1. Just installed the Baggershield Santa brought for me. Basic install quick and easy as any wind-shield. The hardware was a bit confusing at first but a few minutes thought and it seemed to come together. I went with the "low profile" hardware for the look alone. I like a low shield so I will not often use the top, only with Lori on back on the highway so I don't mind using the A llen Wrench to switch it around. Now to go for a ride and see how it feels with the extra width. .
2. Sharing my new bling, just put them on. Chuck AKA (Slowrollwv) is making them now next door on the other site. I think he has 5 more sets made. Outstanding work on these carb covers and REALLY HARD to find anymore these days. Comes with all the hardware and sell for $ 85.00 shipped. Here are a couple pics Before and After.
3. I just bought a Vetter sidecar for $700 and was wondering if there was anyone who could help with some technical info on the mounting and or could provide pictures of how their sidecars are mounted:322: The vetter did not come with mounting hardware
4. Hey guys, does anybody know a source besides the dealer for the Phillips head screws on the upper fairing under the false tank cover. I have tried several hardware stores and all they could give me was a hex head and longer. Thanks 84 VR 120k brought back from the dead.
5. A few years ago i bought some hardware that mounts the saddlebag to my 2005 rstd. They had large hand or palm handles so that you didn't need a allen wrench to remove them. They can be removed with just the twist of the hand. Well i've lost two of the four that are needed for each side. Can't remember where i got them. I've searched the internet but had no luck. Can anyone help with a "link" ?

Thunderbolt for PCs?

Hey looks like Apple's fast Thunderbolt port is arriving in the Windows world pretty soon: http://www.electronista.com/articles/11/12/26/thunderbolt.said.ready.to.go.for.april/ Lots of hardware standards like firewire and usb are shared across platforms. This one is fast though, and once the 'winders guys' have it in their machines, we will most likely see lots of new hardware using it.
7. Anyone have set of he mounting instrucitons they could scan and send me?? I know generally how they go, but would like to see the hardware set up. Thank You!! RSTDdog
8. I am fixing up a Cavalcade and the carbs were leaking. I ordered seals for the float bowls but not o-rings for another part. Can I get o-rings from a hardware or auto parts store or do I need to get them from a Suzuki dealer? I am new to carb work.
9. Hello everyone: I have a project I'm working on. I am trying to put an 87 trunk onto my 84. The color matches and I have almost all the 85 hardware to make it work. The only things I need are the two pieces of steel that hold the trunk to the locks on the rack. If anyone has an 85 trunk that is broken or in bad shape and would be willing to part with some of the hardware I'd be extremely happy.
10. Has anyone taken the fairing from a Venture and mounted it on a Tour Deluxe? If so, can one simply take off the stock speedo on the RSTD and mount the Venture fairing without adding any special mountings? If mounting hardware is needed, does it replace the windshield hardware on the Tour Deluxe? I like the Venture look but need to stick with my Tour Deluxe, which already has the Venture trunk and passenger seat. Pics on my homepage. Hoppe wants big bucks for their radio equipped fairing and I really don't need or want the audio . . . and they don't sell a fairing without the radio/CD. Any guidance would be appreciated. If it's workable, I'll be looking for an undamaged upper fairing off of a salvage Venture. Thanks.
11. Took a nice weekend bike trip with the family to Berlin, Ohio. Left Friday morning and made it down there about 4. Hit a few shops and relaxed the rest night. A week prior to our trip we phoned Hummingbird and told him our plans, he said he had nothing planned for that day and would love to meet us. Saturday morning we got up early and did some shoping. At 12 we met up with Dick and Linda, went for lunch and then rode to visit a local hardware store that everyone was telling us we had to see while there. After stoping at the hardware Dick was nice enough to take us on a nice 50 mile ride through the country and show us some beautiful scenery. Had a great time catching up and riding with Dick and Linda, thanks again to u both.
12. I'm trying to install a trunk on my 07 RSTD and was hoping someone had some mounting hardware laying about. If not, any ideas on how I can mount it? I BOUGHT THE TRUNK OF EBAY AND IT'S A UNIVERSAL MOUNT TRUNK. THANKS
13. Taters is having another round of surgery on the wrist she broke 2 months ago...please remember her in your prayers tonight....we're hoping all goes well and this will be the last time she will need to go through this.....She insists that all the hardware installed earlier be removed....no more loose screws for her.....
14. I've been seeing more and more ads and commercials about how important "keeping it local" is. I have no problem with that all. I support my local butcher and fruit/vegetable farmers as much as I can. But then there's just about everything else a guy needs. The local grocery and hardware stores have way over inflated prices, and that's only if you happen to be able to find what you need. One of the lacal hardware stores wanted $4.50/ft. for some chain for my snow-blower. I found it in the next town over at a Mennonite owned hardware store for $1.56/ft. So I end up driving 45 minute to Wally World where it's cheaper. But then they still don't carry a good share of the things I'm looking for. And if you ask they usually say it's seasonal or just plain have no idea what I'm asking for. It's gotten hard to find someone who knows what their talking about behind the counter at some the auto parts stores. Menards and Best Buy seldom ever have anything I need. So I end up doing most of my business online. So I have to wonder if the same people who put on those ads saying to "keep it local", ever talk to the "local" businesses about their extremely high prices. I think that if they were asking fair prices, I would have no problem doing more of my business with them. Is it because I'm getting older? Am I turning into my Dad?!?!
15. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemVersion&item=300373641644&view=all&tid=399301566020 Someone mentioned that a Goldwing driver's backrest fit their first gen so I nabbed this one hoping their right. Everything looks identical to the one I had before. Except for the mounting hardware. But I already have that. I'll let you guys know if it doesn't fit.
16. I've recently modified my 86 VR with a Voiger conversion that I found on e bay. the conversion was previously on a C 5 -Kawasaki voiger 1200. The hardware required for the change over to fit my bike cost aprox. $500 + SH. Up shot is--I have the compleat hardware and inst. book for the (B) frame Voiger to C5 Kawasaki Voiger 1200. Free to good home--U pay postage
17. Well, I got my Timberwolf mudflaps on yesterday, and love how it turned out. You holding up your extra on the back of my RSTD out at Dons MD, really did the trick. Took my time, and used SS hardware. Not sure if I'm gonna put chrome trim pcs on yet---maybe I also added a pair of bullet turn signal lenses. Thanks, Steve
18. I have a trunk from an 83 or 84(I think. It's smaller than my 85 trunk) that I'd like to get rid of. It's got a crack on the right side of the lid, and it has been outside on my picnic table for a while now. Missing the lock, and I don't know what else hardware for mounting it. Free to whoever wants it, just pay shipping. I don't need it, I got it when I was trying to find all the parts for my 85. Let me know!!
19. I went looking for a key blank for my first gen Venture. I had read that the ILCO YH46 X120 was the correct blank but there is a better choice. The keymaster at our local ACE Hardware had the X120 but said the HICO 11010 YH50 was a better match for my OEM key. Of course, it has a flat head, not the Yamaha plastic logo one, but I was looking for one I could stash somewhere on the bike so no problem. ACE UPC # 029069706852. Price = $2.19 plus tax and that includes cutting the blank!
20. I was going to upgrade the front of my 84 Venture Royal with the 86 forks with the bigger brakes but now I have decided against it so I am selling the forks and triple tree with the bearings and anti-dive units with all the hardware for 75$ plus shipping to you let me know if anyone is interested. came home today. First I want to thank everyone who sent their prayers and encouragement my way (need all the help I can get) also to those near and far who came to see me. You don't know how much that boosted my moral. Again thank you from the bottom of my heart. Tomorow I have two Dr. appointements in Regina. One is to remove that hardware that is screwed to my arm, other is an exam of my eye. Going to be a long day. So long for now; Bigbob
22. Don't ask me how this happens LOL, but if you have problems with the Class/CB panel cracking around the hold down screws this may help you. Since all of mine were cracked and broken, I removed all the screws (6) and replaced them with m4-0.7x25 metric screws. I also went to hardware store (home hardware in Canada) and picked up 6 beveled washers in size 00 in the facet section. Simply thread the screw through the washer and then through the panel. It's not as neat as the original recessed screws with caps, but it does hold the panel down and doesn't look all that bad. Hope this helps someone in the same situation. See attached photos.
23. Hello all, Well, my bodywork on my '87 is coming along pretty good, have half the parts painted, but in taking off the left saddle bag, it is pretty bad. If anyone has one they would be willing to part with, could you let me know. I don't need the lid or hardware. Thanks D
