  1. I would think a double dose on the donate button for leaving junk laying around that could hurt someone riding a Venture, or worse yet, hurt the Venture.
  2. Had a 1980 here for repairs for about a month, but never got around to the carbs. It shouldn'r be hard to figure out though. Carb #1 will be the carb to which the throttle cable is attached and carb #2 will be directly linked to it on a separate linkage. carb #3 will be linked to carb # 1 with another link and Carb #4 will most likely be linked to carb # 3. So now you need to have a gauge hooked up to the vaccum ports in the intake manifold below the carbs, and then you need to find the adjusting screw that will adjust the throttle opening on each carb, except the one we designated to be #1. #1 will be adjusted with the throttlew stop screw. By adjusting the screw on #2 you can come up with the same vaccum reading as that of #1. RPM should be steady around 1000. You then adjust #4 (the carb that is linked to #3) to match # 3. You then adjust the # 3 carb to #1, all the while keeping the RPMs as close to 1000 as possible. After each adjustment and before going on to the next carb, you need to crack the throttle a couple of times to make sure all is seating properly. Hope this helps somewhat, it's kind of basic and will require some knowledge of mechanics and carbs, but to know what to look for might be of help. The basic idea is that the butterfly at the bottom of the carb creates a vaccum below it. By closing the butterfly you increase vaccum and by opening it you decrease vaccum, hence when all the vaccum readings are the same the butterflys will be open and closed exactly the same and so you have a balance. Snaupps???? Carl
  3. A scam??? A mechanic for 30 years????? Handles like a 300 lb ride??????? Easy fix?????? Lots of parts available????? do I need to say more?????
  4. First, look at your kill switch, then put up the kick stand, then use some choke. Now it should start.
  5. I'm not looking for a can of worms, but need the opinion of the people that know. I can buy a Garmin Zumo 450, for the same price as a TomTom Rider 2nd edition. I need to know the advantages and shortcomings if anyone has that info. I may go to a Zumo 550, but it seems to me that the TomTom has it all covered. Thanks Carl
  6. Now they don't ship to Canada, anyone else got an idea???? Best price so far though, and if I decide to go that route I'm sure some American buddy will help out. Thanks Carl
  7. Will work just fine, and I'm told it's compatable with the normal stuff, but I would flush all the old stuff out anyways and go total syn.
  8. Just like to know where the best place would be to get a Garmin 450 GPS.
  9. Sorry guys,,,,, it will be called CHILD LABOUR and so will be outlawed in no time.
  10. I'm with you on your thoughts Bill, the little lids cover the law but do little for protection. Carl
  11. We want to know all about just how that happened, because we think that is very important,,,,,,,,,,,,,on second thought I think we all believe you, you are very honest. I would like an explanation as to why Miss NaughT got thanked twice,,, not that she don't deserve it, but it makes it look like Brad now has two women to deal with, and I just don't think that at his age that is all that fair,,,,,,,,,that should be left to someone with more experince. Looking back, I do think that you introduced us, but if you didn't it really don't matter on our part,,,, we had fun putting it all together because, all the heavy stuff was carried by the one who was best able to carry it all, and you did a GRAND job at that. That you were a little 'testy' at times can be understood, seeing as the volunteer group you had to work with was not always focused on the things that were of 'importance', but then what can be expected with a bunch of fun loving riders.
  12. Well I got the first two letters right, not bad for a Sunday morning.
  13. But don't leave it on too long or it might discolor the chrome.

Come on guys, there is a nice part to this group you know, but I'm getting a little tired doing it all by myself, so help out a little will ya??????
  15. Might have been Freebird that you were talking to, and he's a lover of Goop products.
  16. Or peanut butter, or margerine
  17. Wish her an you the best, look after her well, she must be precious.
  18. Darn, they're on to me, now what am I gonna do for a responsible baby sitter that I can blame for all my mistakes.
  19. You will need to take the controller out, take it apart and re-solder all of the cold solder points. There is an article in the tech section on this. Any more problems, post again. Takes about 1-2 hours with a small soldering iron and some non-acid solder.
  20. Did you forget the 'before' pictures??????? Oh well they look real nice now!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. If you have taken training then this info won't surprise you none: As mentioned, stay loose, let the bike have it's way with you and try to 'enjoy' the flopping around it might do. If it decides to go left, ride with it, and then temper it, and then correct it. If an oncoming car is going to give you a hassel, keep going left to get out of the way, going right all of a sudden will only put you down and out. Keep your head up, meaning that you will go where you look, so if that's close to the bike, that's where your distination is, so look up to where you are going, where you want to be, and then ride baby, ride, slow speed of course.
  22. Thanks for the info.
  23. Another perfect answer!!!!!!!!!:happy65:

    Desecant

You'll never know the difference until you have problems keeping air in the Class system. Then, when you take things apart to see what's happened and you notice corrosion all over the place from water getting into places where it shouldn't be, then you'll say AH HA,, now I see. So keep it blue,,, every two years give it a cooking and your Class will perform much better for a lot longer.
  25. Be safe and go with headsets. Your hands have enough to do and will be reluctant to drop the mic if and when needed.
