Survey - Airbox holes
Marcarl replied to Gearhead's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Drilled 4 x5\8" holes in the corneres of the lid, so that they're outside the filter. Can't say as that there seems to be any differnce. Course it runs fine without the air box as well, not quite as good but not a noticeable difference. She starts good, runs strong and I get about 280km \ 174 miles to the tank full, 15 liters = 3 1\4 Can gallons = 4 US gallons = 54 MPG in Canada and 43.5 in the warmer southern weather. Average speed is around 90-100 KPH or 55-60 MPH. Doesn't seem to matter much if I go faster, I just get there a little sooner and that's cuts in on riding time. -
Just thought is was more honest this way.

And once again our prayers were answered with the answer we wanted.

I know it's been said but I said it again, everything needs to be clean, clean, clean. Time spent in cleaning and keeping things clean is soon earned back when everything goes together as planned. Also, the iron needs to be fully hot and big enough,, not too big but big enough to put out the heat needed. Not good to try to solder something with an iron that cools to quick and so doesn't have enough 'guts' to finished the job. When talking about irons, tip maintenance is also very important. The tip needs to be in total contact with the job at hand. If the tip is corroded (eaten away) (which happens) then there won't be enough contact for proper, speedy heat transfer and more parts than what is needed will be heated, causing more problems.

Funny that it should snow at this time of year. Has this happened before??????? Should I be concerned??????? Will it go away eventually or is this a permament thing and I should sell the bike????

If you are interested in a little ride there is a place on Hwy 20, just the other side of Bismark that is reasonably priced and does custom work. Wizard765 was pleased with what he got. Maybe check it out.

Apples and Wine Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they sometimes take the apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy. The apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they'reamazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who is brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree. Now Men.... Men are like a fine wine. They begin as grapes, and it's up to women to stomp the living daylights out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.

Now if someone has already passed this thing, it could be difficult to get it passed again, for so it is mostly with things that have been passed. Lewis, I suggest you attempt to get at this thingie very sson for the more often it gets passed the more often it must also be consumed, and as it is, consuming it may be a consderable effort.

Noticed your signature, Ponch & Lilbit. We have a Lilbit in our family. Our youngest, Allison, Elizabeth, when asked her name replied: Allison Lilbit. Being the youngest of 6 she was always the smallest and shortest and still is @ 5'5" as compared to her brothers at 6'4" and 6'2".

Go see a good massage therapist, they should be able to locate the pain area and apply massage to releave an old injury you probably have in that area.

Now root beer will be ok for some, but back in the late 60's we were kind of fed up with root beer so we asked our carhop in Port Colborne for a mix of root beer and orange. When she brought it to us she looked a little disgusted and said it looked more like swamp water than anything she would drink. We did like the mix and still ask for it today, by name, and we get it.

Now you're getting kind of personal, but that's alright, I'm sure Marca won't mind if I tell you about our forays out in the middle of the night when everyone else was asleep, like the night when my loved one could not find sleep so I loaded all into the bug and went for a short and then a longer drive, first in the city and then out into the country to find some lonely desolate roads where relaxation could be found, and when finally it was discovered that the eyes were closed and the breathing regular, I took the short route home only to be told: Daddie, I don't want to go to bed!!!!!!!!

Good to hear that that is that. Now you can get on with some real healing and not be disturbed by the lousy end of things, the money and all the blamie things that go with it. Build some good memories of Tom and let the rest slide by. Thanks for keeping us posted and visit often, I like to hear your 'keyboard words' Carl.
