And if all that don't work, stop by here and we'll fix it up.

Seems you are in a hurry, are you heading to the rally, I can pick one up for you and have it there by pm today, what's your wish?
-
I suppose then you could do the ebay thing or even check around to any used bike shops. If you're not in a hurry then we'll be able to help maybe with used parts.

What I would do first is to take the controller apart and clean it. That's the unit with all the lights and the buttons. I would think you have sticky dirty contacts under the buttons.
-
If you haven't found it you don't have it, further than that, as Squeeze said. And oh,,,most of us sleep at night so if you post at midnight it might be sunup before we get to read about your problems, unless someone is up for some reason, then we always check the site.

Easy solution, get a 1st gen:thumbsup2:

Yep, I would check out the fuse box real close, so close in fact I would change it.

Thanks Don. Now could you delete all the posts to this thread so that the discussion stays strickly with the car tire issue and so stays informative for those who would like to use it as such? Sorry guys, just my opinion, but Don did say STRICKLY. And no I'm not ticked, just like to be a little organized.

If we leave on time our stay in Fort Erie will be around 11 to 11:30. probably won't be any earlier than that. Let us know and we'll meet up.

Thanks for the ideas guys. Today I thought I'd just take the erring unit out and see what there was to see. Well I removed the class first and still had F\B, I then removed the screws holding the plastic cover the holds the CB and still had F\B, I then lifted the CB out of the bike and now the problem seems to be solved, if only for the moment. Put it all back together, took it out for a 30 minute ride and so far so good, now to plug both helmets in, that's tomorrow, we'll see how it pans out.

Last time I seen him, Squid, he wasn't movin' to fast, he was complaining about his speedo being broke but I got me half a hunch he maybe wasn't going fast enough to make it come up.

I have an 85 VR with a CB from an 86. All seemed to work well, but I now have a feedback issue when I key the mic with my PTT button. This feedback is noticeable in channels 25 to 40 but doesn't seem to be there in the lower channels. On Ch 20 it is barely noticeable and not a real issue but as I good up in channels the worst it gets. looking for ideas. Carl

Poor performance after tip over
Marcarl replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I like the answers so far and those are the issues I would deal with first, but then if that don't solve the problem, you may have shook up some dirt in the bottom of the tank and got some of it into the system. Try a can of Seafoam in a half tank of gas, run it into the system and then let it sit overnight before running the rest through the next day. When that half tank is used, fill it back up again. -
We will continue to ask for intervention from the only One who can. Nothing happens without His will and He also has you in His care. Let us all bend our knees and see what The Almighty can do.

Is it a pop or a buzz? A pop would most likely come from a loose connection or a poor connection, a buzz will come from radio frequency picked up by a wire, in this case one of your audio wires. So to get rid of a pop, check the connectors and do as you have been told. To get rid of a buzz, move the wires to a new position and tape them there, if all is now good, it should stay good.

Don't know the whole story here, but my daughter, Canadian born, Iowa Educated, teacher turned personal trainer, says: Dad if your knees are getting stiff, you're getting older and lazyier, so now you need to stretch them tendons more often, like maybe once a day. Maybe that will help you as well as it does for me.

Intermittent Radio Channel Selection
Marcarl replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
If it doesn't solve itself, there is a plug connector under the left faring that may be coming loose. It usually just needs to taken apart, greased with dielectric grease and put back together, While you're there do whatever other connectors you might find. -
Thanks for the story. As with all stories, I take them and replay them, as you do your own. What went wrong, what was different, what could, should, might have been done. Hopefully in the process, I will learn from others mishaps, mistakes, and make a safer ride for the two of us. Target fixation can be ugly, you go where you're looking, and we all need to be very aware of it's presence. I find it really amazing that at one point as you get into a curve, at a descent rate of speed, you can find yourself heading oh so nicely into the opposite lane, but then if you realize what is causing this and change your target, the scoot seems to hop right back into the track it should have followed in the first place. Once again, thanks for the story, got something else to be thankful for today and something else to play through my mind to keep it busy.

Drive shaft question
Marcarl replied to emack's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
When I do mine, and 85, so maybe that makes a difference, although I doubt it, I get the u-joint to face the bottom, or close to it. I then put the tranny in neutral and push the shaft to the u-joint, easy to find seeing as it's at the bottom. While holding it tight to the u- joint I will turn the shaft which at the same time turns the joint. As the two turn togther, there comes a time that they line up and the spline slips into the joint. If it is not alinged properly it will do so on it's own, it only takes about 1\2 a turn to accomplish this.
