  1. About time somebody thunk something up over there, here I was beginning to think that nobody out there had any vision or fortitude to get out and plan a something.. Good Going,,,,,Hope it works out.
  2. I would suggest a back rest for a daddie's bike,,,,now if you rode a 1st gen, even though the years may say something different, you would feel young enough not to even have to think of one. But that's only my opinion,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
  3. I just got home from a great meal and a 3 hour ride,,,,,,,didn't think it was this cold yet,,but my brain must be freezing up or else my stomach is causing a short circuit of blood flow,,,maybe I just got a bit of mysteriosos.
  4. It must be in the translation:thumbsup2:
  5. Too many plugs to change,,,wouldn't even think of it,,,and all the noise, would scare the crap out of myself everytime I cranked on the throttle.
  6. Most likely the buttons need to be cleaned, so take out the radio, remove the face so that you can get under the buttons and give them a cleaning. Everyone needs a bath now and then.
  7. When you try to lift the front?????????the compression is defiantly higher on the 1200, makes them cheeks pucker so tight there ain't no squeeze left. Talk about compression,,,,,,,WOW.
  8. Ah come on, was just trying to let you see what the real Onatrio is all about, and give you some practise for the upcoming adVenture. We spent our vaction in that land where we are headed, and if you just happen to miss a turn, you'd better be able to ride'em cowboy.
  9. Don't know if I can do it, but I could try,,,,,,,,,,
  10. It's a well know fact, and for safety's sake, does not need to be proven again, but if you must, you will discover that the older the bird, the faster she flies. Colour does have something to do with it at times, but it's the color of the scoot, not the rider, or the adornment of the rider. Rider mass may also have a slight impact, although skill will play a major role in the ulimate outcome. This has all been discovered by all those who have riden Ventures and other scoots in the past,,much to the dismay of the 'other' riders. There is no doubt in my mind that such a endeavor will once agian be attempted in the future that lies ahead, and that one day, some lucky rider will find him, or herself with a Venture on their tail rather than in their forward sight line,,, but then that will mostly likely be attributed to a low tire, poor grip on the pavement, bad treads or maybe even a low battery.
  11. You will still have to start with #2 being the base carb, seeing as there is no adjustment on # 2 other than the throttle screw,,which will adjust all carbs at once. So it's the same sequence: # 1 to #2 # 3 to #4 # 4 to #2 #1 is left rear #2 is left front #3 is right rear so #4 has to be right front It will also remain very important to make sure that the RPMs reamian very constant from cylinder to cylinder.
  12. Ride it without the Class,,, unless you are over 250lbs shouldn't be a big deal. Do remember that it only works in the ACC postion on the key and it takes time to read and display.
  13. Best off living in Brantford, we had a good breeze, some wet stuff, but not really anything to measure, and the power is still on. Gets cloudy sometimes and then we worry, occasionally the rain starts and the drive-way gets wet and then we head for cover, when it snows,,,,,,can't really say what we do,,,,,,,can't remember.
  14. I believe that all radios\amplifiers have an input for the CB but not the wiring to get there
  15. They're just fed up traveling the normal way on a scoot,,,,they're thinking that flying might be more interesting,,,,,,,'course the flight will be intense and short,,,but then they will have had the experience.
  16. Stay away from them,,gets the bike all dirty. Better yet, stay off the majors in heavy rain. If you back of from one truck, the next one will get ya, you just can't get away from them.
  17. When you get it, be sure to put it in a save place so that you'll know where to find it when you go to install it, 'course then you'll have 2 to install.......
  18. Don't really want to confuse things anymore,,,,,,,,but the 85 is a stand-alone, it's improved over the 83's and 84's and has all that the younger set (86 to 93) has to offer , but is faster, has good color, the wobble, the waddle, and a host more of things that really don't need to stir the pot. YAH,,,,,, 85 is the best of all worlds.
  19. The big reason I bought a Venture, was the seat as oppossed to a GW, and you liked the GW better? I find it always seems to be pushing me forward, and I liked to stay put. So it's Venture for me, but to each his own, and if you like the Venture and the GW seat,,try it,, you might like it and make a better ride for you.
  20. So nobody else wants to make this statement, but almost everyone who has asked your question in the past has been told, so now I give you the previledge to hear the answer,,,,,the real answer. The differences between the 1st and 2nd gens is that the 1st gen was built 1st and the 2nd came after that, the first gens looked like a Venture and the 2nd gens 'looked different somehow'. the first gens are faster, have gauges, are nicer to ride, can be fixed more often ('course the time will come for that for the 2nd gens as well), are harder to find, are less expensive to purchase, give you something to do, even in the 'off' season. I suppose more folks will chime in and give their opinions, but this will do for a starter. Now boys,,,,,keep it civil:happy65:
  21. My first bike was an '84 black Night Hawk,,,,'bout the same bike,,,,,my son none tooo happy when I sold it in favour of the Venture,,,t'was his first you see and I only had it for one year,,,,,but it was easier to lift the front on it than it is on the Venture,,,,,,that thing had guts,,,,,,but BROWN is faster.
  22. NOPE,,,, mind you, that's only a pennies worth so I had to type some more. As far the radio is concerned,,,there are 2 inline fuses that can be accessed behind the left front signal light,,,check for these first to make sure they are good, and connected properly. In my opinion, if the radio is the culprit, trash it,,,,,,Squidley is some-what right, but I get good sound from mine,,,,but the real issue here is that the unit is as old as the scoot,,that makes it about 24 years and electronics are only good for about 20 to 25 years,,, so once they get that old you would be throwing good money after bad. I wouldn't even buy one off of ebay today unless it was out of a '93 guaranteed!
  23. I think Marca's birthday is coming up soon, thanks for the idea(s). PS still haven't been to Brad's but plan on it soon, was going to go today, but Ike had different ideas, so maybe we'll see for next week.
  24. If she idles fine,,,,,,,,don't worry ourself too much. The screws onlt ajust the idle mixture and have nothing to do with the actual running,,,,,,,,but then a nice idle is very important.
  25. It had it's pro's and con's,,,,,I liked it for some reasons, but then for others it may just as well be not there.
