  1. Is it a pop or a buzz? A pop would most likely come from a loose connection or a poor connection, a buzz will come from radio frequency picked up by a wire, in this case one of your audio wires. So to get rid of a pop, check the connectors and do as you have been told. To get rid of a buzz, move the wires to a new position and tape them there, if all is now good, it should stay good.
  2. Don't know the whole story here, but my daughter, Canadian born, Iowa Educated, teacher turned personal trainer, says: Dad if your knees are getting stiff, you're getting older and lazyier, so now you need to stretch them tendons more often, like maybe once a day. Maybe that will help you as well as it does for me.
  3. If it doesn't solve itself, there is a plug connector under the left faring that may be coming loose. It usually just needs to taken apart, greased with dielectric grease and put back together, While you're there do whatever other connectors you might find.
  4. Thanks for the story. As with all stories, I take them and replay them, as you do your own. What went wrong, what was different, what could, should, might have been done. Hopefully in the process, I will learn from others mishaps, mistakes, and make a safer ride for the two of us. Target fixation can be ugly, you go where you're looking, and we all need to be very aware of it's presence. I find it really amazing that at one point as you get into a curve, at a descent rate of speed, you can find yourself heading oh so nicely into the opposite lane, but then if you realize what is causing this and change your target, the scoot seems to hop right back into the track it should have followed in the first place. Once again, thanks for the story, got something else to be thankful for today and something else to play through my mind to keep it busy.
  5. When I do mine, and 85, so maybe that makes a difference, although I doubt it, I get the u-joint to face the bottom, or close to it. I then put the tranny in neutral and push the shaft to the u-joint, easy to find seeing as it's at the bottom. While holding it tight to the u- joint I will turn the shaft which at the same time turns the joint. As the two turn togther, there comes a time that they line up and the spline slips into the joint. If it is not alinged properly it will do so on it's own, it only takes about 1\2 a turn to accomplish this.
  6. Can't see it doing much, but then there's maybe not all that much to do.
  7. My experince with the steering head is to tighten the snot out it until the steering feels tight and you have no bounce when the wheel is swung to the side. At this point I back off the star nut a little, until I get just a little bounce. If everything else is good, bearings and grease, then all should be good. Always do a test ride to make sure things aren't tooo tight. This solves the slow speed turning wobble as well as the higher speed steering wobble. Now if someone could find a solution to the high speed total bike waddle, that would be interesting.
  8. As I suggested in the other post, use some powdered ABS (or shaved), mix with acetone and you can do all kinds of fancy stuff. In your case I not sure exactly how it's put together (I have a 1st gen and not your problem) but I would suggest without seeing it: butt joint it together first with a very thin mixture, wait 10 minutes and then back it with a thicker, overlap patch, Should come out perfect and black.
  9. Don't know anything about the BB codes,,,,,, if we don't like anything around here we use buckshot,,,,works better, faster, and costs less. About the plastic \ ABS repair,, it's called Plastex and they will put on a demo at the International Rally in 2 weeks, in Kitchener. A little tricky to work with until you get used to it, but does an awesome job. http://www.plastex.ca/ You can also use a combo of powdered ABS and acetone. I use a piece of ABS drain pipe, and file off what I might need, mix it with acetone and paste things together. Works good as well, but doesn't like to be too thick. Carl

    Gasoline odor

Next time put some Jack Daniels in the tank in stead of gas,,,,cost shouldn't be that much different and if it really drives you nuts, you could always drink some to ease the pain,,,,,,also will be a whole lot more enjoyable to look for the leak...
  11. I'll not say nothink here, I only get me in more deeeep kaka.
  12. Glad you're ok, posts like this scare me, but when I read your story it assures me that not all accidents, contrary to the believe of many, end up a total loss.
  13. Guess I'll stay away from the dragon, I like more time for riding, less time for fixing and healing. Glad to hear it all turned out so well, slow down a little, next time we might have to read words in a different order.
  14. Better get ready some big wind, there's some very long winded stories being worked on already:rotf:
  15. Awe comeon guys, just when I'm about to get my licks in, you guys shut it down,,,,,,,,,,,,again,,,,,,,,,oh well there's always a next time.
  16. If I were SWM I wouldn't send him a new one either, but maybe if he paid for the new one they would give him credit when he sent the other one back.?.?.?
  17. Two things come to mind, the one is the throttle issue, and it can be REAL, but takes practise to figure out, the other is that there could be an issue with the steering not giving you a smooth left turn and that would take the fun out of it. Yes it could be the rider as well, but usually there is a reason why the rider reacts differently to different turns. Head up though when doing a turn, for sure. Often the culprit. When we get worried over something we tend to watch it very closely, so if you are watching your turn very closely, your head will be down and watching the next 20 feet of travel, bad move, look up and down the road to where you are going and the turn will suddenly become smooth and easy. Let us know how it all pans out or if you have more issues. Carl
  18. Good to hear bud, now let us know how it goes from here.
  19. Wish I could be in body, but will attend in soul only. God Bless Carl
  20. I thought she had graduated 2 weeks ago when she got the awesome chance to ride the back of a 1st gen, and Scamper at that. Ok so now it's official, guess she couldn't wear that fancy dress on a scoot eh?????? Lucky for me, or I would have been facing backwards most of the time. WOW Congrats Brooke, now on to the real stuff, wish you the best. Carl
  21. Make sure you didn't cross up the wires going to the lights, both sides need to be wired to the same color. You may have got one side wrong.
  22. I want to see this Intercourse town, whenever I've heard about it before the lights were always off so maybe now the lights will be on:):). Just the kind of info we're lookig for, this is going great. I can now plan a trip and Marca can decide were to sleep, either in total Bliss or somewhere else.
  23. It's a wonder he didn't blame this on eating his way out of Green Acres, or maybe caught it coming through customs. Sure is a 'fine' way to take some time off though, first the foot and now the gut!!! Let's see, what's above the mid-section, oh no, that wouldn't happen would it??????????? ,,,,,,he was fine last we saw him, so all is well, we hope. Your also in our prayers Bob, get well soon and if you need more help, just post it and we'll see what comes of it.
  24. For some of us this life is super, but for others, if this is all there is,,,,,,,,,then what would be the need to carry on. Thank God there can be a future after this life. We will ask for endurance and peace as well as healing.
  25. The pull cable goes to the far left of the carb and the return cable goes to the 'inside' of the carb. The pull cable goes to the inside of the rod with the little white plastic bushing so it doesn't rub. We can give you more help, just let us know what it is your stuck on.
