together. The splines mentioned here are the final drive and do need to be greased with a super sticky grease or everything will fly off and wear will happen.
  8. Does that mean you have them all working now????? Good deal,, I'm soon ready to retire,,, need some extras and already put in my request for a raise, hopefully with Jeff working they may realize that there is enough for a bit more:thumbsup2:
  9. Was at the dealers last week and got to talking to an older gentleman, 55, about his scoot. He had it there for a licence certification for about 3 weeks and it seemed that it could go a little longer. He was getting impatient. He's a bit like me, only got his licence for 2 years, bought an older scoot and now wants to ride. Trouble was, his front forks were leaking bad and needed to be repaired, but he was afraid to do it himself because he hadn't done it before. Well I don't have that hang-up, if I haven't done it before now is the first time then. So, to keep this story shorter he called me on Tuesday and asked if my shop would be available and if I could stand by while he did the work. Seeing as the Wizard765's bike is all fixed and gone, I got room, so it's here. It's a 1980 GL 1100, in need of some tender loving care and maybe some upgrades to chrome from rust, but basically it's looks like a lot of elbow grease. He started by pulling off the forks and then I cleaned a little piece on the lower tubes. Well they look like brand new now. Course you just can't stop there, so you call in the troops. We should have this scoot on the road next week after the parts all arrive, new seals, springs, oil, ,,,,,, and oh ja ,,,,,,,tires!!!!!!!! Believe it or not, the front tire was a vintage for sure, manufactured by Dunlop 1973, and the rear was a lot newer,, 1990. He plans on making this a winter project and it should look real nice by next spring.
  10. So now that I have all my ducks in a row finally, and am ready to ride, how's everyone else planning on scooting over to see Don on his great day? Time, maybe, to do some organizing and planning. I thought about doing something different this year and take the Peelee Island ferry, but that turns out to be a 7 hour total trip with the cost of $44.00 per scoot and rider, plus the passenger, one way. Sounds a bit expensive and they won't let you ride while on the ferry. So looks like what we did last year sounds like fun again, but I would hire a less expensive place to sleep, rather than the Comfort Inn at over $100.00 just to close my eyes.
  11. Check the sliders to make sure they are working properly, and do a carb sync. Either issue will give you what you are experiencing.
  12. Well what are YOU going to do about it, I'll just sit here and wait, and if you find that I'm not here, I'm out riding. Trying to get to Maintanence day, it's still somewhat up in the air.

  13. 1972 now that's old, so must be good.
  14. Boat????????there's a whole ship load here
  15. Enjoy what you can of the time you still have together, and don't forget to spend some time in secret, with Jeanie as well, and He will hold you as no one else can.
  16. Well I did it, I'll have to admit, didn't want to be left out,,,,got a lot of requests lately to be a friend,,,,, so I thought to join in,,,,,you know I like friends,,,, but the real advantage escapes me at this point,,,, as was mentioned, we are all friends. So maybe Don can enlighten us as to all the advantages of 'friends'????????
  17. Makes good sense to me, thanks for the idea. Carl
  18. And now the link goes to a blank page
  19. The hose you are talking about is a formed hose, so to replace it with a straight piece is asking for trouble. A straight hose in that short of distance is bound to kink and so not let any fluid through, there is no pressure there, so you need free flow. Mine would be parked if I lost it.
  20. Think about the process: Factory paint and clear coat so that the color is covered, along comes a scratch and now we want to take some of that covered-over paint from under the clearcoat and color up the scratch?? Doesn't work in my mind. Somehow I could never understand how anything could 'fill in' a scratch. When you use an aggressive finish you actually remove some of the tarnished paint to reveal fresher paint underneath, and so this removed paint then fills in any scratches, only for short while though, until it is washed out or otherwise removed. I might be all wrong with my thoughts here, but that does happen from time to time and probably will continue for a time yet.
  21. From what I've read here so far, it's the only way to go. I personally don't have the need, but for a lot of guys, it's the cat's meow.
  22. glad to hear that you're ok and healing, God Bless you in the process. Carl
  23. Two thoughts, ideal time to take the swing arm off is when the tire is off already, but then I'm not there so you know best, and yes just drill and tap for the grease zerks,,,,, or you could just drill a hole just small enough to tight fit a tube from a spray grease can and lube it that way,,,, that's what I did and it works great,,, too big a hole though and you will need to fit a zerk anyways.
  24. Best thing to do, quickest and easiest, take it all down and rebuild it on the bench. Also add grease zerks so that you can keep them greased from time to time.
