We're headed west in a couple of weeks. After stopping in Sikeston, MO we're headed to Abuquerque. Rather than run the interstate we were thinking of following US 412 across Arkansas and Oklahoma and then drop down to Amarillo on US 60. From there we will take I-40 on into NM. My question is 412 a decent road? Anything to see along the way? Dennis

What if I had not dropped the filter? What if we had not hugged our family one more time before leaving? What if Sleeperhawk had not pulled over for me to take that special picture? What if I had not run back for that one more camera shot? The list can go on and on for yesterday. We had just left Snake River Canyon on Arizona 77 and as we are apporaching a bend, cars coming towards us kept flashing their lights so we thought a bad wreck was ahead. No, instead a boulder the size of a small car was sitting dead center in the road. It, by the grace of God, did not hit any cars or trucks. It had just come out of the mountain because it had been raining and got dislodged! So yes, I believe our friendship guardian bells do work! Then on I-40 east of the Petrified Forest, we finally saw some elk! We have been seeing signs for elk, deer and animals the whole trip! Well, time to get on all this cold weather gear we have been hauling around all week. It is now 36 degrees here in Gallup, New Mexico! Off to Four Corners we go! Ride safe, Bobbie

For those you that will be coming to Memphis, Tn, St. Jude Childrens Hoespital for the St. Jude/Mean Dog Memorial Ride, here is a map and address and contact number for the Flying J. I will be posting the meeting time at a later date, so just keep your eyes posted on this thread and the other 2 concerning this event. It is located right in the middle of where theI-55 & I-40 intersect, it can be accessed from either one, cant be missed. Ok, folks, this is the last post I will be making before departing for Memphis, Tn, at 0400 tomorrow morning, If anyone from the Atlanta area is planning on going and want to meet up with us, we will be at the Mc Donalds at exit 11 of I-20 westbound. We will get there around 4:45- 5:00 am, we will wait till 5:15 before departing for Birmingham, Al. We will meet up at the Flying J truck stop in W. Memphis Ark, just across the river from Memphis on I-40. The truck stop is located between the intersection of 1-55 & I-40. Meeting time there is 12:00 noon. We will depart there at 12:30 pm and ride back across the Mississippi River on I-40 to St. Jude Hospital. Looking forward to seeing all of you there.
